Spain, Ireland and Norway formally recognized a non-existent state of “Palestine” today. They thus indulged in the sort of European virtue-signaling that has brought us such past “triumphs” of diplomacy as the 1928 Kellogg-Briand pact that banned war. Now as then, such delusional preening only emboldens aggressors and makes achieving a real, let alone adurable, peace infinitely less likely. The bad news is that Columbia University and other campuses across America are under siege. Last week, 49 members of the U.S. Senate threw down with President Biden over his administration’s secretive plan to make the man whose malfeasance contributed to the needless deaths of over 1 million Americans during the COVID-19 Pandemic – World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus – the dictator of U.S. public health. Every Republican Senator declared that “the most recently available version of the pandemic response treaty is dead on arrival.” The signatories declared that “Instead of addressing the WHO’s well-documented shortcomings,” that accord would have the effect of “supercharging the WHO” at the expense of, among other things, freedom of speech and property rights.

Senate Republicans Throw Down with Biden to Preserve U.S. Sovereignty The Biden administration is stealthily preparing to surrender our sovereign, constitutional Republic, and the freedoms it guarantees to the World Health Organization’s unaccountable, Marxist Director-General, Tedros Ghebreyesus. What is not generally understood about the planned approval at the end of this month of what amounts to not one but two treaties that would effect such a fundamental and outrageous transformation is that the principal beneficiary of such an arrangement would be the Chinese Communist Party. It is, of course, no secret that the CCP was responsible for promoting Ghebreyesus – an obscure Maoist minister in an Ethiopian regime tied to terrorism – to be the top bureaucrat at the WHO. And his record in that position during the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated indisputably his fealty to Beijing. For example, Dr. Tedros promoted at terrible cost to us and countless others around the world such Chinese Communist priorities as: - Implementing the “China Model” in an unprecedented and disastrous response to the pandemic (including, mask mandates, social distancing, quarantines, lockdowns, and mandatory “vaccinations”) - Costing the needless loss of life of an estimated 1 million Americans (and many more elsewhere) by, among other things, precluding the early use of safe, inexpensive, and widely available therapies (including, falsely representing that their off-label use to treat COVID would be unsafe, directing doctors not to prescribe them, and discouraging pharmacists from filling such prescriptions) - Encouraging, instead, jabs with inadequately tested, and highly experimental “gene therapies,” many of them manufactured in China (subordinating the public’s interests to those of “friends of China” like Big Pharma and Bill Gates. The latter boasts of having achieved a 20x return on his investment in “vaccines”) - Using CCP-proven techniques for suppressing information at odds with WHO guidance (including weaponizing censorship by officials, medical associations and journals, and traditional and social media and penalizing doctors for using their best judgment, resulting in their loss of income and/or jobs, reputational harm and, in some cases, medical certifications) - Employing CCP surveillance tactics and techniques to control populations (including adopting Digital IDs, Big Data aggregation, and enforcement mechanisms – notably, travel restrictions – in the name of monitoring and promoting public health and instituting a proto-Chinese social credit system. Blinken Visit to Beijing May Not Portend More “Engagement,” But Conflagration Here Before Russia’s Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine, he met with Chinese dictator Xi Jinping in Beijing. Before Israel was invaded, Iranian and Palestinian leaders did the same. And after Venezuela’s Nicholas Maduro returned from meeting Xi in China’s capital, he announced that he would invade Guyana – an as-yet unfulfilled threat or, more to the point, an unexecuted order. Could yet another invasion loom after Secretary of State Tony Blinken’s visit today with Xi in Beijing? In point of fact, the Chinese Communist Party has already illegally inserted into this country multiple divisions-worth of unaccompanied, fighting-age men, apparently personnel of the People’s Liberation Army. What We Have Learned from the Disaster in Baltimore, and Should Have Already A foreign-owned and -operated ship just destroyed an important bridge in Baltimore, with devastating impact on its port and people – and still-cascading disruptions in the U.S. transportation, commercial, and trade sectors. While the official inquiry into what happened has just gotten underway, the huge container vessel known as the Dali clearly had myriad electrical and other physical problems and a checkered record of unsafe operations. Other troubling facts have already come to light: The Dali left port despite having had “serious power outages” while docked in Baltimore. Indications that Trouble for the CCP at Home Will Mean More Trouble for Us The evidence continues to mount that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is in real difficulty financially, economically, demographically and politically. The Senate Needs a New Minority Leader for the Next Eight Months Senator Mitch McConnell announced this week that he will not run again for the post of his chamber’s Minority Leader after the November election. But, for a number of reasons directly relevant to the concerns of the Committee on the Present Danger: China, he needs to resign that position now, not cling to it for the next eight, critical months. For one thing, Senator McConnell and his wife, former Labor and Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, have made large personal fortunes in the family shipping business with Communist China. Such ties deserve serious examination, especially in light of the recent demise of Secretary Chao’s sister, Angela Chao, who also had extensive ties to the CCP, in a pond on the McConnells’ ranch in Texas under circumstances now deemed to warrant a criminal investigation. Given the Senator’s longtime involvement with the Chinese Communist Party and his very strained relationship with former President Donald Trump, he would be in a position to undermine the re-election bid of a man the CCP helped remove from office with its COVID-19 biological weapons attack – and definitely does not want to return to the White House. Mr. McConnell may also reprise over the next eight months his practice of exploiting control over campaign resources to subvert Republican candidates for the many Democrat-held and open Senate seats this fall who would not be aligned with him. That may redound especially to the detriment of GOP critics of the PRC. Then, there is the prospect that Senator McConnell will continue to perform as the Democrats’ controlled-opposition – going along with agendas that benefit the Chinese Communist Party, including border insecurity, reckless deficit spending, “global governance,” and climate change that most GOP voters categorically reject. The Chinese Communist Party has taken what may be its first steps toward imminent military action against Taiwan.
