Disney and Lucasfilm know that their latest Star Wars project, The Acolyte, is a dumpster fire, so it's no wonder they have ramped up their defenses ahead of it's release this Tuesday. Target has drastically scaled down it's Pride Collection for 2024 to a meager 75 items. That is a 96% reduction from 2023 when only the Bud Light Boycott was a bigger backlash in regards to Pride Month Propaganda. Inspecting the business numbers paints a much more dire picture for the big box retailer and this decision to cut nearly 2,000 line items should come as no surprise. Walmart, who also partakes in the Pride Month festivities, is doing a much more subdued offering owing to several factors. They are getting a bit of push back but it's nothing in comparison to the massive blunder that was last year. George R.R. Martin found time enough to opine about untalented screenwriters butchering classic works, but not enough time to finish Winds of Winter. It's fine, if you don't finish the book, they can't adapt it! Martin is correct in his assessment that most of the adaptations being churned out in Hollywood are trash and below the quality of the source material. "999 times out of 1,000 they are worse than the original," is the quote from the blog. He blames transforming the source into something different, something that the source never was to begin with. It's just funny how you can say something like that when your work is on both sides of this opinion. Tom Bombadil is finally getting to be adapted in a major work for the first time, but unfortunately it's for Amazon Prime's The Rings of Power Season 2. Attempting to win back the fans they angered with Season 1, they are bringing the perplexing Bombadil to the show for some Tolkien credibility, but this will only be the most recent character/concept that is ruined by these amateur filmmakers who are in way over their heads. Doctor Who just posted its best overnight rating of the season and it's an episode where Ncuti Gatwa is barely in the show! To say Russell T. Matt Parker and Trey Stone crafted a story in their unique way to dunk on celebrity Ozempic usage, instant gratification, body positivity and all other sacred idols in that space. Chiefly amongst them was the "poor person" alternative to Ozempic, the singer Lizzo. Her response to being the butt of the episode long joke is telling on many levels. Nintendo of America localizers appear to have turned a character in the new Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door remake trans. Vivian, one of the ghost character in the GameCube classic was depicted in the 2004 original as a girl, but now there is allusions to that not being the case. The truth of the matter is somewhat in the details as this character had been referred to in the official materials as an otokonoko, a Japanese Fem-boy, in the previous iteration. While there are more concrete changes in the game, this one seems to be a non starter. Japan is a weird place with this stuff, so while it might fit the new direction for Nintendo of America, not all that glitters is gold and not all that gender-bends is woke.
