In this and age, when everyone and their grandma have access to the almighty World Wide Web, it seems to be pretty easy to become a viral star. All you have to do is be yourself (sadly, the ‘yourself’ that the world would want to see), have a camera on hand and record yourself do whatever it is you like. Dance, sing, tell jokes, show makeup tutorials, sketch, draw...just show the world your talent.

It seems that this is especially easy for kids, given how adept they are with everything having to do with technology. They grow and learn and adapt to new developments so fast, it can be hard for us, adults, to catch up with them. Naturally, when we see a video of a young kid doing something cute or funny, we melt at the sight and probably share that clip with friends to make their day. But when the kid’s spotlight in their video is blatantly stolen by someone else, now that is really something to behold.

Like this girl, for example. Bella was recording herself dancing in front of the laptop to ‘Juju On That Beat’ by American hip hop duo Zay Hilfigerrr and Zayion McCall. The song was originally posted to McCall's YouTube channel in 2016, as a track from his mixtape ‘Why So Serious?’. He posted the song to his channel again a month later, where it received over 45 million views and became a viral dance challenge.

In case you haven’t noticed so far, dance challenges are a big and very frequent thing on YouTube. The difference with TZ Anthem seems to be the need for some particularly limber legs. The challenge has taken over people’s home, living rooms, locker rooms, cafeterias, parking lots, not to mention social media!

Bella decided she should join in on the challenge, so she set up the computer on the coffee table in her parent’s living room, pulled up the song and started dancing. Sort of. The true treat in this here clip comes when her mom Ashe Parker decided she should give the challenge a go. Right there, with her daughter, but behind her back.

It should come to no surprise that the mom could follow up on her daughter’s dancing beat by beat. She actually knew the choreography and she wasn’t even looking at the screen, but at the dad, who has been recording this whole time! Suddenly Bella decides to stop the music, at which point her mom sounds from the back, rapping the lyrics to the song. Too bad we can’t see the girl’s face when she sees her mom stealing the thunder. “Mom!”

She originally posted the video about a year ago on YouTube and it has over 100,000 views, but the comments have been disabled for it and we have a pretty good idea as to why. According to the New York Magazine, “one engine for TZ Anthem Challenge’s viral success has been its adoption by young white women, whose participation in the challenge (and skill at doing so) have made them subject to sarcastic praise, accusations of cultural appropriation, and, of course, memeification.” Still, we think that Bella did a pretty solid job, don’t you think?
