18-Year-Old Girl Blames God for her DUI Arrest | Blue Patrol *Police Bodycam*
Around 12:26 AM on December 15, 2022, Officer Nicholas Windsor with the Delray Beach Police Department observed 2018 Volkswagen Passat traveling on the northbound entrance ramp of I-95 at the interchange of W Atlantic Avenue. He observed the vehicle change lanes across 2 lanes without using a turn signal, leaving very little space between the Volkswagen and the other vehicles. As a result of this violation, Officer Windsor initiated a traffic stop and the vehicle pulled over the east shoulder of the roadway. He made contact with the driver, who was later identified as 18-year-old Averie.
Upon making contact with Averie, Officer Windsor detected the odor of alcohol and noticed that Averie’s eyes were red and glassy. She initially denied consuming any alcohol in the hours prior, but she had trouble providing the officer with all of her documents. Based on his suspicion of impairment, Officer Windsor asked Averie to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises. Officer Windsor started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test, followed the by the Walk and Turn test, One Leg Stand test, Modified Romberg Balance Test, and the recitation of the alphabet.
Based on Averie’s traffic infraction, the odor of alcohol, her eventual admission to consuming alcohol, and her inability to satisfactorily perform the field sobriety exercises, Officer Windsor placed Averie under the arrest for driving under the influence. After she was placed under arrest, she was first transported to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office DUI testing facility. At the facility, she agreed to submit breath samples. Averie ultimately submitted 3 breath samples, which revealed a BAC level of 0.124%, 0.152%, and 0.150%. All 3 samples were well above the legal limit of 0.02% for drivers under 21 years of age.
After submitting breath samples, Averie was charged with driving under the influence (316.193(14)), reckless driving (316.192(12A)), and turning without/improper signal (316.155(1)). Court records indicate that on April 3, 2023, the charge of driving under the influence was nolle prossed and the charge of turning without/improper signal was dismissed. However, Averie did plead guilty to reckless driving and she was assessed a total of $708.50 in fines between April 3, 2023 and July 27, 2023.

Woman Arrested for DUI in a School Playground | Blue Patrol *Police Bodycam*
Around 2:21 AM on January 29, 2023, Officer Edward Jennings with the Middletown Township Police Department observed a 2020 Honda Civic swerving and traveling at a high rate of speed in the vicinity of Route 36 and Thompson Avenue. As the vehicle approached Main Street, the driver made a right turn at the traffic light without signaling. He continued following the vehicle on Main Street, and the driver eventually stopped in the parking lot of the Port Monmouth Elementary School. Officer Jennings proceeded to activate his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, who was identified as 28-year-old Mikala Minix.
He asked Mikala for her license, registration, and insurance, but she seemed confused. He also detected the odor of alcohol as he was speaking with her. Around this time, Officer Kenneth Ross arrived on scene to conduct field sobriety testing. Upon further questioning, Mikala admitted to having been with friends earlier that night after leaving work at Char Steakhouse in Red Bank. She also told Officer Ross that she had consumed alcohol before operating her vehicle.
Based on their suspicion of impairment, Officer Jennings asked Mikala to exit the vehicle and asked her to perform field sobriety exercises. Officer Ross had Mikala walk over to a level surface and started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. During the HGN test, Officer Ross observed a lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, and the onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn test, Mikala failed to walk heel-to-toe and walked more than the 9 steps she was instructed to take. The third exercise was the One Leg Stand test, and Mikala was unable raise her foot in the proper fashion while displaying a lack of balance.
Based on her erratic driving patterns, the odor of alcohol on her person, and her inability to adequately complete the field sobriety exercises, Officer Jennings placed Mikala under arrest for driving under the influence. Her vehicle was searched and impounded for a mandatory 12-hour hold under John’s Law. Officer Jennings subsequently transported Mikala to Middletown Township Police Headquarters for initial processing.
At police HQ, Mikala was read her Miranda rights and refused to answer questions. She continued to be uncooperative and continued to argue with the officers. Patrolman Ross conducted a 20-minute observation and read her the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators, but Mikala ultimately refused to submit breath samples for testing. She was issued the following summonses: Operating under the influence, refusal to submit to chemical test, reckless driving, careless driving, traffic on marked lanes, and failure to give proper signal.

Cop’s Daughter Gets Arrested for DUI | Blue Patrol *Police Bodycam*
On August 27, 2021 at approximately 2:37 AM, Deputy Cory Alcantar of the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office observed a 2013 Honda Accord make an improper turn in the vicinity of Monroe Street and Stadium Way. He proceeded to initiate a traffic stop and the vehicle pulled into the parking lot of the Willow Place Apartments. The driver was identified as 19-year-old Ashley Hollinger.
