Pilot Episode Review Series
Episode 14
TheVespor and Ramsis give full review of the Season 1, Episode 2 episode of The Transformers cartoon series from 1984, titled "More Than Meets the Eye Part 2".
Part of our Pilot Review Series here on Vespor's Retro Reviews. This time we are looking at the second of three pilot episodes of the toy series based off of transforming robot toys from Hasbro. The ones that started it all. And three episodes that make up the pilot will be reviewed here so we can give you our full look at the set of episodes that started off the series that lead to a movie and lasted for almost 100 episodes in total throughout its 3/4 Seasons.
The episode continues where we left off previous with the Heroic Autobots surrounded by fire at an oil platform destroyed by Megatron, leader of the Evil Decepticons. The Autobots hae to free themselves and save the humans Spike and Sparkplug who become valuable allies to the team. The adventures take us all over the world ending up in Burma and the Ruby Mines.
The Transformers is an adventure that takes us from the war battered planet of Cybertron where the Heroic Autobots are wanting to escape their homeworld as they have been ravaged by the Evil Decepticons who want to take over all and rule with tyranny.
The Autobots, lead by Optimus Prime, are planning to leave to find energy on other planets and escape the Decepticons, but of course the evil Megatron finds out about the Autobots trying to find more energy and follows them and thus their adventure takes them to the Planet Earth many many many years later. And we have..
The Transformers!
This will be part of our Pilot Episode Review Series. Where we take in depth looks at pilot episodes of famous series from yesteryear and see how series got started. Sometimes pilots are great and memorable, sometimes not so much so. And sometimes shows are very different from how they were shown in the first episode. Should be a lot of fun to look at how things got started with this iconic series.

A solo Let's Play done by the co-star of Vespor's Retro Reviews, Ramsis, (along with the star of our show, The Vespor doing commentary during this playthrough as well) showing gameplay of the Playstation 2 version of "MLB Slugfest 2006" which was made by Midway. This is our Twentieth (and for now) final game in our baseball retrospective.
For our last look back at baseball games we are moving all the way to 2006 for one of the later games in the MLB Slugfest series with the game found on PS2, MLB Slugfest 2006. If you thought you knew baseball, you haven't seen anything yet. Slugfest takes baseball and changes everything. We think this is more than the best way to end our look back at baseball games to show where they went to when all was said and done before heading into the current generation of games.
With wacky commentary, MLB and Players licenses, and create your own player options, this was NBA Jam meets Baseball. As the Slugfest series pretty much was the extreme sports edition by Midway for their baseball games. All the teams were here as were the stadiums and the best part is probably the commentary that is spoofing the game and making jokes more than doing proper commentary.
So many options to tweak, like you can be aggressive and hit the fielder who has the ball. Turbo running and throwing options. You can catch on fire. Do crazy and extreme pitches. Hit the players on purpose. This has so many fun options that this is baseball like you have never seen. We can't wait to show you our last edition of our baseball retrospective and thank all of you for joining us as we looked back at 20 games from the start all the way to 2006.
You know the game, now watch Ramsis have fun explaining it all to you and with theVespor along for the ride, it should be a blast from the past for us to enjoy once more. Here on Vespor's Retro Reviews.

This is our nineteenth game in our baseball retrospective.
Because we can't limit ourselves to just traditional baseball games based on the North American MLB, we have a baseball game focused fully around Mario and friends (and enemies) partaking in a game of baseball! That's right the GameCube game Mario Superstar Baseball is a game like no other but it is a fun one that mixes sports and the Mario universe in one of many games that has sports and Mario themes together.
With full commentary, we show all modes found in this game. There are mini games and a Toy Box as well as a full challenge mode where you build your dream team to try and take on Bowser's over powered team at the end. Of course here we just do some simple single player mode action with Luigi leading the way, but you won't want to miss this latest episode of our Baseball Retrospective as we hit the year 2005 and near the end of our look back at baseball goodness.

This is our seventeenth game in our baseball retrospective.
This time we are looking at a more obscure game, a Sega Saturn game called World Series Baseball II which has a 32 bit look at baseball in their long running series from Sega. Not too many owned this system so the game may be a lost or unknown entity to many, but this series was on other Sega systems at the time so it was definitely out there and revolutionary for it's time.
With full commentary, MLB and Players licenses, this game had it all. You can choose your team, stadium, lineups and stats and have at it. This took baseball to the next level where it showed that the consoles can make an impressive looking baseball game too. Not just for computers anymore.

This is our sixteenth game in our baseball retrospective.
Part of the long running Bases Loaded series of baseball games by Jaleco. This game on the SNES is a little different in that it is based off of a game not intended for the Bases Loaded series but made for Japan and South Korean audiences and then ported to the North American market as a Super Bases Loaded Sequel.
This game is known for its 3D perspective angles and twists that it takes when you hit and field in this game. Also has lots of team creation and customization that lead to popularity of this title. It has it's flaws and downsides but it is still a fun experience when you get into it.
You can do leagues and custom play but there are no MLB teams or stadiums found here. This is all fictional teams and players that you use but each name is changeable for the custom teams. So if you want to play as the Lizards or the Weasels have we got the game for you!
Lets hope this Bases Loaded experience goes a lot better for Ramsis than his last attempt did.

