Soldiers in Niger announce coup d'etat, remove President Bazoum

A group of soldiers appeared on national television on late Wednesday night, announcing they had seized power and removed President Mohamed Bazoum from his position.
The announcement came hours after reports emerged that Bazoum was being held by presidential guards. The soldiers have ordered a curfew and said the borders are closed until further notice.
