This debate is simply an academic discussion about Hinduism and its treatment of women. Hindu scriptures contain many shocking and offensive teachings, and we need to discuss it. But the audience should remember that moderate Hindus reject these teachings and condemn their scriptures. Radical Hindus, however, refuse to disavow the horrific beliefs and practices within these texts. This matters because these texts are used by radical Hindus in India to kill and abuse women in the millions.
