Understanding harmful coping mechanisms| depression, eating disorders, substance abuse
Understanding the harmful coping mechanisms we may have developed over time is important. Often, these mechanisms were put in place during our childhood as a way to survive difficult situations. However, as we grow older, these coping mechanisms can become the cause of our diseases and negative patterns. If you suffer from depression, an eating disorder, alcoholism, or drug addiction, you have a harmful coping mechanism. These mechanisms are only there to suppress the painful emotions and feelings stemming from the limiting belief systems given to us at a young age. The good news is that we can not only shift our coping mechanisms, but we can also release the emotions and beliefs causing them. This is done by accessing the subconscious, where our emotions and beliefs are held. Doing so allows us to break free from old patterns and live healthier, happier life. Remember, healing starts with understanding and awareness.
