Staten Island Provides Lovely View Of The Statue Of Liberty
Traveling can be frustrating, when you’re surrounded by other tourists and trying to stay on a budget. The Statue of Liberty is an important landmark that not only shows American independence from Britain, but also has become a symbol to immigrants moving to America, that America represents the ideas of freedom, prosperity and democracy. This video shows you the best way to see one of America’s most iconic landmarks while getting a great view, not spending any money, and not being surrounded by tourists. By taking the advice from a girl who has lived in New York City for over 13 years, you will get the best authentic experience of the Statue of Liberty.
Ironically, going to the Statue of Liberty gives you one of the worst views of the statue. When on Liberty Island, the only view you can get of Lady Liberty is from the pedestal of the statue and of the statue’s feet. Additionally, walking to the top of the statue does give you a very good view of New York City either. First you have to reserve tickets beforehand, and then after walking a tremendous 377 stairs you can only view the city through tiny glass windows. After all that effort, you will only get a disappointing view of the city. Terrible!
However, the girl in the video, who has lived in New York for over a decade, advises that instead of visiting the Statue of Liberty, you should take the Staten Island Ferry instead. The ferry runs from lower Manhattan every half an hour, and she says that it will provide the best views of Lady Liberty. The 25 minute ferry ride is rarely crowded, and you get to experience the city in a more authentic way. In addition, rather than spending a ton of time and money going to the Statue of Liberty, the Staten Island Ferry is free and relaxing.
The Statue of Liberty is an interesting landmark. The statue was gifted to America by the French to show how the French stood by the Americans in their newly independent nation. The tablet that Lady Liberty holds declares the year 1776 when America became independent, but also the broken chains around her feet show how America broke free from the British rule. The Statue of Liberty quickly became a symbol for people moving to America about the ideas of freedom, prosperity and democracy. It’s only fitting to see this great American symbol from a better view using the Staten Island Ferry, rather than paying a lot of money, climbing a lot of steps, and then having a poor view of both New York, but also Lady Liberty.
What do you think of the video? Do you have any tips for viewing places more authentically that tourists may not know about? Make sure you tell us in the comments down below what you thought of the video and to be sure to share this video with others so they can save money and have a more authentic experience too!
