Why News Channels Still Talk About Weather Despite Smartphone Accessibility
Why does the news talk about weather for 3 minutes when you can get that info from your phone in 3 seconds? And in some cases, they talk about the weather 2 or 3 times in a 30-minute segment. So, why do they still do it? Well, there is a good reason for it. These stations make more money the more viewers they have. And although weather is something that you can easily get from your phone… It’s still something that appeals to everyone. Literally everyone. And it is something that you may check daily as it can change, and in some cases drastically, over the previous day. So, think of “weather” as content that keeps people engaged. It keeps them watching the 30-minute episode as they don’t always know when it will appear. And the longer people stay engaged the more money they make off advertising. It’s the same way that Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and other social networks reward you if your content keeps people on their platform longer. So whenever you are creating content, think about what will keep users engaged. If you have a great hook, you may keep people for a few minutes, but if you have a great hook and engaging content people may consume the whole thing.

The Backlink Dilemma: Decoding Content Length Impact with 10,000 Articles
Will writing longer-form content get you more backlinks? We looked at 10,000 popular articles around the web. We based “popular” off search traffic and social shares. The reason we selected popular articles is because articles that aren’t popular in many cases have little to no backlinks. We found that longer-form articles that are 4,000 plus words don’t generate as many backlinks. And if the content is too short, the same issue. Here are the content lengths that generated the most backlinks. So, what content length should you target? Well, you could use the chart above as a rule of thumb. But what you really should do is make the article long enough or short enough to get your point across. If you covered everything that the reader would want to know, you don’t need to add extra words for no reason.

Smart Moves for 2024: Boosting Success and Growth in Entrepreneurship
I’ve been an entrepreneur for roughly 23 years now. I’ve been through ups and downs, and the one thing that has stayed consistent is I’ve gained the most during terrible economic times. When things are bad, that’s when I double down. Because that's when the competition slows down and pulls back. Which creates an opportunity for you. And when things recover, you typically will start climbing back up faster than the competition. It’s tough, but try to double down in 2024. Whether it is with your marketing, acquiring competitors, or doubling down on geographical expansion. This is your year to expand and flourish!

The Best Social Networks: Why the Popular Ones May Not Be Your Best Bet
The best social network isn't the one you think it is. Most people would say Instagram or TikTok because that’s what everyone is talking about. But here are a few quick stats for you… · Facebook - 3.03 billion users · Whatsapp - 2.7 billion · YouTube - 2.7 billion · Instagram - 2.5 billion · WeChat - 1.67 billion · TikTok - 1.67 billion · Facebook Messenger - 988 million · Snapchat - 988 million · LinkedIn - 950 million · Telegram - 700 million · Pinterest - 450 million · X - 450 million The most popular social networks, tend to be the ones we aren’t talking about much. Just because people aren’t talking about networks like Facebook doesn’t mean they aren’t effective anymore. Just try running ads on any social network, chances are Facebook will produce more volume than any other competitor. So, does that mean you should be spending your time on Facebook? It actually means you should spend your time on many social networks. As of July 2023, according to Demand Sage, the average Internet user uses 6.6 social networks. So, the best approach for you is to use multiple platforms to reach your audience. Plus, if you think about it, most of them accept the same or similar content formats, which means you can repurpose and save time.

The Power of Back-End Marketing Strategies
Don't spend all your money to acquire customers. Spend it to keep it. That's where you make all the money. It's not the front end, it's the back end. Prime example of this is Amazon prime. When they first came out with their offering, it was so cheap. Everyone's like "you're crazy, you're going to lose money." And you know what? They did lose money. But on the front end. On the back end, people keep coming back and buying from Amazon which has caused them to be a trillion plus dollar company. So what you need to think about is marketing costs are continually rising each and every single year. The only way to make your marketing profitable is continually have upsells and downsells and to get people to keep coming back. Just think about McDonald's. When you go to McDonald's, if you have kids, they'll ask you if you want to make that meal a happy meal or supersize it or get more fries or a Coke with that. That's examples of upsells and downsells. And on the flip side, when they provide amazing experience with their jungle gyms outside and their toys, what do kids want to do? They want to keep going back to McDonald's. They make their money on the back end, not the front end. That's how you build a big business.

