Highlights First Images from the James Webb Space Telescope Official NASA Video
NASA revealed the first five full-color images and spectrographic data from the world's most powerful space telescope, the James Webb Space Telescope, a partnership with ESA (European Space Agency), and CSA (Canadian Space Agency). The world got its first look at the full capabilities of the mission at a live event streamed from the agency's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, on July 12, 2022.
The event showcased these targets:
- Carina Nebula: A landscape speckled with glittering stars and cosmic cliffs
- Stephan’s Quintet: An enormous mosaic with a visual grouping of five galaxies
- Southern Ring Nebula: A nebula with rings of gas and dust for thousands of years in all directions
- WASP 96-b: A distinct signature of water in the atmosphere of an exoplanet orbiting a distant Sun-like star
- SMACS 0723: The deepest and sharpest infrared image of the distant universe to date

The World In 2050, The Real Future Of Earth (BBC & Nat Geo Documentaries)
Can you imagine our world in 2050? Can you imagine the earth in 2050? Can you imagine people in 2050? Do you want to know the future of earth? By mid-century there will likely be 9 billion people on the planet, consuming ever more resources and leading ever more technologically complex lives. What will our cities be like? How will we eat in the future of Earth? Will global warming trigger catastrophic changes, or will we be able to engineer our way out of the world climate crisis?
In the future world demographic changes will certainly be dramatic. Rockefeller University mathematical biologist Joel Cohen says it's likely that by 2050 the majority of the people in the world will live in urban areas of the earth, and will have a significantly higher average age than people today.

NASA’s Psyche Mission to a Metal-Rich Asteroid (Teaser Trailer)
There are millions of asteroids in our solar system, so why is NASA going to the asteroid Psyche? Scientists think this particular asteroid, which orbits the Sun between Mars and Jupiter, could be part of the metal-rich interior of a planetesimal, a building block of the rocky planets in our solar system. Visiting Psyche and studying it up close could help us understand how planets like Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars came to be.
Join us on the journey to the first metal-rich asteroid humankind has ever visited. The Psyche mission is set to launch as early as Oct. 12, 2023. Watch live launch commentary at

JWST Just Found a Galaxy That Is So Old and Extreme That It Is Like a Fossil from the Early Universe
In this episode, we will explore one of the most remarkable discoveries made by the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST): a massive and compact quiescent galaxy, which is a type of galaxy that stopped forming stars and is a possible ancestor of giant elliptical galaxies. We will also learn how this galaxy is surrounded by a complete Einstein ring, which is a rare and spectacular phenomenon of gravitational lensing, where the light from a distant galaxy is bent and magnified by the gravity of a closer galaxy. This discovery is not only stunning to look at, but also has profound implications for our understanding of galaxy evolution and cosmology.