A solo Let's Play done by the co-star of Vespor's Retro Reviews, Ramsis, (along with the star of our show, The Vespor doing commentary during this playthrough as well) showing gameplay of the 16-bit SNES game known as "Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball" created by the owners of the Seattle Mariners, Nintendo. This is our fifteenth game in our baseball retrospective.
This is a classic amongst baseball games. Anyone who is anyone who owned a SNES in the mid 1990s knew of the game Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball. It was the must have and impressive arcade standard baseball game that everyone went to at the time. As everyone knows in 1994 we didn't have any actual baseball to watch due to the strike, at least we had t his game to play to hold us over. And it held us over and then some.
With so many options and features unique to baseball games at the time. Funny animations and easy to play mechanics. It was a game that even non-sports fanatics can enjoy. The game only had the MLB license so there was no actual player names, just teams, stadiums and division and event names found here. But with the editor mode, you could fix that easy enough by adding in all the missing names yourself or create your own names and have fun as you like. Full of league modes, All-Star and home run derby, there was a lot of functionality and replay to be found here.
One of the best but you already know that. This is a definite and must have in any baseball retrospective. Even if you didn't love the game you do have to appreciate where it's place in history and nostalgia falls.
You know the game, now watch Ramsis have fun explaining it all to you and with theVespor along for the ride, it should be a blast from the past for us to enjoy once more. Here on Vespor's Retro Reviews.
With that all out the way let's once again.. PLAY BALL!
Time to take a look back at this classic once more as you can't have a true Baseball Game Retrospective without looking at this one.

Can Vespor Do It!? - Episode 7
Part of a newer segment of our Solo Playthroughs here on "Vespor's Retro Reviews" channel. "Can Vespor Do It!?" where Vespor will have a challenge to meet for some older more less involved game. By the end of the playthrough he will either have successfully beaten the challenge and be given props for doing so or failed horribly and get told so by his co-host Ramsis who will assist during his game plays during these episodes.
For this seventh episode of "Can Vespor Do it?" we have another game show challenge. This time something a little tougher, the NES version of Classic Concentration. The Game based on the Game Show hosted by Alex Trebec that was on NBC in the late 1980s.
In the game you have to match numbers with the prizes under them to reveal a rebus that lies under it that forms a familiar phrase or saying or person or thing. All you have to do is win 2 out of 3 matches to go to the bonus round to try to win the car by also matching cars under numbers as a clock ticks down.
Let's see how our fearless leader, the Vespor does in this game. This may end Can Vespor Do it Challenges all together after this experience. But with Ramsis along to help him, maybe it won't go so bad. Ugh, let's not get out hopes up here.
So enjoy, sit back, relax. It's time for TheVespor to try to not get too frustrated playing Classic Concentration. Good luck.

A solo Let's Play done by the star of Vespor's Retro Reviews, The Vespor himself, (with our co-host Ramsis doing commentary during this playthrough as well) showing gameplay of the 8-bit NES game known as "Legends of the Diamond" by Bandai. The fourteenth game in our baseball retrospective.
Old school meets retro meets the NES as a game theVespor grew up with is played by him in full glory. If you ever wanted to build your dream team of old school baseball all-stars, have we got the game for you. Babe Ruth, Joe D, Bob Gibson and Hank Aaron. They are all here and ready to become part of your old school dream team. You choose your line up of all star players from the past and pitchers too and then go against another team filled with all-star greats from MLB past and there you have it, Legends of the Diamond.
Similar to another game we reviewed, Baseball Stars on the NES. Has the same look and feel of it but it's it's own creation all together done by Bandai.
You know the game, now watch TheVespor have fun explaining it all to you and Ramsis along with him it should go well, here on Vespor's Retro Reviews.

Galaxy Aces take on the Sixty Whiners in Single Game Matchup
Solo Genesis Let's Play
A solo Let's Play done by TheVespor as part of our Super Bowl LVII celebration to the big game in February 2023. Are you ready for some football? Well we hope so as TheVespor got to choose the football game to showcase and get you ready for the big game. And what did he choose?
Mutant League Football of course on the Sega Genesis. Because it's not just football, it's football with mutants, skeletons and aliens battling it out on some distant asteroid in outerspace. How else do you play football? Sounds right to us.
A game exclusive to the Sega Genesis, this is using the Madden 93 engine for all it's worth and adding in mutant monsters and creatures who want to destroy the other team, literally. Let's see how TheVespor does as he is joined by Ramsis doing commentary as they take on the horrible and pathetic Sixty Whiners and show no mercy as they get ready for the big kick off this weekend.
Don't forget to like, comment, subscribe and ring that bell. And to watch our Super Bowl Commercial Back in Time to also prepare you for the big game! showing gameplay in the the Nintendo Entertainment System game.

Episode 13 of our Baseball Game Retrospective Series
Solo Arcade Let's Play
A solo Let's Play done by Ramsis (with main host Vespor doing commentary during this playthrough as well) showing gameplay of the 16-Bit Sega Genesis Sports game known as "Sports Talk Baseball". The thirteenth game in our baseball retrospective.
Revolutionary game for it's time. Had real time commentary and play by play as well as real players to use for each team. Had lots of options a a very real baseball feel to it. Game is a little too fast passed and the game can be overly difficult would be the few downsides here. But as far as wanting a TV type experience for a baseball game you can't go wrong here.
Pitching is easy. Rosters are full and easy to navigate. Each player has it's own pose and style. With stats and read outs to make it more immersive. Full season or all star modes also available to really add long lasting life to this game. Really ahead of it's time and a must play for baseball fans.
The game was a follow up to "Joe Montana II Sports Talk Football" which used a similar engine to do the commentary on a cart such as this. The Sports Talk Franchise wouldn't last very long as later games would make it very easy to do such things as commentary, especially when moved to disc format for games, but for its time in the early 90s, having a play by play game done by an actual announcer was a very cool feature and a big deal.
You know the game, now watch Ramsis have fun explaining it all to you and Vespor here on Vespor's Retro Reviews.