Top 3 SEO Opportunities in 2024
Top 3 SEO Opportunities in 2024 Most people are focusing on the wrong thing, don’t be one of those people. Focus on these 3 things to really dominate in search this year. Opportunity #1: Don’t let AI write your content. Check out this chart. It shows that most marketers use AI to write their content. And most people prefer AI to fully write their content and have little to no human involvement. When we looked at what content is ranking on Google, human-written content ranked higher 94.12% of the time. To top it off we ran an experiment with the help of 68 other sites to see what percentage of their traffic comes from AI-written content. Their average AI-written article had 52 visitors a month. On the flip side, their average human-written article had 283 visitors a month. Opportunity #2: Focus on SEO outside of English. Look at my traffic breakdown by region. Even though I generate a lot of traffic from the US, the majority comes outside of the US. The way I was able to get a lot of traffic from other regions was through transcribing my content. You can find content in Portuguese, French, German, Spanish, and many other languages on our website. We do this because it is easier to rank in these other countries. It’s less competitive. Sure, their GDP may not be as high, but you can gobble up a bigger chunk of the market share. You can use ChatGPT to translate your content. And then have a human from that country adjust the content to be tailored to the local audience. Opportunity #3: Focus on ultra-long-tail keywords. Check out what percentage of my revenue came from ultra long-tail keywords (7 or more words) in 2023 versus 2022. It used to be 31.21% and now it is 48.95%. These keywords that are 7 or more words only make up 24.26% of my SEO traffic, but it is the largest bucket for driving revenue. These keywords are easier to rank for and you can find thousands of them within your industry if you use the tool Answer the Public. People are starting to search for longer keywords because of AI. Focus on capturing it.

B2B SEO Success in 2024: The Power of Ultra-Longtail Keywords
New Data: Here’s What You Should Change in Your B2B SEO Strategy So, 2023 is done. I thought it would be fun to look at our data to see what kind of keywords brought in the most revenue for our ad agency, NP Digital. Keep in mind we rank in decent positions for keywords like “SEO”, “Online Marketing”, “Digital Marketing”… and the list goes on and on. And no matter what country you work with us in, we don’t really have any services that are lower than 5 figures a year, and it can easily climb into the 7 and sometimes 8 figures per year. So where does most of our revenue come from, at least from an SEO perspective? Well first, let’s look at what keywords drive our organic search traffic. Now, let’s look at the keywords that drive our qualified lead count. 3-to-6-word keywords are generating most of our qualified leads, which makes sense as long-tail keywords drive the majority of a site’s organic traffic. And let’s see what type of keywords are driving most of our revenue. It’s crazy to see how the ultra-longtail, 7 or more words, is what is driving revenue. Now let’s compare this with our 2022 revenue data. In 2022, we had a similar traffic breakdown percentage to 2023. But what we are seeing is a shift in the way people are searching. They are becoming more specific with their search queries before they are looking to convert. The longer-tail keywords are what’s driving more revenue these days and we see this trend with other B2B sites we work on. So, in 2024, focus on long tail keywords that are 7 or more words. It may not drive the traffic you are looking for, but it should drive the revenue you want.

"Battle of the Bots: ChatGPT, Bard, or Grok? Comparing their Roasts! 🤖
Who produces more entertaining content? ChatGPT, Bard or Grok? I asked ChatGPT, Bard, and Grok to roast me based on my blog posts. At first, I asked Bard to be vulgar, but it's not allowed to be. So I removed the "vulgar" part for all platforms. Let's look at what each one produced. ChatGPT: And now Bard: Finally, Grok: ChatGPT produced 88 words, Bard produced 306 words, and Grok produced 249. ChatGPT's version was too short. Bard did a good job overall, but every paragraph wasn't punchy. Grok was shorter, but overall it hit harder. The winner, Grok. It's newer than the other two, but worth using. I still need to test it more thoroughly, but the early signs show it's worth checking out.

