SteinWas is a term applied to a piano that started its life in Steinway & Sons Factory, but has been modified with aftermarket parts. Indeed that is what we use here most of the time.

You might wonder why the instrument was modified so I will explain: After 80 years life, mostly in uncontrolled Florida atmosphere, plus abuses by presumably well-meaning technicians, the instrument was essentially unusable; a wreck due in no small part to a failed pin block. Rebuilding was required. Would not use factory parts because aftermarket parts are superior -- a lot of composite fibre instead of wood. Hand crafting by Bruce of Forte Piano Gallery.