Ashley was only able to provide Deputy Alcantar with her registration, but she was not in possession of her license or proof of insurance. She also informed the Deputy that her father was a police officer with the Port of Seattle Police Department. Deputy Alcantar noticed that Ashley’s eyes were bloodshot and watery, and he detected the odor of alcohol coming from her breath. He proceeded to ask Ashley how much she had been drinking, and she admitted to consuming 3 White Claws in the hours prior. Based on the indicators of impairment, Deputy Alcantar told Ashley that she would be afforded an opportunity to perform voluntary field sobriety exercises.
The first exercise involved the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN), where Deputy Alcantar observed the lack of smooth pursuit in both eyes. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test, and Ashley did not walk heel-to-toe in a straight line as instructed. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand test. During the One Leg Stand test, Ashley did not raise her foot in the proper fashion and did not in the manner that she was instructed to do so.
Following the field sobriety exercises, Ashley was asked to voluntarily take a PBT test, and the results indicated a BAC of 0.051%. Based on her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises and the results of her PBT test (for motorists under 21), Deputy Alcantar placed Ashley under arrest for driving under the influence. Ashley was subsequently transported to the Pullman Police Department nearby to be processed. Her passenger was transported along with Ashley and she was permitted to wait in the lobby.
After Deputy Alcantar read her the Constitutional rights, Ashley waived them and agreed to answer questions. During the interview process, Ashley admitted to driving the vehicle under the influence. Deputy Alcantar read the Implied Consent Warnings to Ashley, and after she completed the observation period, she agreed to take a breathalyzer test. Her Alcotest results indicated a BAC of 0.039%, which was nearly double the legal limit of 0.02% for motorists under the age of 21.
After the breathalyzer test, Ashley was released pending her first court appearance in the Whitman County District Court, and her and her roommate were given a courtesy transport back to their residence. She was cited under RCW 46.61.503 for Driving under the Influence (DUI) under the age of 21.
On October 28, 2021, Ashley pleaded guilty to an amended charge under 64.44.270(2) – Minor In Possession/Exhibiting Effects of Liquor. She was sentenced to 3 hours of community service and ordered to pay a fine of $500, a $300 probation fee, and a $43 Criminal Conviction Fee.

Wrong-Way Girl Driver Arrested for DUI | Blue Patrol - Police Bodycam
Around 1:36 AM on December 3, 2022, Officers Cynthia Rivera and Andrias Bonilla of the Hoboken Police Department were on patrol and they observed a 2020 Honda Civic driving south on River Street from Newark Street. The vehicle was going in the wrong direction on a one-way street. The vehicle turned onto Hudson Street westbound, against the one-way eastbound traffic. Officer Bonilla activated the emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, 22-year-old Nicole Giraldo, seemed unaware why she was being stopped when the officer questioned her. She initially told Officer Bonilla that she was headed home, then told him that she was headed to Birch to retriever her driver’s license, and finally she told him that she had picked up her friends at Fat Taco.
Officer Bonilla noticed that Nicole’s speech was slurred and her eyes were watery and bloodshot, but she denied consuming any alcohol. He informed Officer Rivera that she was probably impaired, and Officer Anthony Rutkowski responded to the scene to administer field sobriety exercises. Officer Rivera instructed Nicole to exit the vehicle, and Officer Rutkowski proceeded with the field sobriety exercises.
The first exercise involved the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. During the HGN test, Officer Rutkowski noticed a lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, and the onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees in both eyes. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test, and Nicole displayed a lack of balance. When she began the exercise, she walked 11 non heel-to-toe steps forward and 10 non heel-to-toe steps backward, and she did not count out loud as instructed. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand test, and Nicole did not raise her foot in the proper fashion while swaying her arms for balance.
Based on her erratic driving patterns, inconsistent statements, and her inability to adequately complete the field sobriety exercises, Officer Rivera placed Nicole under arrest for driving under the influence. Officers Rutkowski and Rivera escorted her to the patrol car, while Officer Bonilla remained at the scene and told the other passengers in her vehicle to call an Uber because Nicole had been arrested.
Nicole was transported by Officers Rutkowski and Rivera to Hoboken Police Headquarters. Once at police HQ, she was searched by Officer Rivera again and handcuffed to the bench. Officer Rutkowski read Nicole the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators, and she agreed to provide breath samples. Since the Alcotest machine in Hoboken was not functional, they had to transport her to the nearby Weehawken Police Department to administer the breathalyzer test.
