What Is Metabolism
We often get questions here at Syntrax Nutrition about health, wellness and the role of nutrition when it comes to your body. One of the questions we get is, “What is Metabolism?”
Metabolism is an essential life-sustaining chemical process your body uses to break down foods and liquids into energy and to build or repair your body. According to Healthline.com, having a higher metabolism can help you lose weight and keep it off, while also giving you more energy.
Your metabolism can be broken down into two processes, Catabolism and Anabolism. Catabolism refers to how your body breaks down food. Anabolism refers to the rebuilding process which relates to how nutrients are applied to your body and muscles.
Protein can speed up your metabolism, which can help you burn more calories. Protein can also help you eat less because it can contribute to a feeling of fullness.
Here at Syntrax we understand each person has different metabolic needs, so we developed different lines of proteins to fit those needs.

What is Lactose
A point of concern for many of our customers here at Syntrax Nutrition relates to lactose. One of the questions we get is, “What is Lactose?”
Lactose is a natural sugar commonly found in dairy products such as cow’s milk, yogurt, cheese and ice cream. Lactose aids in the development of microorganisms that live in the digestive tract of babies, and it also helps babies absorb calcium better.
For the body to digest lactose, it uses a natural enzyme called lactase that breaks down into two sugars: glucose and glycose. If your body doesn’t make enough lactase, you may not be able to break down or absorb lactose properly, which can lead to symptoms of lactose intolerance. Lactose intolerance symptoms can cause: gas, diarrhea, bloating, and stomach pain.
Something you might not know is that most lactose-intolerant people can eat or drink small amounts of dairy products with no side effects. For example, some can consume the amount of milk in coffee, but not the amount you would eat with a bowl of cereal.
Here at Syntrax, we understand there are many who are lactose intolerant so we created a lactose-free protein line called Nectar that contains no fat, no carbs and no lactose. This is a perfect protein solution for those who need to limit their lactose intake.

What are Essential Amino Acids?
We often get questions here at Syntrax Nutrition about essential amino acids and why they are
important as it relates to post-workout snacks and meals. One question people ask is, “What are essential amino acids?”
Amino acids are often referred to as the building blocks for proteins. These organic compounds
are composed of mainly nitrogen, carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, which play critical roles in
your body. Essential amino acids are the ones that can’t be made by your body and must be obtained through your diet.
According to Healthline.com, diet-based amino acids increase muscle growth, decrease post workout soreness, reduce exercise fatigue and prevent muscle deterioration. Here’s how they work. When you consume protein, it’s broken down into amino acids, which are then used to help your body build muscle and regulate your immune function.
People also want to know how many amino acids are essential. The answer is that 9 out of the 20 different amino acids are essential.
One of the things you might not have thought of is that one of the best ways to get amino acids into your body is by consuming high quality protein superfoods and supplements. Here at
Syntrax, we understand how important amino acids are for your diet. That’s one of the
reasons we created the Matrix Amino BCAA blend and the Amino-Tor BCAA plus glutamine

Here at Syntrax Nutrition we often get questions about BCAAs, otherwise known as, branched-chain amino acids. The most popular question is, “what are BCAAs?”

Here at Syntrax, we understand how important BCAAs are for your diet. That’s one of the reasons we created the Matrix Amino BCAA blend and the Amino-Tor BCAA plus glutamine blend. These products are packed with branched-chain, essential and non-essential amino acids.

Protein Examples: Whey Protein Concentrate vs. Whey Protein Isolate
one of the questions we get here at http://www.syntrax.com from people curious about protein synthesis, protein function and different protein examples has to do with the different types of protein. People are often asking us about the difference between whey protein concentrate and whey protein isolate.
Simply put, whey protein is a high quality functional protein found in the liquid portion of milk and it gets separated during the production of cheese. It contains a wide range of essential amino acids which are absorbed quickly by the body. And, because of such fast absorption by the body, whey protein is a very popular post workout nutritional choice for many health conscious people.
The big difference between whey protein isolate and whey protein concentrate is that whey protein isolate goes through additional filtering processes to reduce additional fat, cholesterol and carbohydrates. However, because of the additional filtering processes, whey protein isolate is typically a little more expensive.
If you or anyone you know is struggling to get an adequate amount of high quality protein to meet either your muscle building, strength maintenance or weight loss goals from the foods you eat every day, we invite you to explore the types of protein powders and flavors available at http://www.syntrax.com

Post Workout Meal Ideas: What Glutamine Does and Why it Matters to Your Body.
One of the questions we get here at http://www.syntrax.com from people curious about the best post workout meal, post workout snack or other post workout meal ideas is “What is glutamine and why is it important?”
According to WebMD, the answer to the question about what glutamine does is pretty straight forward. Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in our bodies and it works to support many healthy functions, including making proteins for muscle tissue and fueling the cells that protect our intestines which helps our bodies absorb the nutrients we need. Glutamine also helps detoxify the liver of foreign substances.
Your body makes glutamine but if it is stressed by vigorous exercise, injury or illness, additional supplementation may be helpful.
For fitness enthusiasts wondering how to make a strength potion from all the options and ingredients that are out there, studies show that when supplementing with glutamine, athletes can reduce both muscle soreness and strength loss.
So regardless of whether you’re looking for a post workout meal for weight gain or a post workout snack for weight loss, including glutamine supplementation might be a good idea.
One thing many people don’t think about is the fact that glutamine is the main fuel source for your body’s lymphocytes, white blood cells, that fight infection and disease as well.
We feel so strongly about the power of glutamine that we’ve created an ultra-pure glutamine powder called SuperGlu, that can easily be mixed with other beverages, a fruit juice flavored drink mix called Amino-Tor which also contains branched chain amino acids and many other protein supplements and weigh gainers which contain this powerful ingredient too.
When you are looking for glutamine and check the labels on some of our most popular protein powders such as Matrix, Trophix, Nectar, Micellar Creme or Goliath you’ll be sure to find many high quality ingredients, including glutamine listed.
For more information about our products containing glutamine, be sure to visit us at http://www.syntrax.com
