Day 8 Snowboarding - Alaska Front Yard Terrain Park

On my 8th day of ever snowboarding, I woke up early to a beautiful, crisp winter morning in the Chugach mountains. The snow was freshly fallen and untouched, and I couldn't wait to get out there and shred. I packed my gear and headed out to my small front yard terrain park, where I had built two little jumps and a nice drop the day before.

As I strapped on my snowboard and made my way to the top of the hill, I felt a rush of excitement and anticipation. I had been looking forward to this moment for days, and I was finally going to get to test out my skills on the jumps and drop I had built.

As I started down the hill, I felt a bit nervous and unsure of myself. I had only been snowboarding for a week, and I knew that I still had a lot to learn. But as I picked up speed and approached the first jump, I felt a surge of confidence and knew that I was ready for this.

I launched off the jump and felt the thrill of flying through the air. I landed smoothly and continued on down the hill, feeling more and more confident with each run. I hit the second jump and the drop with ease, and I couldn't help but feel proud of myself for building such a fun and challenging terrain park.

But as the day came to a close, I realized that I had only scratched the surface of what my terrain park had to offer. I had almost two acres of the hillside to play with, and I knew that I could build so much more. I started planning for the future and thinking about all the trails and features that I could add to my terrain park.

Honestly, I feel like I am 15 again and learning how to skateboard by streetlight in crappy parking lots! The excited enthusiasm of leaning new skills never seems to leave me and snowboarding has definitely awakened something!