Once she was at the Weehawken Police Department, Nicole agreed to answer question during the 20-minute observation period. She admitted to drinking margaritas at Fat Taco earlier that evening. After the 20-minute observation period, Nicole submitted breath samples, and the results indicated a BAC of 0.18%, which is more than double the legal limit of 0.08%. After Nicole was processed, she was released to a sober individual after he signed the Potential Liability Warning form on her behalf. Officer Rivera issued Nicole the following summonses: Operating under the influence, reckless driving, and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.
Court records indicate that on March 29, 2023, Nicole was found guilty of operating under the influence and fined a total of $690. Her license was revoked for 12 months and she had to complete 12 hours at an intoxicated driver resource center. The other 2 citations were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

He proceeded to follow the vehicle, and he noticed the vehicle was swerving and following another vehicle too closely. He proceeded to activate his emergency lights and initiate a traffic stop in the vicinity of Orchard Street and SR 36. As he approached the vehicle, he made contact with the driver, 20-year-old Karina Armando, along with her 24-year-old passenger Olivia Morrow.
Karina told Patrolman Alvator that she was coming from Donovan’s Reef, a popular beachfront bar in nearby Sea Bright, and she admitted to having consumed alcohol in the hours prior. Around this time, Patrolwoman Nicole Curley arrived on scene to assist with the traffic stop. Since Karina license indicated she was under the age of 20, Patrolman Alvator asked her to exit the vehicle so he could perform field sobriety exercises.
As they began the field sobriety exercises, Olivia repeatedly interjected and refused to follow Patrolwoman Curley’s instructions. She told Olivia that if she continued to act belligerent and uncooperative, she may be arrested for obstruction of justice as well. Her boyfriend arrived at the scene and she was eventually permitted to leave with him for safety reasons.
The first field sobriety exercise was the One Leg Stand test, and Karina failed to maintain her balance or raise her foot in the proper fashion. The second field sobriety exercise was the Walk and Turn test. During this exercise, Karina failed to walk heel-to-toe while not walking in a straight line as she was instructed to do so. The third exercise was the Alphabet test, and she recited the alphabet in a slurred manner. The final exercise was the Finger Dexterity test, and Karina only counted sporadically during this test.
Based on her erratic driving patterns, her incoherent statements, and her inability to adequately complete the field sobriety exercises, Patrolman Alvator placed Karina under arrest for driving under the influence. Karina was initially transported by Patrolman Alvator to the Atlantic Highlands Police Department because they were unable to administer the breathalyzer test at their own station. Patrolman Alvator read Karina the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators, and she initially refused to provide samples while subsequently providing an ambiguous response. However, she did invoke her Miranda rights and refused to answer questions related to her arrest.
Patrolman Cunha and Sergeant Elmer at the Atlantic Highlands Police Department logged her refusal to submit breath samples, and Patrolman Alvator escorted her back to his police car. Karina was transported back to the Highlands Police Department for further processing. After Karina was processed, she was released Olivia Morrow’s boyfriend after he signed the Potential Liability Warning form on Karina’s behalf. Patrolman Alvator issued Karina the following summonses: Operating under the influence, refusal to submit to chemical test, reckless driving, traffic on marked lanes, and following too closely.

18 Year-Old Woman Arrested DUI Even After Performing Flawless Field Sobriety Tests
On August 19, 2023, Whitman County Sheriff Deputy Petersen was assisting the Pullman Police Department with a traffic stop when he noticed a vehicle traveling with no headlights on. He left the Pullman PD traffic stop and attempted to catch up to the other vehicle. He initiated a traffic stop, where the 18 year-old driver claimed she did not have her driver's license. Deputy Petersen alleges that he smelled alcohol in the vehicle, so he asked the driver to step out and perform standardized field sobriety tests. She seemed to perform them quite well (comment down below what you think). When she was asked to submit to a voluntarily preliminary breath test (PBT), she refused. Deputy Petersen claimed that based on his training and experience, he felt the driver was operating the vehicle under the influence and she was arrested. She was transported to the Pullman Police Department, where the results of her evidentiary breath test was 0.023% BAC, just over the legal limit for someone under 21 years of age. She was eventually issued a traffic summons and was released to a sober adult. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On April 1, 2023 (April Fools’ Day) at approximately 1:22 AM, Deputy Randy Miller of the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office noticed a 2007 Corolla almost strike the curb when turning North from Whitman Street onto Grand Avenue in Pullman, Washington. As Deputy Miller followed the diver, he noticed that she was going in the wrong direction for a period of time. He proceeded to initiate a traffic stop. The driver, 19-year-old Cyanna Blair-Lawrence, seemed incoherent when she was asked if she knew why she was being stopped. Cyanna told Deputy Miller that her and her friend were coming from Timber, a popular bar in the area, but denied consuming any alcohol earlier that evening.