Brand Power: Your Ultimate Business Shield
Marketing Trend: Moats will be non-existent, other than brands You’ve probably heard the word “moat” before. If you haven’t, just think about water around a castle. There’s water all around the castle, and a drawbridge is used to get in and out of the castle, protecting them from invaders. With your business, you may have a moat. It could be a feature, cost structure, technological advantage, or even a marketing advantage. Over the years, moats in the online world have slowly disappeared. It’s easy for anyone to copy marketing strategies these days. So what’s separating you from your competition? Something that works right now might not work next year. But do you know what will still be a strong moat in 2024 and even a stronger one in the future? It’s branding. People buy Jordan shoes because they love Michael Jordan. His brand is stronger than ever, even though he hasn’t played in the NBA for over a decade. His shoes are so popular, it’s helped him boost his net worth to over a billion dollars. Just think of it this way, someone can make shoes just as good as Jordan. What you are paying for is the brand, not the shoe quality. What’s interesting is he made more money after retirement than he did as a basketball player. It’s not just Jordan who built a strong brand - so have the Kardashians. Kylie Jenner and her family pocketed around $340 million after taxes from the sale of Kylie Cosmetics. But what really separates her beauty products from others? That’s the power of a brand.

Unlocking ChatGPT Recommendations: Insights for Better Visibility 🚀
How to Rank Your Website on ChatGPT I know ChatGPT doesn’t rank websites like traditional SEO, but it still can recommend companies and products. We asked ChatGPT over 100 questions to figure out what makes them recommend a company or product. We asked questions like… What’s the best laptop for college students? What’s a great credit card when you have a low credit score? What’s the best electric SUV? What headphone brand should I buy for watching movies? I then took the questions and answers and gave them to a statistician and data analyst to see if there were any patterns. They analyzed 82 factors but found 6 of them to have a strong correlation. Here’s what we found matters to ChatGPT: Now I know ChatGPT pulls data from before September 2021. But eventually, their index will be live and closer to real-time like Bard. So, if you focus on the above metrics, you’ll find that in the long run, ChatGPT will recommend you more.

Improving SEO: Uncover Content Differences with Bard
My Favorite AI prompt to help you improve your SEO rankings. First off, this prompt works on Bard, it doesn’t work on ChatGPT. Whenever you are trying to rank on Google you’ll notice that in many cases a website may rank higher than yours even if you believe your content is better. What you need to keep in mind is Google doesn’t actually understand content quality. They fake it. As Google admitted to the DOJ, “We do not understand documents, we fake it.” So I like asking Bard to help determine what I can improve in my content to rank better. First, ask Bard this question: Can you tell me the main differences between the content on this page [insert URL of a competitor page that ranks above you] and this page [insert URL of another competitor page that ranks above you]? This prompt will tell you the differences in the content for those 2 different web pages. Make sure the URLs you select rank for the same keyword on Google. Don’t use those sites' homepage URLs, you have to use the exact URL that is ranking on Google for that particular keyword. Bard will then tell you the difference in the content and give you ideas. Then I want you to use the following prompt on Bard to get even more insights: Can you tell me the main differences between the content on this page [insert URL of a competitor page that ranks above you] and this page [insert URL of another competitor page that ranks above you] ? And then after analyzing both of those pages, can you tell me how to make the content on my page better on my web page? Here is the URL for my web page [insert URL of the page on your site that is targeting the same keyword] This will give you more insights on what you need to change to rank higher. The reason I break it down into 2 prompts versus 1 is because if you just used the 2nd prompt, Bard won’t give you enough feedback on the content quality for the URLs ranking above you on Google.

