Hello and welcome to the Ancient wisdom modern mind podcast and today I would like to share with you a quick breathing meditation to calm and stimulate the vagus nerve.

Have you heard of your vagus nerve? It's a nerve that connects your brain to your gut and is in charge of
• making sure your organs are doing ok and,
• turning on your body's anti-stress parasympathetic nervous system response.

Try this 1 minute breathing meditation to activate your vagus nerve and jumpstart your anti-stress response for a quick stress relief before a performance or if you are suddenly feeling overwhelmed and you will feel more settled and calm by spending just 1 minute focused on your breathing with this quick relaxation techniques.

Just 1 minute will help you feel refreshed and clear your head whenever you feel you need a break in your day while helping reduce stress and recharge your energy.

Your vagus nerve plays a key role in your overall well-being and performance. Whether you are feeling anxiety or depression, you can use tools to engage your social nervous system to re-establish higher order nervous system functions.

▶️ Here’s how it works: using Diaphragmatic breathing, or “belly breathing
• Breathing through the nose
• Breath into the Diagram to a count of 5
• Breathing out drawing in the belly to a count of 7
• Repeat the cycle.