Based on her erratic driving patterns and her admission to having been at a popular local bar, Deputy Miller afforded her an opportunity to perform voluntary field sobriety tests. Deputy Heidi Lambley arrived shortly afterwards to assist with the traffic stop. Deputy Miller observed Cyanna’s eyes to be bloodshot and watery, while her speech was slurred. The first test involved the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN), where the Deputy observed the lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, and the onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees. During the Walk and Turn test, Cyanna was unable to walk a straight line and she almost fell over on her first attempt at turning. Waitress Arrested for DUI on Thanksgiving Day | Blue Patrol Bodycam
Shortly after midnight on Thursday, November 25, 2021 (Thanksgiving Day), Princeton Police Officer Lipschutz observed a 2003 Toyota that failed to stop at a stop sign when driving southbound on Chambers Street. As he followed the vehicle, he noticed that the driver seemed to be operating her vehicle erratically. He was eventually able to stop the vehicle on Alexander Street. The driver, later identified as 22-year-old Natalie Bogach, was asked if she knew why she was being stopped. She responded that she was probably being stopped because she kicked the curb.
When the Officer asked Bogach where she was coming from, she told him that she spent some time with her friends at the Alchemist & Barrister bar in Princeton after she finished her shift as a waitress at Mediterra restaurant, and that she had consumed Prosecco and Tequila. The Officer also observed that her speech was slurred, while her eyes were watery and bloodshot.
After Officers Schubert and Micelli arrived to assist, Bogach was afforded an opportunity to complete standardized field sobriety tests (SFSTs). Officer Schubert administered the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test, and Officer Lipschutz noticed that Bogach seemed unable to maintain her balance during that test. After the HGN test, Officer Lipschutz explained the instructions for the Walk and Turn test. Bogach was unable to maintain her balance and responded by asking how she could be expected to perform the test at that particular moment if she could not even do these exercises while sober. When the Officer asked for more clarification, Bogach seemed to contradict herself and claimed that she was sober enough to drive home. The final test involved the One Leg Stand test, and Bogach was unable to perform that successfully.
After failing to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises, Bogach was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. Officer Sweetman patted her down to check for weapons and contraband before she was placed in the police car to be transported to Princeton Police HQ. In compliance with John’s Law, the vehicle was towed. After she was transported to Police HQ, Bogach agreed to take a breathalyzer test after the standard 20-minute observation period. The test results indicated a BAC of 0.22%, nearly triple the legal limit.
After her picture was taken and the paperwork was completed, Bogach was released to someone she knew after he signed the Potential Liability Warning form on her behalf. She was issued the following citations along with a court date: Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Failure to Stop and Yield.

Around 9:21 PM on March 13, 2023, Deputies from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene of a crash involving property damage at the intersection of Hypoluxo Road and Rivermill Boulevard in Lake Worth, Florida. Her vehicle had swerved to the left, struck the curb, and stopped in the bushes. The driver was later identified as 19-year-old Samantha Maria Jones.
After Deputies arrived, they had her examined by first responders to ensure she did not need to go to the hospital. She initially denied being under the influence, but subsequently admitted to having consumed alcohol about 4 hours earlier. Since Samantha seemed to display signs of intoxication, Deputies afforded her an opportunity to perform voluntary field sobriety exercises after she was cleared by the first responders.
The field sobriety exercises included the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test, Walk and Turn test, One Leg Stand test, Finger to Nose test, and the recitation of the alphabet. When performing the HGN test, Deputies observed a lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, and the onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees in both eyes. During the Walk and Turn test, Samantha was unable to walk in a straight line.
For the One Leg Stand test, Samantha put her foot down before she was told to do so and continued to use her arms for balance. Samantha also failed to accurately perform the Finger to Nose test, though she did complete the recitation of the alphabet without issue. Based on her eventual admission to consuming alcohol, her lack of balance and fine motor coordination, and the Deputies’ suspicion of intoxication, Samantha was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. Upon searching her car, Deputies found a bottle of Crown Royal Apple next to the keys.
Samantha was placed in handcuffs and transported to the jail, where she agreed to take a breathalyzer test. Her Intoxilyzer results indicated a BAC of 0.153% and 0.146%, which were both nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08%. After the breathalyzer test, Samantha agreed to waive her Miranda rights and answered most of the Deputy’s questions regarding the incident. She was subsequently processed and released with a court date after the mandatory 8-hour holding period.

