Kim Bergy who is here to break down step by step how the BSA (Base Student Allocation) Formula works & how a $1,000 per student increase, is actually $2,000 per student.

Alaskan educators continuously tell us we are suppose to be proud of them that 70% of Alaska schools get a F grade for providing an education. 20% get C’s & D’s & less than 10% Get A’s & B’s. Celebrate with them about how well they pretend to be doing…. Highlighting the 35 or so schools that scored above 90% out of 503 schools.

Here are my suggestions that should be done before any increases to BSA. This list is just the tip of the iceberg that I would impose to happen if I was King for a Day.

Defund all schools districts & Rebuild their financing from the ground up. Remove all DEI policies, ban, all cell phones & actually teach the assigned curriculum they are suppose to be teaching & watch how fast our schools Change.

The classrooms that actually do that last step have the best scores in the state. Yet are still failing to educate. Why? Because based on internal investigations. Less than 30% of teachers in a given school actually teach the prescribed curriculum. This was disclosed all in a recent ASD School Board meeting from their own investigations.

I would love a chart showing Alaska’s schools ranking & when policy changes were made. Things like adding DEI, affirmative action, etc, to the policies & funding they receive…. From 1970 to current.

Alaska Education System will not do an average daily count for a year to get their Base Student Population for funding. If they did..: The Unions can’t focus what they spend promoting buts in seats campaign they have every year around October. How dare anyone suggest to put a mechanism in that might make them more accountable for what they get to spend. Instead of the artificially inflated numbers the Unions are spending on advertisement to get buts in the seats.

That is the entire reason they only do the count for funding one month of the year.

News flash Alaskans. The average of school attendance is a 28% Student Chronic absenteeism & is a HUGE problem they hide by doing the count, using just one months average total for the year.
