On this episode of the Dirty Side of Leadership Podcast, Ron and Kristin discuss the topic of gossip in the workplace. They delve into the dynamics as it pertains to the gossiper and the gossipie. They discuss psychological terms such as “self-serving bias,” which is the tendency we all have to give ourselves the benefit of the doubt and to view ourselves more positively than an objective assessment would warrant; and, the “false consensus” effect whereby we tend to assume or overestimate that others view things the same way we do.

Next, Ron and Kristin discuss what some have reported as the benefits of gossip; and finally, they will provide listeners with strategies to minimize gossip, both as the gossiper and the gossipie.