Girl Caught Driving Without Pants during DUI Arrest | Blue Patrol Bodycam
During the early morning hours of December 24, 2022 (Christmas Eve), Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Deputies spotted a vehicle driving erratically on Caroline Street in Milton, Florida. Deputies eventually activated their lights, and the vehicle came to a stop in front of Zaxby’s restaurant. The driver, later identified as 24-year-old Alexis Porter, was asked if she had been drinking. She initially responded that she had not been drinking a lot, and that she was coming from her friend’s house.
Porter seemed incoherent and did not seem to know where she was. When Porter was asked for her insurance, she showed the Deputy her registration instead. She also had slurred speech and she displayed watery eyes and a lack of coordination. After she was asked to exit the vehicle, the Deputy asked Porter if she had any pants on.
Porter was asked to perform standardized field sobriety exercises, including the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, Walk and Turn test, and One Leg Stand test. She was unable to perform any of the tests in a satisfactory manner. Based on her appearance and inability to perform the field sobriety tests, Porter was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.
After she was placed in the police car and Deputies began to search her vehicle, she managed to slip through the handcuffs. She continued to act belligerent towards the Deputies when they attempted to contact someone who could retrieve the vehicle, and they ultimately decided to tow the vehicle instead. After her belongings were retrieved, the Deputy took Porter to the Santa Rosa County Jail for further processing.

Woman Arrested for DUI after Dropping off a Child at School | Blue Patrol Bodycam
On the morning of November 18, 2022, Indian River County Deputies were called to Sebastian River High School with a report of an apparently intoxicated female who was observed dropping off a child on school property. Corporal Macias initially arrived, and he was told by a school official that there was a woman behind the wheel of a motor vehicle. The woman, later identified as 37-year-old Tonya Mitchell, was asked to open her windows. When she opened the window, Corporal Macias could detect the odor of alcohol from her vehicle. When Corporal Macias asked Mitchell if she had been drinking earlier, she admitted that she was drinking earlier the previous night. She also told the officer that she had entered school property to drop off her niece at school.
Corporal Macias administered the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test, and she showed a lack of smooth pursuit in both eyes and had distinct and sustained nystagmus in both the left and right eyes at maximum deviation. He also observed an onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees. He then asked for a Deputy to respond to take over the investigation. Deputy Rispoli responded, and proceeded to administer additional field sobriety tests on Mitchell.
When Deputy Rispoli responded, she observed that Mitchell was unsteady on her feet, and her eyes were watery and glassed over. Mitchell initially agreed to perform additional field sobriety tests. She was swaying back and forth as Deputy Rispoli began to explain the process of the Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. She was ultimately unable to complete the Walk and Turn or One Leg Stand tests.
Upon failing the field sobriety tests, Mitchell was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. Deputy Rispoli subsequently asked Mitchell how much she had been drinking during the evening and early morning hours. She admitted to having approximately 8 fl oz. of wine followed by 3 to 4 12 oz. bottles of beer at Earl’s biker bar.
Mitchell was transported to the IRC Jail, and given the opportunity to take a breathalyzer test. The test results were 0.248, which is approximately three times the legal limit. A report was made to DCF via their abuse reporting system since Mitchell was endangering a minor passenger by driving while intoxicated.

Two Beers, Three Beers, a few Beers - Woman Unsure During DUI Arrest | Blue Patrol Bodycam
Around 3:16 AM on May 23, 2021, Patrolman Travis Dilts and Patrolman Rueger were dispatched to the scene of an accident at Monroe Avenue and North 19th Street in Kenilworth, New Jersey. Upon arrival, Patrolman Dilts saw that the front passenger side of the gray Volkswagen had sustained damages, and the tire had come off the rim. There was also heavy damage to the front bumper. Once Patrolman Rueger arrived on scene, Patrolman Dilts asked him to see if any parked vehicles in the immediate vicinity may have sustained damages. Patrolman traced the indentation marks back to another vehicle on Cross Street which had sustained heavy damages to the driver side.
As Patrolman Dilts approached the Volkswage, Gabriela Tavares exited the driver’s seat. He detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her, and he also noticed that her eyes were bloodshot and watery. Her speech was slurred and she seemed to have difficulty maintaining her balance. When he asked Tavares whether or not she had been drinking, she initially responded that she had been drinking a little. Then she admitted to having two beers, then three beers, before she subsequently admitted to having “a few” beers although she was unsure how many.
