In this #YouTube Shorts episode, we tease the installation video of a new replacement shell for a Sega Dreamcast available from Jason at Game-Tech.

I have to admit, I've never been the biggest fan of the Dreamcast. I really didn't like the controller, I thought it was rather uncomfortable to hold and use. But since the release of the Retro Fighters StrikerDC, I've played more Dreamcast games than ever before. I've since picked up a MODE from Terra Onion, DCHDMI HDMI mod kid, and in January 2021, I ordered a new case for my Dreamcast from Jason at Game-Tech US to further customize my system.

Jason offers a variety of shells for the Dreamcast, along with for the Saturn. There are a boatlod of color options you can go with, including a lot of unique character and franchise themed shells and cases. The case I went with is called "Crystal Red", in an attempt to match my red Striker DC. The colors aren't an exact match, but I have to say the colors are pretty darn close. The case itself doesn't include any screws, so you'll need to re-use the screws from your original system. The case doesn't include a jewel, but Jason does offer a variety of options here as well.

The overall feel, fit, and finish of this new shell is nothing short of phenomenal. There are areas where there are complex bends and angles where lessor cases may have the material be thinner to get around those sorts of angles. Not these cases; The consistency of the material thickness is top-notch and a welcome sight to see.

From the box, I was happy to see certain things already done for the end user. The power and eject buttons are pre-installed, and the spring mechanism is already hooked up for lid as well. And I have to say the movement of the disc lid is buttery smooth, like it's soooooo good! There is a separate molded part of the case to accommodate the modem, and the controller port cover is its own molded piece as well.

I am super excited to finally be able to get this case and to get to work on modding my Dreamcast. Between the MODE, DCHDMI, Striker DC, and now this, I will have the ultimate Dreamcast for me. Make sure you are subscribed to the channel as I will have 3 separate videos showing the installation of each of these components.
