During the response to COVID-19 and the 2020 election, multiple Executive level agencies consulted and confronted social media companies like Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube on the idea that they were providing "disinformation" and sought the assistance of these companies to silence statements the Executive Branch did not like.

The States of Missouri and Louisiana (and multiple medical doctors suing in their private capacity) sought an injunction to stop these agencies and the White House from coercing the social media companies. This ultimately resulted in the 5th Circuit issuing an injunction against the White House and multiple Executive level agencies from contacting the social media companies...outside of limited topics.

This was argued in front of SCOTUS on March 19, 2024
