I have always questioned the authenticity of the narratives told as to why we celebrate Navaratri. A common trait among some of the popular stories behind South Asian holidays is that they portray our Tamil ancestors in a negative light...

Growing up I was never told a version of the modernly popular narrative.

The fundamentals of Tamil heritage stemmed from worshipping Nature, and our Ancestors.

Although Navaratri is not considered an Ancient Tamil festival, there are Tamils who celebrate this festival. When asked why, you may typically hear them say, they're praying to the Ancestors and Universe.

Knowing our Ancestors understood the energetic changes within our universe, here is my perspective on why I believe Navaratri is celebrated. I implore you to do your own research if you're interested in learning more about the festival!

I've embarked on a journey to explore & reconnect with my Tamil roots, here's some fascinating things I'm learning. I hope you'll join and grow with me!
