HB105 protects students by allowing a counselor to withhold information if there is reasonable belief that disclosure would cause abuse or neglect. Alaska School of Government Presents: Kim Bergy who is here to break down step by step how the BSA (Base Student Allocation) Formula works & how a $1,000 per student increase, is actually $2,000 per student. Alaskan educators continuously tell us we are suppose to be proud of them that 70% of Alaska schools get a F grade for providing an education. 20% get C’s & D’s & less than 10% Get A’s & B’s. Celebrate with them about how well they pretend to be doing…. Highlighting the 35 or so schools that scored above 90% out of 503 schools. Here are my suggestions that should be done before any increases to BSA. This list is just the tip of the iceberg that I would impose to happen if I was King for a Day. Defund all schools districts & Rebuild their financing from the ground up. Remove all DEI policies, ban, all cell phones & actually teach the assigned curriculum they are suppose to be teaching & watch how fast our schools Change. The classrooms that actually do that last step have the best scores in the state. Yet are still failing to educate. Why? Because based on internal investigations. Less than 30% of teachers in a given school actually teach the prescribed curriculum. This was disclosed all in a recent ASD School Board meeting from their own investigations. I would love a chart showing Alaska’s schools ranking & when policy changes were made. Things like adding DEI, affirmative action, etc, to the policies & funding they receive…. From 1970 to current. Alaska Education System will not do an average daily count for a year to get their Base Student Population for funding. If they did..: The Unions can’t focus what they spend promoting buts in seats campaign they have every year around October. How dare anyone suggest to put a mechanism in that might make them more accountable for what they get to spend. Instead of the artificially inflated numbers the Unions are spending on advertisement to get buts in the seats. That is the entire reason they only do the count for funding one month of the year. News flash Alaskans. The average of school attendance is a 28% Student Chronic absenteeism & is a HUGE problem they hide by doing the count, using just one months average total for the year. Today we'll get to here from the House Education Committee about: HB9 ADD FACULTY MEMBER UNIV BOARD OF REGENTS HB31 AK PERFORMANCE SCHOLARSHIP; ELIGIBILITY HB65 INCREASING THE "BASE STUDENT ALLOCATION" Keep in mind when listening to what they are telling us here that it's all about the "Narrative". I expect them to say that they have a Deficit of around $500 Million to cover K-12 & University of Alaska. Alaska Ranks near Dead Last for providing an Education at nearly double the costs of anywhere else. Has been this way for decades now. They claim more money will fix that. Clearly after decades of doing exactly that without improving result. Whatever they are doing with our money, clearly is not working. Our Government has about a $3 Billion+ Predicted Surplus this year & those in the House Education Committee will spin it as they don't have a Surplus for a rainy day. It must be spent to pad Educations Pockets instead. That way when oil prices drop. They can justify Using our entire PFD’s to fund Governments Spending. They will claim they don't have enough revenue to pay the bills & this “Surplus” is already been spent on "Future Spending". To justify what they take of them again this year. Never forget the big push these next two years is to complete the theft of our PFD. Alaska Senate Education Committee Presents: “DEED” Alaska Department of Early Education & Development Keep in mind when listening to what they are telling us here that it's all about the "Narrative". I expect them to say that they have a Deficit of around $500 Million to cover K-12 & University of Alaska. Alaska Ranks near Dead Last for providing an Education at nearly double the costs of anywhere else. Has been this way for decades now. They claim more money will fix that. Clearly after decades of doing exactly that without improving result. What every they are doing with our money, clearly is not working. Our Government has about a $3 Billion+ Predicted Surplus this year & those in the Senate Education Committee will spin it as they don't have a Surplus for a rainy day. It must be spent to pad Educations Pockets instead. That way when old prices drop. They can justify Using our entire PFD’s to fund Governments Spending. They will claim they don't have enough revenue to pay the bills & this “Surplus” is already been spent on "Future Spending". To justify what they take of them again this year. Never forget the big push these next two years is to complete the theft of our PFD. By Grow K-12/University Funding by 1/3 more than it already is, Add another $500 Million or more to Healthcare & bring back "Defined Benefits" that nearly bankrupted our State the last time they had it. Creating a Deficient that was over $20 Billion in the Hole. We still owe $4 Billion to the Benefits Program. Now they want to make that debt climb once again.
