What Happened to Bruce Campbell?
Ask Bruce Campbell, and he’ll tell you he’s “sick of over-trained heroes. I'm really bored with that. Guys that are just ripped to shreds and, you know, full of skills. That's boring to me. Give me the mechanic that picks up a weapon, you know? Now I'm interested. That's my hero. That could be me.”
Ash Williams of the Evil Dead franchise IS that hero. Part of the lasting appeal of the best character Bruce Campbell has ever played is that the audience can see themselves in him, like if they were pressed into fighting an army of Deadites, they could take up the mantle, the chainsaw, the boomstick, and mow down wave after wave of the undead masses. In this video, we take a look at Campbell's long career, from his debut in The Evil Dead through his brushes with fame in the nineties, through his awesome return as a character actor on Burn Notice and his return in Ash vs The Evil Dead!

What Happened to WES STUDI?
Actor Wes Studi heard that director Michael Mann was putting together a little bank robbery picture called Heat. According to Wes Studi himself, he proactively called Michael Mann's office to land the role of Detective Sammy Casals. His passion for the character and project led to his Last of the Mohicans director casting him again in another great role that allowed him to show off some range. This allowed Wes Studi to go beyond the “leather and feathers of period dramas” even though he excels in those too. He stole the show in Best Picture Dances with Wolves and his character didn’t even have a real name, the credits call him “Toughest Pawnee”. And he is probably the only actor who can get away with asking Daniel Day-Lewis to sign his autograph... with his left foot. He has worked alongside some of the most talented artists in the biz and made sure to thank them when he technically became the first Native American to win an Oscar. Upon accepting his unholy golden idol, he received a standing ovation from his peers and colleagues, who finally recognized this man’s work. Iconic Native American actor Wes Studi, perfected his craft by embracing his personal and ancestral history. Using his like experiences, he is able to help audiences feel like they are fighting along side a true warrior. He had already led what most would refer to as a full life before he entered acting, so he rightfully has always seen himself as more than an actor. So gather around and pass over that peace pipe as we try to find out how this dude became such a cinematic badass and discover What Happened to Wes Studi.

What Exactly Is WOKE CINEMA?! (And Why People Hate It)
In this new on-going series, we will examine the current political climate surrounding all things “woke” when it comes to the cinematic arts. Are Hollywood studios pushing an agenda? Is this creating a division amongst us peasants? Is it even possible to critique or watch a film without politics coming into play anymore?
Our hot shot team of dedicated researchers may have found out that things might not be so black and white… Pun intended? Who knows anymore?! It is an exciting and scary time to be making and watching movies but that type of chaotic environment allows this medium to experiment and grow. Controversy can always inspire conversation and that’s what we are hoping to do with this new show.
I believe it was the Disney+ flick Peter & Wendy that responded with a “So!?” when asked why The Lost Boys were not exactly Boys. And I believe it was South Park’s Cartman who, while poking fun at Kathleen Kennedy said, “Put a chick in it and make her lame and gay.” Sooooo…. What did she mean by “So?” and what did Cartman mean by “Put a chick in it and make her lame and gay.’? I don’t exactly understand all of that but do I understand LAME. Trust me, I identify as lame.
Like it or not, in the minds of many, the definition of “woke” has changed to mean “lame”. It used to be cool. “Stay woke” was seen as a battle cry to fight injustice and bring equality to the people. But the phrase got overused to the point of parody and social justice morphed into a business and even almost a religion. Wokeness began with the best of intentions but evolved/mutated/transitioned into something well…lame. The definition of the word lame is “uninspiring and dull”. That is what many of these new films and characters have been feeling like… uninspiring and dull. Unfortunately, many of these new dull sources of art and entertainment fall under the category of “Woke”. This unfortunately creates a connection in our collective minds that “woke” content equals “lame” content. This word “lame” also means “unable to walk without difficulty” which is what’s happening to Disney and other studios, who seem to be doubling down on the pandering of “wokeness” in their content, rather than quality entertainment.
Context is key when a film is labeled “woke” and it depends on who is doing the labeling and if the movie is good or not. “Lame Wokeness" is very forgivable when the film offers other “cool” cinematic aspects. You got Good Woke, Bad Woke and Ugly Woke and somehow the Good Woke is overshadowed by the abundance of Bad Ugly Woke… which is lame…. and confusing… but that’s why we are trying our best to tackle these issues. Cinema is still a relatively new tool for artistic expression and we are still making mistakes when it comes to how to tell the best story in the most effective way possible. This new call to arms for our content to be more woke or less woke is the next frontier to explore and who knows what we will find in this new wild wild west of wokeness.
At first, “Woke Cinema” was all about telling new stories from new points of view from people who may not have had their stories told in the past due to actual hate and discrimination and racism or sexism or any-ism you wanna ism. But maybe those good intentions went too far, lost focus and began to feel forced, done out of fear and almost hateful themselves; creating enemies out of lifelong allies and supporters. Was it intentional or an accident? Not even the most perfect of teenage rocket scientist Mary Sue Jedi can answer that.

