The Vedas are a large body of religious texts originating in ancient India. Composed in Vedic Sanskrit are the oldest layer of Sanskrit literature and scriptures of Hinduism. The Upanishads are late Vedic Sanskrit texts of religious teachings and ideas still revered in Hinduism.

Author Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, second President of India. He was born on 5th September, 1888 and became a statesman and a scholar. The Upanisads are ancient philosophical texts that form the basis of the Hindu religion. The Hindus believe that these ancient works reveal the truth of the ultimate reality, and the path to moksha , or salvation. There are more than 200 Upanishads.
