20231006-Signs and Portents, Buls$#1t Fatigue Edition
Yesterday I saw a video clip of some Global News twat interviewing some dumbass with an MD. He purported to be shocked, SHOCKED that people aren't getting their 43rd COVID booster, and put it off to "vaccine fatigue."
I put it, and some other things off to "bullshit fatigue."
There are signs out there that even the Canadian sheeple are getting fed up with the bullshit, and we're not alone. There's change brewing.

20230929-And Another Liberal Falls on His Sword to Protect Blackface Hitler
I genuinely don't understand the Liberal compulsion to protect the Trudeaus at any and all costs.
First, some party hack blows up his reputation to whitewash Paints His Face's invocation of martial law over his pants pissing fear of a couple truckers honking their horns at him
Then David Johnston trainwrecks his personal and professional reputations to shield le Dauphin from China getting him re re elected.
Now the speaker for the house resigns to protect Blackface Hitler from the consequences of celebrating a Nazi in the house of commons.
I don't get it.
But they do it.

20231005 What's Your Mission? How Do You Choose It?
In this third video on missions in general, and your mission in particular, I dive into the question of what your mission is, and how, if it doesn't choose you, you must choose it.

20231004 What's Your Mission? Well, What IS a Mission?
In this second video about defining and choosing your mission in life, I dive a little deeper into first principles. Like, before you can choose what YOUR mission is, you need first to know WHAT a mission is.

20231003 I'm On A Mission To Hold Back the Depression
Back in June, as the school year was drawing to a close and summer vacations were approaching, I got to thinking deeply about purpose, and meaning. I got to thinking about having a mission.
This is the first of three videos on the topic of defining, and choosing something more for your life, a mission.

20230929-Someone Shut Out the Lights, Western Civilization is Done
Last week I was looking at my middle boy's math homework. I was, to say the least, not impressed.
We're no longer a civilization in decline.
We're done. Someone shut out the lights before the power goes out on its own.

20230929-Someone Shut Out the Lights, Western Civilization is Done
At the end of my last video I said Canada is going down, and going down hard.
Let's follow that up with some observations on the dismal state of education in this, the final stages of the decline and fall of Western Civilization.

20230928-Ol Paints His Face is Nothing if Not Predictable.mp4
Gotta hand it to the trust fund tyrant, he's nothing if not predictable.
Months ago I predicted that, with Blackface Hitler's cratering popularity, the Liberals were going to go dirty. They were going to accuse the conservatives of wanting to restrict abortion, cut health care, and bring in American attack politics.
Well, ol' Blackface answered a question about the rising cost of living by accusing the conservatives of...wanting to restrict abortion and put assault rifles on the streets.
Dammit, I forgot about the guns...

20230927-Canadian Politics, The More Things Change, Part 2
More thoughts on the Liberal party's failure to define PeeWee Poilievre as dark, and scary, and all the other lies Liberals normally tell about conservatives.
Thing is, Lilley and Kinsella had it wrong. The Liberals didn't forget to try to define PeeWee, they tried to define him the wrong way. They went with competence, i.e., that Poilievre's non-existent resume couldn't stack up to Blackface Hitler's non-existent resume.
Since that didn't work, it's back to the old standbys of getting down into the muck and slinging.

20230926-Canadian Politics, The More Things Change
As we were turning the corner out of summer, I returned to making videos. This one was in reaction to Brian Lilley and Warren Kinsella pretending to be puzzled about the Liberals' return to attack politics as their popularity cratered.
They pretended to be surprised that the Liberals made a key mistake in not defining PeeWee of the Conservative party as dark and scary. That they were going to bring in American style attack politics, and the theocracy and blah, blah, blah.
I started watching Canadian politics 45 years ago, and these are the exact same, worn out lies that Liberals always tell about Conservatives. And former Liberal back room boy Kinsella's only complaint is that they didn't do it soon enough.

20230926 How You Describe Yourself, or, The Power and Magic of Self Talk
In one sentence, describe yourself. Say, "I am..."
The words you use to finish that sentence are powerful. They define you, they even create you. Choose them carefully.

20230925 In Praise of Small Victories in Pursuit of Big Changes
Much of what we hear in life is about the big. I prefer to think in terms of the small.
Small victories, small disciplines, small habits, just showing up daily and doing something, anything, to move incrementally toward the desired result.

