We look at what I refer to as a broken relationship between Africa and the United Nations. The UN peacekeeping operations in Africa have been largely successful, and one begins to wonder why Mali, Niger, and DRC governments have asked the UN forces to leave.

The UN has been accused of being ineffective in its peacekeeping operations, but there is also a sinister side of things: allegations of sexual violence and abuse of the very vulnerable people these forces are meant to protect.