BASEketball - Overachieving at Underachieving!
There’s a forgotten chapter in the saga of Matt Stone and Trey Parker. In between South Park’s early success and their big-screen hit, South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut, which gave them legit critical respectability, the pair starred in a movie for Airplane- The Naked Gun director David Zucker - BASEketball. It remains the only project the two have ever acted in that they didn’t write, direct or produce themselves, and it was a major box office flop that’s become unfairly obscure over the years. But, if you grew up in the late nineties and liked South Park, chances are you saw it when it hit video - and probably more than once.

Judgment Night: The Ultimate 90s Action Thriller
It’s a story we’ve all heard before. A group of friends stray off the beaten path and end up having to fight for their lives. This has served as the set-up for many classic horror films and thrillers. Back in the early ‘90s, director Stephen Hopkins used it as the set-up for an action movie that has an awesome cast. Emilio Estevez, Cuba Gooding Jr., Jeremy Piven, and Stephen Dorff play the friends fighting to survive. Denis Leary is the leader of the criminal gang out for their blood. Unfortunately, not a lot of people went to see the movie when it was released… but they did make the soundtrack a hit. The movie is called Judgment Night, and it’s time for it to be Revisited.

What Happened to CHANNING TATUM?
From "Magic Mike" to "This Is The End" to a cancelled Gambit film set in the X-men universe, Channing Tatum is far and away one of the more interesting cases of career trajectory. An actor that began his career as a hunky boyfriend-type but soon would sink his teeth into more comedic territory that would pay dividends in Seth Rogen led film "This Is The End" and his run starring alongside Jonah Hill in 21 Jump Street 1&2. With a promising talent for being charming, funny, and easy on the eyes- Channing was a shoe-in for the role of Gambit in a super-powered heist film meant to be produced by 20th Century Fox. Not to mention the iconic leaked emails from the Sony hack some years ago which showed Tatum's interest in a Ghostbusters reboot. In any situation, this guys has won the hearts of many and has proven to have much more left in the tank.

Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes REVIEW!
It was never going to be easy following up the pretty damn good Apes trilogy 20th Century Fox put out a little while back. Many forget that director Matt Reeves, who was elevated to the A-list thanks to his work on those films, actually only directed the second and third films of the trilogy, with Rupert Wyatt directing the first film, which wasn’t quite the epic the other two were. In fact, I’d even go so far as to say it was a kind of shaky start to what ended up being an amazing trilogy, so as such, I went into Wes Ball’s Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes willing to cut the former Maze Runner director a lot of slack. Happily, Ball ended up making a good Planet of the Apes movie; even if it's not quite the masterpiece, some of those breathless early reactions teased.

Johnny Dangerously: The Best Michael Keaton Movie You Never Saw!
Welcome to a rare comedy focused episode of The Best Movie You Never Saw, about a movie I loved as a kid that doesn’t super hold up forty years later, but is still kinda fun - Johnny Dangerously. A gangster comedy in the vein of Airplane, Johnny Dangerously is probably a movie a lot of younger viewers wouldn’t really get because it satirizes James Cagney gangster movies from the 30s and 40s, but if you like older movies and its star, Michael Keaton, this one is a treat.

What Happened to JEFFREY JONES?
Lydia Deetz, her stepmother Delia and her daughter Astrid stand over a casket, the burial services in progress. We can barely make out who the funeral is for but there he is on the headstone: Charles Deetz. While Charles was once part of the BEETLEJUICE sequel when the ghost with the most was to “go Hawaiian”, he was written entirely out of BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE...for reasons that will soon be obvious. Despite the original’s and sequel’s dalliances with the afterlife, Jeffrey Jones will not be in BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE – or pretty much any other legitimate movie – following his disgraceful tumble from his small but reliable spotlight. Perfectly fitting into prestigious period pieces and goofball funny flicks. Jones is a Golden Globe nominee with consistent work – a mix of villain, comedic and at times patriarchal roles, Jeffrey Jones went from FERRIS BUELLER baddie to WHO’S YOUR CADDY?

