An exclusive look inside the fight against the junta in Myanmar | Al Jazeera Documentary
Myanmar’s military government is facing its biggest challenge since it seized power in a coup more than two years ago. This is the most decisive moment in 60 years, after a loose alliance of ethnic armed groups with newly formed anti-coup militias cut off key trading routes, seizing towns and dozens of outposts. For the first time, they are moving into areas the military once thought of as strongholds. Opposition forces now control half the country, advances that have never been achieved before.
Following on from our two previous films charting the course of the resistance, we have unique access through our embedded camera team to capture the story at its most critical time, and chart the progress of these idealistic young people as they take on the military – once considered the most powerful army in Southeast Asia.

King Charles to resume some public engagements as cancer treatment continues | BBC News
King Charles is to resume some public engagements after encouraging progress in his cancer treatment, Buckingham Palace has said.
However it won't be a full return to official engagements for the King, who began his treatment in February.
The type of cancer has not been disclosed. The palace said the King’s doctors were "very encouraged by the progress made so far and remain positive about the King's continued recovery". However they said it was “too early to say” how much longer his treatment would continue.
King Charles will begin his partial return to public engagements with a symbolic trip to a cancer treatment centre. The palace said he would undertake more external engagements and host a state visit by the Emperor and Empress of Japan.
A picture of the King and Queen Camilla, taken earlier this month in the gardens of Buckingham Palace, has been released.

Thousands of US Troops and Marine Forces Arrive in Philippines
US Military Channel: Thousands of US Troops and Marine Forces Arrive in Subic Bay Airport, Philippines
U.S. Troops and Marines with 3rd Marine Littoral Regiment arrive at the Subic Bay International Airport, Philippines in preparation for Balikatan exercise.
Balikatan is an annual exercise between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and U.S. military designed to strengthen bilateral inoperability, capabilities, trust and cooperation built over decades of shared experiences.
Balikatan is the largest annual exercise between the two allies and 2023 marks its 38th iteration and the largest iteration to date, with more than 17,600 participants. It provides an opportunity for the two militaries to enhance cooperation, increase capabilities and improve interoperability.
The Balikatan exercise has increased in complexity and high-end warfighting mission sets over the past several years. A focus point in Balikatan 2023 was bilateral integration of command and control, sensors, and multi-domain fires. This enabled expanded battlefield awareness, the sharing of targeting data between geographically dispersed units, and precision strikes in a contested maritime environment.

Why Israel’s ultra-Orthodox Jews might soon have to serve in the military | DW News
Since Israel’s founding, ultra-Orthodox Jews in the country have been exempt from serving in the military so they can better devote themselves to religious study.
Today they number some 66,000 but last month, Israel's top court effectively lifted that exemption, triggering huge protests from the Orthodox community.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has until the end of the month to agree on a new conscription plan.