Based on the suspicion of intoxication, Tavares was afforded an opportunity to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. The first test was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test, where the officer observed the lack of smooth pursuit, sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, and nystagmus prior to 45 degrees. During the Walk and Turn test, Tavares continued to lose her balance and keep her arms at her sides. She failed to walk heel-to-toe and walked more steps than she counted. When the final One Leg Stand test was administered, Tavares was unable to keep her leg straight and maintain her balance.
Based on her performance during the field sobriety tests and the officer’s suspicion of intoxication, Tavares was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. During her transport to Police HQ, Tavares was very talkative and apologetic. Once she was at Police HQ, Tavares agreed to provide breath samples. Once the tests were administered at the alcotest machine, Tavares provided two adequate breath samples, and the results showed a BAC of 0.14%.
After she was processed, Tavares was released to her father at 4:45 AM after he signed the Potential Liability Waiver. She was given a municipal court date of June 2, 2021 with the following summonses: Driving While Intoxicated, Failure to Report an Accident, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Careless Driving.

Asleep at the Wheel - Repeat DUI Offender Arrested | Blue Patrol Bodycam
Around 3:29 AM on September 11, 2022, as Officers Da Cruz and Veloso were traveling North on North Broad Street, they observed a Blue 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander parked partially on the street and partially on the sidewalk blocking the driveway of 1480 North Broad Street. As they approached the vehicle, they observed a female in the driver seat. The female, later identified as 32-year-old Vanessa Reyes, was slumped over motionless the steering wheel with her hair over her face. On the passenger side, officers identified another male sleeping in the front passenger seat.
The officers began to knock on the window to attempt to awaken the driver and passenger. When neither passenger awakened, the Officer Da Cruz was able to open the passenger side door while Officer Veloso opened the driver side door. As soon as the door was opened, they detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, and they observed an open Milagro 1.75 liter tequila bottle on the front passenger floor board.
Officer Da Cruz turned off the vehicle, and Ms. Reyes was finally awakened when the male in the vehicle started to shake her. When Ms. Reyes awakened, she had a confused look and appeared to be unsure of where she was. She also had red glassy eyes and an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her breath. Officers had to confiscate the key fob after Ms. Reyes attempted to turn on the vehicle again.
Shortly afterwards, Ptl Rogriguez, Ptl Thomas, Ptl Walker, Ptl Lewis, and Sgt Wanat then arrived on the scene for back-up. When Ms. Reyes finally exited the vehicle, she had to lean herself against it to maintain her balance. When Ms. Reyes was asked where she was coming from, she stated that she was coming from a birthday party and admitted to drinking alcohol earlier.
Officer Da Cruz advised Ms. Reyes that a field sobriety test was going to be conducted because she was suspected of driving under the influence. The entire time, Ms. Reyes braced herself against her vehicle. Ms. Reyes failed to raise either one of her feet off the ground for the one leg stand test. Ms. Reyes also failed to walk heel-to-toe on the walk and turn test. Given her failure to follow instructions and apparent state of intoxication, Officer Da Cruz placed Ms. Reyes under arrest for suspicion of driving while under the influence (39:4-50). Shortly after, Ms. Reyes’ father arrived on scene to transport Ms. Reyes’ male passenger away from the scene.
Ms. Reyes was transported to Hillside Police HQ without incident. At HQ, she was searched by Ptl Lewis and placed on the prisoner bench. After she was read the N.J. Attorney General’s Standard Statement form as well as her Miranda Rights, she refused to provide a sample of her breath. Ms. Reyes was also checked for any active warrants, which came back negative. Subsequently, Ms. Reyes was released to her father at Police HQ after he signed the Potential Liability Form. She was issued 4 summonses: Operating Under the Influence, Open Container of Alcohol, Refusal to Submit to Chemical Test, Consent to take Samples of Breath.

Middle School Principal *vehicle crash* Arrested for DUI | Blue Patrol Bodycam
On the evening of August 30, 2022, West Orange Police were dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle crash into a residence on Rock Spring Road. Upon arriving, they observed a white 2015 Lexus RX3 idling in the driveway, and the front and rear airbags were deployed. The officer identified the operator of the vehicle as Ms. Aretha M. Dooley-Malloy, a resident of West Orange. As the officer asked Mr. Malloy to explain the incident, Ms. Malloy responded stating, “I have to use the bathroom.” When the officer informed her that she could utilize the bathroom after he was done with his investigation, Ms. Malloy continued to respond, “I have to use the bathroom.”
It was later determined that Aretha Dooley-Malloy was driving home after attending a mayoral campaign fundraiser for Bill Rutherford (currently a West Orange Councilman) at the Rock Spring Golf Club. Ms. Malloy later stated that she was not involved in a motor vehicle accident and that she pulled to the side of the road because she had to take a picture. The officer observed damage to the lawn, sprinkler head, and small brick wall attached to the driveway and bushes at the residence.
