The Constitution and the Republic

Do we need a Constitution? Do we need a Bill of Rights? Do we need a 1st and 2nd Amendment? If so, why?

Thomas Jefferson, as lauded as he is, might still be the most underrated Founding Father. Thomas Jefferson was, arguably, the founding light of our Republic.

Thomas Jefferson, in the Declaration of Independence, envisioned a group of Free and Independent States, each with the power to conduct its own business. What happened?

Does the mandate to the federal governement to remain hands-off with regard to natural rights, extend to the States, as well? Or does the doctrine of States' Rights allow for the individual states to regulate the expression of natural rights?

One look at where America is today is enough to convince one that the concerns of the antifederalists over replacing the Articles of Confederation with the Constitution were well-founded.

An Assault Weapons Ban, the abrogation of natural rights, the 2nd Amendment... what do they all mean? Do Natural Rights mean anything, or has America abandoned any such idea?

Is the Constitution enough? Or de we need a Convention of States to fix it?