20230915-We Hate You, Justin, We Really, REALLY Hate You
Lately we've been seeing the Liberals cratering in the polls, to levels of unpopularity not seen since the last time a Trudeau was PM.
Here's a video from the way back machine.
Back in July I was contemplating PM Paints His Face's personal (un)popularity, and a survey which placed the Trust Fund Hitler as the most hated prime minister in (recent) Canadian history.
Let's unpack that...

20230921 Depression, Anxiety, Stress? Remember, These too Shall Pass
I'm a future oriented man, I see something coming and behave as if it is already here. For instance, I enjoy the anticipation of a vacation more than the actual vacation.
In late August I was looking past Labour Day to the boys' returns to school, and beginning to react emotionally as if they already had.
Having got myself caught in this situation, I used the experiences of a lifetime of borrowing tomorrow's troubles into today, I reminded myself of that Persian adage, "This too shall pass."
I knew I'd be distressed with the return to school, but I also know that those feelings will pass. So I focused on the present, and the good things happening, to try not to borrow future problems.

20230918 This Year I Was Ready for My September Battle With Depression
September is when the boys go back to school, and I reflect upon the summer's successes and failures. Then I usually fall into a depressive spiral.
Having the foreknowledge of what was inevitably to come, I spent the year, starting in January, preparing a defense against depression.
Last year I ended up in one of the deepest spirals of my life. This year, not so much.

20230915 For the Future Oriented, Remember This too Shall Pass
I had a bad patch late in August, when my depression came slouching out of it's cave to remind me of its existence. This time because I was borrowing future troubles into the present.
I was feeling the absence from my boys' returns to school, even though we still (at the time) had two weeks of summer vacation left.
Age brings perspective, and I got to thinking about the Persian adage, "This too shall pass." I've been down this road before, and experience provided an important lesson.

20230720 Small Disciplines - Another Tool for Raising Children
I began developing my ideas on small disciplines as a way to develop habits for me.
Habits for success, yes, but more for living with my depression and ADHD.
This summer I've implemented a programme of small disciplines to help my boys learn habits for success that will more than help them with school, it will set them up for success in life.

20230720 What the Titans of Direct Response Advertising Teach About Raising Kids
I think it was Gary Halbert who first talked about neurological imprinting, copying out great sales letters from the era prior to internet marketing, as a method of learning to be a better copywriter.
I may be wrong. I learned the concept from Ben Settle, and I forget whom he attributed it to.
Whoever came up with it notwithstanding, the idea is powerful. I used something like it to get through university and this summer I'm using it as a central part of raising three functional adults to release into the wild.

20230718 Small Disciplines Leading to Habits Work to Keep Me on the Path
One day last week I woke up dead tired, and forgot to grab the papers I use to write my daily letter of affirmation. I decided to put writing the letter off until later and began building justifications for why this was the correct decision.
Then self discipline kicked in, overcoming the rationalizations, I went back upstairs, got my papers and got on with my daily routine.
The small disciplines leading to habits are working to keep me on the path to success.

20230713 Got Problems? Please Tell Someone

Fortunately, I have a new weapon in my arsenal against my depression...my wife. Since I told her about my mental health struggles, I can now talk to her when I'm having trouble.
Which I did.
And it helped. A lot.

20230712-Does a Shooting War With Russia Sound Good to You?
So the headlines tell us the super genius neocon dipshits in Washington are rushing to get Ukraine into NATO.
Are those dumb shits aware that, first, Ukraine is in a shooting war with Russia?
Second, a shooting war with a NATO ally triggers an article five, all in war?
Third, Russia is, at minimum, a nuclear armed near peer?
Fourth, Russia still has ammunition and a short supply line while the US is, according to President Senile Kiddy Toucher, shot dry. And the Germans have 2 days of ammo?
Do we really want to expand that shit show to include our young men, when we should be trying to spare the poor buggers already in it?
Are you scared yet?

20230711 Give Yourself Permission to Say NO
Peer pressure is a real thing, and we find ourselves doing things that maybe we shouldn't oughta do.
Maybe our buddies are going out for drinks, and we go along, but we're tight that month and when we put it on credit it rolls over at high interest. We should have said, "No," but didn't.
I'm in daddy fun summer, and the temptation to just give in and frolic with them, at the expense of my routines and habits, will be strong.
I have to say no.
I have to give myself permission to say, "No," and I have to apply the small discipline to say, "No."
Give yourself permission to say, "NO."
