TMNT The Hyperstone Heist (Genesis) Review
I first uploded this to YouTube in 2017.
Just a look at Hyperstone Heist on the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. Kind of morphed into a mini comparison of Hyperstone and Turtles in Time, so I hope you don't mind.

Bloody Roar (PS1) Review
I first uploaded this in 2017 on Youtube.
This is a review for Bloody Roar on the PlayStation.
What it lacks in depth, it makes up for in fun. Great game, give it a try if you have never played it, or any other game in the series.

Lair on the PS3- A Review From A Nobody | It's not as bad as it was made out to be |
Lair is definitely a flawed game that hit with a polarizing control scheme, and various other technical glitches. However, this game is definitely a lot better than the reviews made it out to be. I don't give review scores, but this is a 7/10 kind of game give or take a point or half a point. The hype for the game was huge before it hit, filling a void in time where Sony desperately needed more killer apps for the PS3 to justify the system's price, and to convince more people to buy the system. Which made it's low review scores even more embarrassing for Sony at a time where they couldn't even buy good press if they wanted to.
Lair was never going to be a killer app. Even if it released day one with analog stick control, and all the technical glitches had been ironed out before release. Gaming had changed, and the days where a game like rogue leader could be a killer app for the Gamecube were long past.
At the time mainstream tastes had changed, and the dawn of the online, and digital era was upon us. Games had also jumped up from a $50 asking price to $60, and we thought the future of strictly single player games was in question, outside of something like Gta, or Oblivion that is. Lair could be beaten in a couple of hours, and it's only online connectivity was leaderboards which are still up to this day.
People wanted Gears of War, Halo 3, and eventually Modern Warfare. Most traditional single-player games were all but ignored by the vast majority of gamers in the PSWii60 era. First person shooters (predominantly modern shooters) and duck and cover third person shooters with a heavy emphasis on online play dominated the generation, and unless it was a big name franchise, most other traditional genres were put aside by gamers and developers. Whole genres, and sub genres of games more or less died, even if they had a strong showing on the PS2 from the previous generation.
3D platformers are only just now starting to recover from the seventh generation where we were pretty much down just to Ratchet and Clank, and Mario. 3D space, or airplane flight games pretty much died outside of Ace Combat, and Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X . This genre hasn't recovered from the seventh gen either. Even once strong names like Unreal Tournament 3 failed to do well enough to keep Midway Games from going out of business, despite selling a million copies.
Development costs went through the roof, and developers had to go with whatever popular tastes were at the time just to survive. Tons of great traditional style single player games were ignored by the mainstream gamers, outside of maybe weekend rentals, and Lair, being a single player game with a single-player focus, even had it released in perfect form wasn't going to sell systems. Not even better games that hit like uncharted, and Heavenly Sword which came out later were console sellers. GTA4, and Metal Gear Solid 4 were console selling games with a predominantly single player focus, but the tone for the seventh generation was already set before Lair even shipped. Plenty of new single player IPs would eventually come it, but at the first couple of years of the Xbox 360, and PS3's life weren't kind to most traditional style games.
Lair, for those who can look past it's flaws is still worth playing. It definitely plays a lot better with the analog sticks, so, again, make sure, if you have any interest in playing, or replaying this game to get your PS3 online to the playstation store and download the patch while it's still available, and the titan map pack for Unreal Tournament 3 while you're at it. This game is far from a 4 or 5 out of ten kind of game. Looking back on what we know now, I doubt most of the reviewers ever beat the game before they reviewed it. It it's lowest, Lair is a 6, because it's still playable. If you're a Rogue Squadron fan, there's still enough of that classic formula here to find some enjoyment out Lair. It's really not that bad of a game, and certainly isn't worthy of the cannon-fodder it was used as in online arguments. Haze? I can understand, but if Lair is the worst game you're ever played, you should probably play some more games.

How to Install The Retail Version of Unreal Tournament 3 on windows 10
I just got this game today, and there is an error that says "An administrator has blocked you from running this app." when you try to run the setup off the disk. A huge thank you to Reddit user AIgavemethisusername for posting this fix. For links to the reddit post, and to the Titian Pack go here:

Also, if you need help saving your settings, go into your PC's Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\SaveData and change the first part of the default Player.ue3profile to [your desired username].ue3profile in order to get it to save your key bindings and settings, otherwise the game will go back to the default setting each time.