Ms. Malloy was then asked to produce her driver’s license, registration, and insurance card from her vehicle. It should be noted, Ms. Malloy never provided this officer with the requested documentation. While speaking with Ms. Malloy, the officer detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her breath and observed her eyes to be blood shot. Ms. Malloy was then asked if she had been drinking today to which she responded “yes, earlier in the day.” Patrolman Vanderhoof, Patrolman McManus, Patrolman Dsurney and Fire Rescue arrived on scene.
At this time, Ms. Malloy was asked if she would participate in a field sobriety test, to which she responded “I just have to use the bathroom.” Ms. Malloy continued to state that she had to use the bathroom and that she had a documented bladder medical condition. The Walk and Turn Test and One Leg Stand Test were conducted at this time with Patrolman McManus. Ms. Malloy continued to misunderstand the instructions given to her before each test and repeatedly stated that she had to use the bathroom.
Upon the officer’s observations and the results of the field sobriety tests, Ms. Malloy was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated (39:4-50). Once transported to police HQ, Ms. Malloy refused to sign the Miranda Rights statement and refused to provide a sample of her breath. During the booking process, Ms. Malloy failed to follow simple commands and was very uncooperative. While Patrolman Dsurney attempted to continue with fingerprinting, Ms. Malloy repeatedly removed her hand from the scanner and stated multiple times that “Karma is a bitch.” While Ms. Malloy was being fingerprinted, she spontaneously uttered that she was operating the vehicle and that she swerved out of the way while attempting to avoid hitting a deer. Ms. Malloy was advised on multiple occasions as to why she was arrested, but she continued to disregard the officers’ responses.
Ms. Malloy was issued the following tickets with a court date of September 8, 2022: Driving While Intoxicated, Consent to Taking Samples of Breath, Driving of Parking Unregistered Motor Vehicle, and failure to produce proof of insurance. After she was processed and held at police HQ, she was subsequently released to Mr. H. William Rutherford 3rd (Bill Rutherford), a West Orange Councilman, after he signed the Potential Liability Warning form. Following the incident, another administrator welcomed the Class of 2022-2023 at Liberty Middle School and Ms. Malloy's resignation was eventually accepted unanimously by the West Orange Board of Education.

Woman Gym Teacher Unable to Balance Herself during DUI Arrest | Blue Patrol Bodycam
On July 30, 2022 around 3:14 AM, Officer Phil Longo of the Sparta Township Police Department spotted a dark colored Hyundai Tucson driven by Christine Aschoff (age 27) tailgating a dark colored pickup truck. He also observed the vehicle failing to maintain its lane. As he closed the distance between his vehicle and the Tucson, he advised dispatch that he would be stopping the vehicle in front of Sparta Eye Associates on Sparta Avenue and initiated the traffic stop.
As he approached the Tucson from the passenger’s side and requested her documentation, he immediately detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the interior of the vehicle. The driver, Ms. Aschoff, provided him with a valid license and registration. While she was looking for her insurance card, Mr. Aschoff explained she was going home to Newton, NJ from the Horse Shoe Tavern in Morristown, NJ. When he asked Ms. Aschoff whether she had anything to drink, she stated “Yes” and that she had consumed about two drinks. Eventually, the officer was able to locate the insurance card. While speaking with her, he observed that Ms. Aschoff’s speech was slurred. Subsequently, he advised dispatch that he would need another unit to conduct balance tests.
The officer subsequently requested Ms. Aschoff to exit the vehicle for additional questioning. Ms. Aschoff informed him that she had two “Dirty Shirley” drinks, and she stopped drinking about 12:30 AM. Sgt. Shomp, Cpl. Lippencott, and Officer M. Poon arrived at the scene to assist. Cpl. Lippencott conducted the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test before Officer Longo explained and demonstrated all of the balance tests. On the HGN test, Cpl. Lippencott informed Officer Longo that Ms. Aschoff exhibited 6 out of 6 possible indicators.
During the Walk and Turn test, Ms. Aschoff took approximately 15 steps without turning around, instead of the 9 steps as instructed. While taking the steps, she could not walk heel to toe, and Cpl. Lippencott had to catch her on multiple occasions to ensure she Ms. Aschoff did not fall to the ground. Ms. Aschoff also failed to adequately perform the one leg stand test.