From $73 to $750 Million: The Colorful Transformation of a 110-Year-Old Company 🌈📈
How a 110-year-old company grew its sales from $73 to $750 million. Have you heard of the company Stanley? It’s an old company that sells tumblers, cups, and bottles. Their target audience… men at job sites who need to stay hydrated. It wasn’t a bad market… it got them to $73 million a year in sales. But in 2019 a popular women’s blog post about Stanley, it went viral… serval times. Instead of ignoring it, they embraced it. They took the same products and released them in pastels and other colorful versions. Through influencer marketing, they were able to get the awareness out about their new colored variations targeting women. It was so successful that they sold out multiple times and even created wait lists. Fast forward to today, they now do $750 million a year in sales. Moral of the story… you may already have the right product or service, you may just be targeting the wrong audience. Don’t wait 110 years to figure that out like Stanley.

Influencer Reality Check: The $323.19 Revelation and the Truth Behind Monetizing Social Media
There is going to be a rude awakening for influencers this year. And one number tells it all. $323.19 So, what is that number? Well, we surveyed 5920 influencers, marketers, and content creators… The average monthly income that they generate from their social media profiles is $323.19. Even with the users that had between 100,000 followers and 999,999 followers, their average income didn’t improve by much. They were generating $1,727.29 a month on average. And it didn’t get much better for the users that had over 1,000,000 followers. Their average income generated was $6,109.83 a month. So why isn’t influencer marketing working… at least for a career? It’s because way too many people create content for the masses. If you aren’t known for something specific, it’s hard to monetize. Focus on building a community around something specific. For example, I’m known for marketing. I monetize my profiles to generate more marketing clients for my ad agency, NP Digital. You don’t see me posting motivational quotes. If you want to be an influencer, don’t go after the masses. Instead, go after a massive TAM. That stands for “Total Addressable Market”. And the next time someone asks you if you want a million followers or a million bucks, you may want to consider the million dollars. Even with a million followers, it would take a bit more than 13 years to make a million dollars. ;)

Standing Out in a Crowded Digital Market: Unconventional Strategies for Success
10 years ago, 31.4% of companies were actively leveraging digital marketing. Fast forward to today, that number has increased to 96.1%. That’s roughly 3x more competitors. So, do you think you can win by just creating some clever marketing campaigns and a cool landing page? You can’t! No matter what you do, your competition is going to eventually copy you. Even if you adjust your product or service or price… it’s just a matter of time before someone copies you. So how do you stand out today? You must do something crazy that no one else dares to copy. For example, we gave away free marketing software that cost us millions of dollars to attract leads. Between all our software, there isn’t a month where we don’t generate at least 160,000 new leads. You can do this in consumer as well. Orabrush was giving away their tongue cleaner for free to generate revenue on the backend by upselling other products. And when Amazon introduced Prime, people thought they were crazy because the deal was too good to be true. It was, they lost money on Prime, but it helped them increase their LTV and they of course won. So what do you dare to do?

Unlocking SEO Success: The Power of Long Tail Keywords
New SEO Data: Here are the keywords that will get you the most traffic and sales. We decided to look at our database of 7.4 billion keywords and match it up to analytical data we have on over 1 million plus websites, to figure out what type of keywords are the best. Because there are head terms that tend to get searched a lot but are competitive to rank for. And then there are long tail terms that are easier to rank for but don’t have the volume. Let’s dive into the data. 1. Keywords that are 10 to 15 words in length tend to get 2.18x more clicks on average than 1 or 2-word search terms. 2. If you remove brand queries, 77.91% of organic conversions come from search terms that are 3 or more words. 3. On average 82.53% of a website's organic traffic comes from search terms that are 3 or more words (if you remove brand keywords). 4. Over the past year, there has been an increase in searches for phrases that are 10 or more words by 47.95%. Our assumption is people are getting used to tools like ChatGPT and are expecting search engines to also provide answers to their questions. 5. Click-through rates on search terms that are 2 or fewer words are down 9.44% when compared to 3 years ago. 6. Your rankings for 1 to 2-word search phrases are 18.26% more likely to shift up or down in the search rankings than long tail keywords. 7. Compared to 3 years ago, there has been a 19.58% shift in the type of results Google ranks for 1 to 2-word search phrases. In other words, 19.58% of the rankings for these short-tail keywords shifted from transactional to informational. 8. Keywords that are 6 plus words long convert on average 48.52% better than keywords that are 3 to 5 words in length. And 219.34% better than keywords that are 1 to 2 words in length. You could make the argument that in an ideal world, you would want to rank for all types of keywords, both short and long tail. But if you had to only pick one, pick long tail keywords. The long tail is what really makes an SEO campaign work.