Mirror's Edge on the Xbox 360 and PS3- A Review From a Nobody
Mirror's Edge was a revolutionary concept in a generation where I was starting to lose interest in modern games of the day. This was a breath of fresh air kind of game that came from DICE, the Battlefield developers.
I would like to start off by apologizing for the fact that I had to mute the background music for all the gameplay footage in this review to avoid a claim. Unfortunately, the music in Mirror's Edge is an instant DMCA claim, and while this review qualifies as fair use, I don't feel like fighting the claim. My apologies on this, because the music is such an important part of the game experience and really helps add to the atmosphere. I have put some of my own poorly made music in the background just to have some extra noise. It's not great, but it's the best I can do considering the circumstances.

Slave Zero on the Dreamcast- A Review From A Nobody
I've always appreciated Slave Zero for the exact reasons most people at the time of it's release disliked the game. At it's core, Slave Zero is an unapologetic straightforward action game who's main focus is action over everything else. The level designs are mostly straightforward corridors filled with baddies to destroy with only the slightest hints of exploration added. The corridors usually open up into larger areas that act as rooms just to destroy more enemies.
With a few exceptions, being missions that have specific objectives, the game mainly consists of starting at point A, destroying everything there, then continuing through corridors while destroying enemies, to get to point B where you destroy all the enemies there. The sense of scale in the game is impressive, as Slave Zero is a 60 foot tall mech that towers above buildings, and most enemies, and the concept and art direction hit on two things I am a sucker for: blowing stuff up in a giant mech, and a cyper-punk/Blade Runner style atmosphere. The combat in the game is excellent. Unlike the average mech title, Slave Zero is incredibly agile. He moves fast, jumps high, and the gunplay which consists of switching between two weapon types, ballistic and energy, while strafing, and also hitting enemies with rockets.
I love the feel of the combat in this game. There's something to be said about taking on waves of enemies while juking and jiving around their rockets, and forcing them to eat yours instead. The movement and aiming feels really good in this game, despite the Dreamcasts' single analog stick and some major framerate issues in the Dreamcast port of the game that really do put a damper on the combat in the later levels of the game.

Either someone for Wisdom Tree has trolled us all, or Super 3D Noah's Ark or Super Noah's Ark 3D, however you chose to pronounce it, really was the product of Wisdom Tree (the Color Dreams branch off known for making unlicensed Bible Games for the NES) really did license the Wolfenstein 3D Engine to produce an NES Fist Person Shooter based on Clive Barker's Hellraiser movie, abandoning it after realizing the prototype cartridge for the NES would cost around $100 to make a profit, and after Doom hit. Not wanting to ruin the reputation of their Christian games brand, they decided to take their already licensed Wolfenstien 3D engine and make a first person shooter based on Noah's Ark, first bringing it to the Super Nintendo, and later porting it to Dos

This is a compilation of my recent reviews. I previously uploaded them individually on their own on my channel. Also, after this upload, I will be taking a break from making content to focus on some other things in life. Nothing bad, video making just eats up a ton of time. If something comes up that I find truly inspiring, I'll make a video about it. Other than that, this will be my last upload for a while. I will probably still respond to comments, I just won't be making videos for a while.

NFL Gameday vs Madden | Retro Gaming's Biggest Football Rivalry of the Late 90's/2000's | NFL 2K vs Madden
I may not play football games, but even I find the good old NFL Gameday vs Madden feud to be interesting. You've gotta love a good old fashioned Football rivalry. Once the Rivalry between Gameday and Madden ended after the terribly Gameday 2001 on the PS2, Madden found itself competing directly against NFL 2K on the same consoles. Unfortunately, EA cheated to win, and we have been robbed of seeing epic football game rivalries since. Fun times for Sports gamers though.
Note: This footage was taken off a PS2 running the games, and I used the Hyperkin PS1/PS2 HDTV cable to upscale. The early madden games have tons of visual glitches if you use a PS3 to upscale, so I opted to used the PS2 for this video.

