Springwater North Shore Aylmer Trail Loop
Healthy4Life - another day another trail
Enjoy this 2.9-km loop trail near Aylmer, Ontario. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 34 min to complete. This is a popular trail for birding, cross-country skiing, and hiking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
AYLMER LOOKOUT HIKE HIGHLIGHTS
The beautiful aspen forest you first experience on the Minnewanka trail continues here. The views of the dramatic cliffs along Mt. Astley are especially impressive here.
One of the very best Banff National Park hikes, the Aylmer Lookout trail starts at the Aylmer Pass Junction, which is where you turn off the Lake Minnewanka trail on to the start of the Aylmer Lookout trail. The Aylmer Lookout hike enters a beautiful mountain river valley between Mt. Astley and Mt. Aylmer.
The Aylmer Lookout hiking trail is a steady uphill for the first 2.5 km. Thankfully the trail surface is kind to hikers with a moderate amount of roots and rocks.
Off-and-on during this portion of the hike, you’ll hear the raging river down below at the bottom of the valley. Be mindful to stop and look behind you at regular intervals as the views of Lake Minnewanka in from of the majestic Mt. Inglismaldie are breathtaking.

Mooney’s Bay Beach & Park #26 In Ottawa
Mooney’s Bay Park #26 cleaned Beach, located on the east shore of the Rideau River just south of Carleton University, is a popular summer destination for swimmers, rowers, and volleyball players.
In the summer, Mooney’s Bay Beach is one of the City of Ottawa’s four supervised beaches. The city’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department set up a swimming area, which is supervised by trained lifeguards from 12pm-7pm each day, from the third week in June until the third week in August. From mid-May until early September, volleyball nets can be rented per hour or for the day and stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) can be rented by the hour. This can be done from beach and lifeguard staff.
Mooney’s Bay is an artificial bay on the Rideau River. The Bay was created during the construction of the Rideau Canal when a dam was built, creating Hog’s Back Falls, with canal locks for boats to bypass the falls. This created a widened area of the river, suitable for boating.
Mooney’s Bay was named after three generations of Mooneys who held the position of Lockmaster at Narrows Lock covering 87 of the first 112 years of the lock’s history.

The Rideau Canal & #24 Parks Canada Forest Walk In Ottawa
Healthy4Life -Living Out My Childhood Dream
The Rideau Canal is a 202 kilometre long[1] canal that links the #Ottawa River at Ottawa with the Cataraqui River and Lake Ontario at #Kingston, #Ontario, #Canada. Its 46 locks raise boats from the Ottawa River 83 metres upstream along the #Rideau River to the Rideau #Lakes, and from there drop 50 metres downstream along the Cataraqui River to Kingston
fyi
The construction of the canal was supervised by Lieutenant-Colonel John By of the Royal Engineers. Private contractors such as future sugar refining entrepreneur John Redpath, Thomas McKay, Robert Drummond, Thomas Phillips, Andrew White[15] and others were responsible for much of the construction, and the majority of the actual work was done by thousands of Irish, Scottish, and French-Canadian labourers. Colonel John By decided to create a slackwater canal system[16] instead of constructing new channels. This was a better approach as it required fewer workers, was more cost effective, and would have been easier to build.[17]
The lock at Lower Brewers nearing completion in 1831, by Thomas Burrowes
The canal work started in the fall of 1826, and it was completed by the spring of 1832. The first full steamboat transit of the canal was made by Robert Drummond's steamboat, Rideau (aka "Pumper"), leaving Kingston on May 22, 1832, with Colonel By and family on board, and arriving in Bytown on May 29, 1832.
The final cost of the canal's construction was £822,804 when all the costs, including land acquisition, were accounted for (January 1834). Because of the unexpected cost overruns, John By was recalled to London and was retired; he received no accolades or recognition for his tremendous accomplishment

Balanced Rock Sculptures & Exceptional Views of The 613 Capital Core Area & 819 Gatineau Shoreline
Sunday May 26th 2024 - Rocks are space, and space is illusion.
Riverfront park known for its collection of balanced rock sculptures by artist John Felice Ceprano.
Remic Rapids Park is renowned for its balanced rock sculptures and exceptional views of the Capital core area and Gatineau shoreline
Healthy4Life
"This park provides stunning views of the river and is home to countless species of plants and animals. The Capital Pathway passes through the park. Park-goers can also admire views of the Ottawa River and the core areas of Ottawa and Gatineau from a lookout by Tunney’s Pasture. To enhance the park’s beauty, artist John Felice Ceprano has created balanced rock sculptures on the river’s edge since 1986.
The Ottawa River has excellent flows from May to September. Some rapids are better in lower water than high. The rapids are rated as Class III to V, but at any water level, the Ottawa River provides some of the best whitewater rafting in Ontario
During all these years there existed within me a tendency to follow Nature in her walks.

Britannia Park #18 & Beach In Ottawa
Thursday May 23th 2024
Time wasted at the beach is time well spent - Health Over Wealth Lifestyle
Britannia is a group of neighborhoods in Bay Ward in the west end of
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located on the Ottawa River across from Aylmer, Quebec, adjacent to its namesake, Britannia Bay, north of Richmond Road, west of the Kichi Zibi Mikan and east of Boyce Avenue.
My life is a beach
Many of Britannia's old cottages live on as bungalows. Surrounded by water, forest, and hills.
Life's a beach, and I'm just playing in the sand
The Ottawa River Pathway is a very long segment of Capital Pathway along the south bank of almost the entire length Ottawa's portion of the Ottawa River. A bike path extends from Britannia some 12 kilometers to the Parliament buildings downtown. Today, there is probably no neighborhood in Ottawa more mixed than Britannia forming a contrast with many of the homogenized satellite communities that have become Ottawa