Competitor Insights: Key to Marketing Success
The marketing question you need to ask yourself when things aren’t working out… What did my competition do? Here’s why you need to ask that question. Just think about it… if someone didn’t buy from you. It means that they bought from your competition. If your search rankings went down… well, your competitor just took your spot. If your social media ads aren’t driving you the sales you once were getting, well your competitor just took those sales from you. Whatever industry you are in, chances are it is saturated. If it isn’t, it will be, it is just a question of when. Someone is doing well in your space. You just have to figure out what they are doing that is working. Reverse engineer it and it may provide you with the answer you are looking for.

Boost Your Views: Simple Strategy for More LinkedIn and Social Media Visibility!
This social media strategy got me 46.7% more LinkedIn views, 31.4% more YouTube views, and 29.5% more Instagram views. So, check this out. If you post on LinkedIn too often or even YouTube, or Facebook, or most social networks, your reach on your posts gets crammed down. But with X, if you post a lot, your old posts don’t get penalized from a reach perspective. So, every day I put out 2 or 3 posts on X. I then take the winners, the ones that get the most views, and then create video content from them. All I am doing is reading the text word for word, and having an editor add some visuals. I then post the videos I created with the exact text I used on X and then post that content on LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. It’s produced good results for LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram. It hasn’t done much for TikTok and Facebook. However, some social networks emphasize other factors in their algorithm more like comments. So, the next step will be to look at what posts on X had the most engagement in the form that the other social networks value the most. For example, if YouTube loves comments (which they do), I would create videos based on my most popular X posts from a comment perspective instead of a view perspective. This simple strategy is how I am growing my social impressions.

A Quick Look at AI vs. Human Impact in Marketing
Everyone is creating AI content, but very few people are reading it. Check out these stats. Out of 1051 marketers that we surveyed, 12.3% are creating content with humans. The rest is either through AI or a combination of AI and humans. That’s a 5.44x difference. There, of course, are many other variables, but we are consistently seeing human-written content outperform AI-written content... at least for now.

Logo Essentials: 4 Variations for Your Marketing Needs
There are 4 variations of your logo that you need for marketing. The first is your main logo. It typically will have the full company name and a sub-mark that symbolizes the company. The 2nd is a variation. Your logo may not always work with all color schemes. For example, you may want to use a different logo for a white background versus a black background. The 3rd is a simplified version. There will be times when you don’t have enough space and you need a logo that fits in condensed areas. And the 4th is a sub-mark. You want something simple that you can drop on social media or anywhere and people will instantly know what you are talking about.

Understanding Marketing: It's Like Directing a Play from Posters to the Final Show
What is Marketing? Making a poster for a grand play and spreading it? That's advertising. Actors performing teasers around town? That's promotion. When a scene accidentally leaks to the public and the news covers it - that's publicity. Convincing the town council that this adds charm to the community event - that's public relations. When the audience fills the theater, enjoys the show, asks questions, buys merchandise, and spends more money - that's sales. And if you planned the whole thing, from poster to final curtain - that's marketing. Did you know? 65% of marketers say generating traffic and leads is their biggest challenge (HubSpot). Only about 22% of businesses are satisfied with their conversion rates (Econsultancy). Digital advertising spending worldwide is projected to exceed $526 billion by 2024 (Statista). Rethink your marketing. It's not just selling a ticket; it's directing the entire play.