The Demo Disk I Absolutely Had to Have | Playing Metal Gear Solid for the First Time
One day, I was browsing the magazine rack at my local Kmart and happened to be turning through, I think it was EGM at the time, where I happened to browse to the back of the magazine where they would show previews for what every Ziff Davis published magazine would have in next month's issue. To my incredible excitement, I discovered that the next month's issue of the Official Playstation Magazine was going to have a playable demo of Metal Gear Solid. If there was one thing I knew for sure, I had to get my hands on that issue.
The hype for Metal Gear Solid was massive at the time. I was first introduced to the game's existence through an article and interview in the December 1997 issue of Gamepro Magazine. At the time I thought I was the only person in the world that even remembered Metal Gear on the NES, and seeing the interview and reading about the game made me super excited to play it.
Over the course of the next year, every gaming magazine under the sun was covering Metal Gear Solid as often as possible. This game was everywhere. The hype and excitement for the game was massive, and I'm sure I am not alone in saying, I wanted to play this game so badly. Up until this demo hit, the closest thing we could get to playing it was looking at still screen images in gaming magazines, and reading preview descriptions of the game.
Internet wasn't as big a thing, and there were no video platforms around to show fancy trailers, or gameplay samples. What we had were still screens, descriptions of the game, and our own imaginations. You would look at the screenshots, read the details, an then imagine what it was like to play the game based on what limited information you had on the game was. When the game hit, it either lived up, or surpassed what you imagined it would play like, or it was a disappointment. Sometimes it was completely different from what you imagined, but in a good way.
With 56K internet, there was no youtube, there were no streamers with early download codes to show the game off, just downloading a 30 second low rez clip of a game could take hours. If you weren't in the industry, going to E3, and other shows, the only way to see a trailer, or to play a game early was through demo disks that came with magazine publications, or PlayStation Underground which was Sony's Demo disk magazine that would send you demos every two months that had playable demos, and cool behind the scenes features.
When I finally got that demo home, man it did not disappoint. I tried every move I had read about in the magazines. Knocking on walls to get the guard's attention, using a guard as a human shield, having the guards follow my footprints. I even recognized some of the sound effects and music from the NES version. I don't know how many times I played through this demo, but it was a bunch.
It was so amazing to finally play Metal Gear Solid. It's simply one of the best, and most influential games of all time, and this was such an awesome time to be a gamer. 1998 was an amazing year for gaming, one of the best years ever in gaming.
Overall, it's a good issue of the official Playstation Magazine. I rarely read OPM, because it cost more, and I loved my PSM and Gamepro. However, the ocotober 1998 issues of the Official Playstation Magazine will always be a legendary issue to me thanks to the Metal Gear Solid demo. I will never forget playing this game for the first time. What an awesome time in gaming. 1998, arguably the best year in gaming history. If not the best, it's definitely up there.

The Ultimate PS2 Launch Guide VHS Version Remastered | Retro Gaming | |
This is just an upscale of the VHS version of the PS2 launch guide I made over a year and a half ago. I fixed the aspect ratio, upscaled it to 4K to make it even more ridiculous considering this was recorded from an actual VHS tape.
So what I did was take the video after I finished editing it, encode it into DVD format, hook up my DVD player to my VCR, recorded the DVD onto a VHS, and then captured the footage from my actual VCR. No VHS filters were used in this video, just a real VHS tape. I didn't even mean for the tape to mess up a little at the beginning of the video, it just happened that way. I chose the VHS format, because in the year 2000, VHS was still the main movie watching format. Some people have disagreed with me on that, but DVD players were still relatively new, and were expensive at the time, and VCR's were still a mainstay in most households.
The point was to make the video look like it was made in the year 2000, a couple of weeks before the PS2 hit. I wanted to make the PS2 launch guide that I wish I could have watched back in the year 2000 just to see the games in motion. It was one thing to see screenshots in a magazine, but a whole other thing to finally see PS2 games in motion.
When I uploaded the video, some people did complain about the stretched aspect ratio, so I fixed that, and also cut off the weird visual glitch the cheap upscaler I was using at the time put on the video. Other than that, this video is identical in content to the original video. The sound sync is a little off now, because I changed the video from 30fps to 60, but it's not terrible off, and only starts to show toward the end of the video.

Using the AverMedia TV Box 5 to upscale PS2 and N64 games
My apologies for the low volume of the samples. I had already recorded the majority of them before I realize I could turn the volume up on the TV Box itself. I turned the volume up as far as my video editing software would allow me, but it's still low. This was why I was speaking very low later in the vid, because I didn't want to blow someone's ear drums in case they were wearing headphones.
This is an interesting device. I saw it in an old issue of Gamepro Magazine, and I decided to hunt one down.

My Armored Core 2 (PS2) Review from 2013 -Remastered, and Re-Edited- | Retro Gaming |
This was my second ever game review on YouTube. When I made this review, I didn't have internet at my place, or even a smart phone to look things up for this video. There were quite a few years over the last decade when I didn't have internet at my place, so I would have either go over to a friend's place, or the public library, and upload the video off a flash drive. You gotta do what you gotta do sometimes. I also used an actual Socom Headset to do the voice over in this review.
I did what I could to make the visuals better, but Handbrake can only do so much. This is one of my favorite reviews I ever made. to see the original video go here: https://youtu.be/jVguWyh0E3o
In all, I cut out about 4 minutes from the original.
The original description for this video:
This is my second attempt at a review, so, please bear with me. last week, I was looking through a stack of my recent gamestop buys, games that don't have cases, just have CD sleeves, and I finally, after much debate, decided to play through an Armored Core game. Having owned 5 games in the series for years, I figured that the time was right to finally play one from start to finish.