What Happened To Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny?!
The year was 1973, George Lucas had just finished writing the screenplay for what would be his hit coming of age story American Graffiti. A poster on a wall caught his eye, an image of a man leaping between a horse and truck made him lose focus and day dream of the old serialized films he enjoyed as a child. Films such as Buck Rogers, Zorro’s Fighting Legion and Spy Smasher flashed through his brain as he had the instant idea of bringing that type of B-level hero to the big screen. He would take this idea and flesh out a story of a college professor who moonlit as an archeologist adventurer. Little did he know that simple idea would yield one of the greatest and most enduring franchises in movie history as his character Indiana Jones has gone on to appear in five feature films over the course of 42 years that have grossed nearly $2 billion at the worldwide box office. For many, anytime the character graces the screen is cause for celebration but it would seem that the years have not been kind to the fedora wearing hero as his last adventure was met with a giant shoulder shrug by audiences. With his final adventure in our rear views, its time we take a look at just WTF Happened to Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny.

Predator - Arnold At His BEST?
Just take a sneaky peak back on the movies we’ve covered so far on our ARNIE REVISITED series, and the Austrian Oak had already covered several genres in his rise from bodybuilder to Hollywood icon. Raw Deal and Commando were straight up action movies, while his work as Conan was an epic mix of action and fantasy. You can even argue that The Terminator is a classic 80s slasher flick, and not simply the revolutionary sci-fi masterpiece it’s generally regarded as. However, he hadn’t managed to blend both horror and science fiction in any of his previous movies, in the way he did with the film we’re focusing on in today’s episode - Predator. It was such a huge success for both star and franchise that it not only helped to further cement Arnie as a Hollywood icon, but also created a franchise packed with sequels, a prequel, crossovers, video games, graphic novels, and so much more. Sure, some of the content in the Predator franchise may be somewhat hit and miss, but there’s no denying the iconic nature of the first movie, with its memorable one-liners, gory deaths and awesome jungle based action.
As we found out in our last episode, the 'Austrian Oak’s' last movie before taking on deadly camouflaged aliens, 1986’s Raw Deal, was a decent action flick, but not necessarily an iconic entry in his back catalogue. So, the actor was more than likely on the lookout for a script that could elevate his career and also expand upon the genres in which he had already found great success. Was Predator the movie to achieve all of this? We all know it was, of course, but just how exactly did the sci-fi epic come to be such an iconic movie of the 80s? Well, it’s time to work on those biceps, and embrace your inner goddamn sexual Tyrannosaurus, as we find out here, on ARNIE REVISITED.

What Happened to ROB REINER?
Once a meathead, always a meathead? Well, if you ask Fox News, Rob Reiner is more of a meathead than ever, spewing out his political diatribes and pushing an ultra-liberal agenda devouring anything and everything that is not left of center. And if you ask baby boomers, Reiner will always be Meathead with a capital M, his beloved character from ALL IN THE FAMILY. And if you ask a film connoisseur, they will say that Rob Reiner is a filmmaker who gave us some of the best flicks ever….until he didn’t. But, really, Rob Reiner – now nearly 60 years in the business – is an extension of both of these. Yes, he spends more time on REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER than he does working on genre-defining scripts but he has solidified his career enough with classics like THIS IS SPINAL TAP, STAND BY ME, WHEN HARRY MET SALLY, THE PRINCESS BRIDE, and MISERY that it almost doesn’t matter how much money-losing crap he puts out now…and there is a lot of it…and NORTH isn’t even the worst of it! So how did this man go from making a few great movies to defining and elevating our pop culture on so many different levels to suddenly pumping out nothing but heartless, soulless political garbage and rom-coms that are neither romantic nor comedic? So did this jack of all genres become a master of none? So let’s find out: WTF Happened to…ROB REINER?

Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead: A 90s Cult Classic?
It was a movie with a questionable title. A lot of critics were rough on it. Gene Siskel even called it one of the worst movies of the year. It came and went in theatres with few movie-goers paying any attention. But in the years since its release, it has become a beloved cult classic. With a legion of fans that love quoting its memorable lines. Some of its youngest viewers were drawn in by what they saw as a wish fulfillment concept: What would you do if the babysitter croaked on the first day of your mom’s vacation... so you had the house to yourself for two months straight? We get to see what the Crandall kids would do in the 1991 comedy Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead – and it’s time for this one to be Revisited.

What Happened to The Fall Guy (1981-86)?
The summer is starting off with a bang next week with the release of The Fall Guy, a big-budget action flick starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. However, some folks may not realize that it's actually a remake of a classic TV show from the eighties starring Lee Majors as stuntman/bounty hunter Colt Seavers. Seavers was a stunt-man by day, who supplemented his income tracking down bad guys, and the show was almost as big of a hit as Majors' previous hit, The Six Million Dollar Man. In this episode, we dig into how The Fall Guy came to be, how gorgeous co-star Heather Thomas became one of the biggest pin-ups of the decade, and how the new movie pays tribute to the show's lasting legacy.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare Movie Review
Guy Ritchie has had quite an interesting career over the last decade, but he's really settled into this period/action niche. And I'm all for it. If there's one thing I'll never tire of, it's Nazis being killed in brutal ways. They're the most one-dimensionally evil bad guy possible. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare gives us that in spades, with what feels like hundreds of them getting gunned down before our very eyes. It's absolutely glorious.