Based on the observed motor vehicle violations, the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her mouth, her admission to consuming alcoholic beverages, and her inability to perform the field sobriety tests, Officer Longo placed Ms. Aschoff under arrest for DWI. She was handcuffed, searched, and advised of her Miranda Rights.
At Police HQ, Ms. Aschoff agreed to take the breathalyzer test. The Alcotest 7110 MKIII-C reported breath test results of .15% BAC, which is almost double the legal limit. Ms. Aschoff was subsequently advised of her motor vehicle summonses and mandatory court date, and also given copies of her drinking and driving questionnaire and the Alcotest report. Ms. Aschoff was issued the following tickets: Driving While Intoxicated, Following Too Closely, Traffic on Marked Lanes, Careless Driving, and Failure to Notify DMV of Address Change. After Ms. Aschoff was processed and held at Sparta Township Police HQ, she was subsequently released to her friend Brett Schiller after he signed the Potential Liability Warning form.

Realtor Girl Arrested for DUI after Hoboken Car Wreck | Blue Patrol Bodycam
At approximately 6:52 PM on the evening of December 26, 2021, Officers Bianca Arroyo and Brandon Fitzgibbons were dispatched to the site of a motor vehicle accident involving multiple vehicles and possible injuries at 618 Bloomfield Street in Hoboken. The driver was identified as Raissa Gislene Restivo, a 34-year-old resident of Boca Raton, Florida. An officer approaching Restivo detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her breath, as well as watery eyes and slurred speech. Restivo had already admitted to an officer that she had been drinking earlier in the day.
Based upon their suspicion of impairment, the officers afforded Restivo the opportunity to participate in a Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST). At the completion of the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test, the officer noted that Restivo exhibited Lack of Smooth Pursuit, Distinct and Sustained Nystagmus at Maximum Deviation, and Onset of Nystagmus Prior to 45 degrees in both eyes. The officer also did not observe a Vertical Nystagmus, and Restivo continuously moved her head and failed to follow instructions.
The second test involved the Walk and Turn (WAT) Test. Upon beginning the instructional portion of the test, Restivo was placed in a heel to toe position while the officer demonstrated the test. Restivo proceeded to take 9 steps forward and could not maintain a heel to toe position throughout the course of the test. Restivo continuously failed to follow instructions that were explained to her before the WAT test.
The final test was the One Leg Stand (OLS). After the test was demonstrated for Restivo, she did not have any questions. Restivo began the test, but could not maintain her foot 6 inches off the ground. Also, Restivo dropped her foot down to the ground and could not maintain her balance.
Based on the officer’s observations and Restivo’s inability to properly perform the tests administered, Restivo was informed at approximately 7:12 PM that she was being placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated (39:4-50). After she was transported to Hoboken Police HQ, Restivo consented to providing breath samples. Restivo was subsequently transported to the Jersey City Police Department at 365 Summit Avenue to complete the breath test. Restivo’s breath test revealed a BAC of 0.17%, which was more than double the legal limit.
At approximately 8:37 PM, Restivo was transported back to Hoboken Police HQ. At this time, Lieutenant Gonzalez informed Officer Arroyo regarding the particulars in regards to the series of events that took place at the scene. According to witnesses, Restivo was driving at a high rate of speed which resulted in her colliding into a blue colored Chevy Malibu that was partially parked near a fire hydrant. The impact of the crash to the parked vehicle shifted the parked vehicle which then struck the victim Laruen Hardie Vallone as she was standing on the passenger side of the vehicle. Also, due to the impact of the crash, Restivo, who was driving a black Chevy Cruze, elevated the vehicle into the air and turned over, subsequently crashing into a properly parked gray colored Toyota Highlander on the other side of the road.
An ambulance arrived on scene to medically assess Hardie, and she was transported to Jersey City Medical Center (JCMC) for treatment. Officers Bates and Lupo traveled to JCMC to obtain an update regarding Hardie’s injuries. Officers were informed that Hardie had sustained a fractured upper femur to her right leg, and that her hip would need to be “reset” based on the injuries resulting from the crash.
At approximately 10:21 PM, Sergeant Roary Miller contacted Sergeant Ragland of the Hudson County Prosecutors Office – Crash Investigations Unit. Sergeant Miller was instructed by Sergeant Raglan to only process Restivo on Assault by Auto (3rd Degree) due to the totality of the circumstances, and they would only upgrade the injuries to the 2nd Degree crime of Serious Bodily Injury (SBI) if it was appropriate. Restivo was fingerprinted by Officer Fitzgibbons and subsequently issued a Summons for violating Assault by Auto (3rd Degree), along with citations for Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving. After she was processed, Restivo was released to a family member after she signed the Potential Liability Form.