Back to the Future: Still The Greatest Time Travel Story of All Time
The year was 1985 when Super Mario Bros. took the Nintendo Entertainment System by storm; Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes debuted in newspapers, and two unlikely friends named Marty McFly and Emmett Lathrop Brown piloted cinema's most iconic time machine to a year when Panama hats and kitten heels were all the rage, 1955.
Fiercely protected at a level akin to Ghostbusters and Star Wars by millennials worldwide, Robert Zemeckis's Back to the Future sits enthroned at Nostalgia Mountain's top. The original film has spawned two sequels, a cartoon series, video game adaptations, a Broadway musical, and more. But how does it hold up by today's standards?

Civil War Movie Review: One of the Scariest War Films Ever Made?
A24 is the only movie studio I know of that’s picked up a cult following of its own. Their brand has become one of the most trusted among discerning film fans, delivering a slew of interesting, provocative movies that fit all genres. In some ways, they are a throwback to an older kind of filmmaking in that they’ve never focused on chasing franchises and have always been filmmaker-focused. They’ve always taken risks, and it’s paid off more than it hasn’t. However, their latest film, Civil War, is arguably their riskiest movie, sporting their biggest budget (north of $50 million) and subject matter that could be seen as a bit of a political powder keg.

What Happened to Road House?
There are a lot cult classics from the 1980s, but ROAD HOUSE stands somewhere near the top. Sure, many of its fans wouldn't label it as such, since they lovingly, legitimately and unironically adore it. But there’s no use in arguing it belongs in one camp over another or that it is unapologetically everything it sets out to be. But it – and its cult following – couldn’t have happened without a few broken ribs, a don’t-take-no producer and some late-night phone calls to a star’s spouse. Yes, it involves Bill Murray…
So, pour some suds and rip some throats because we’re gonna find out: WTF Happened to Road House, and no, not the Jake Gyllenhaal remake, but the original, Patrick Swayze, Sam Elliott and Kelly Lynch starring classic! Pain don't hurt.

What Happened to Monty Python and the Holy Grail?
After fifty years, MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL is still rightfully hailed by many as one of the all-time greatest comedies, and for a seemingly countless number of reasons: King Arthur’s “horse,” the corpse collector, the Black Knight, the outlandish animations, the rude French knights, an enchanter named Tim, the Knights who say “Ni” , a killer rabbit, the Holy Hand Grenade, and so and so on. But while the end result is historically hilarious, the filmmaking process itself was often pure misery for most involved. Get ready to storm the castle and find out What happened to this movie!

What Happened to Nobody?
Let’s be real. If you had to name the most badass action movie of the past few years, what’s the first flick that comes to mind? Yeah, John Wick might be all the rage for teenagers, Liam Neeson continues to do his geriatric Charlie Bronson, and you can never discount Jason Statham and his brand of brutal butt-kicking. But come on, as far as violently visceral and scintillatingly satisfying underdog tales loaded with realistic fisticuffs and gore-sodden gunfights - nobody does it better than Nobody! Indeed, the 2021 cinematic blitzkrieg starring Bob Odenkirk as an unassuming everyman by day and certified ass-kicker by night hit all the right notes to deliver a vicious and delicious revenge dish for the ages.
With that being said, did you know that a Nobody sequel is currently back in the works? Did you know there were discussions about making a Nobody and John Wick crossover movie? Hell, were you even aware that the movie's entire plot was inspired by a real-life home invasion experienced by Odenkirk? Well, we’re about to dig up all the buried bodies and hidden skeletons in Nobody’s past and give y’all a heaping dose of What Happened to this Movie. Sound good?

Raw Deal: Does Schwarzenegger's Most Obscure 80s Movie Need More Love?
Arnold Schwarzenegger made a whole slew of classic 80s action movies. Still, one remains totally obscure despite being released smack dab in the middle of his amazing The Terminator to Predator run for movies from 1984-87. That film in 1986’s Raw Deal. A formulaic 80s action movie, it’s the most modestly mounted Schwarzenegger action epic of the era, with Arnie coerced into starring to complete a long-standing contract with producer Dino De Laurentiis following Conan The Barbarian. It was a big box office flop but became a popular VHS rental. In this video, we dig into this obscure entry into Arnie's filmography and determine whether it deserves a little more love.
