Dikrong has started its journey from the hills of Arunachal Pradesh and flows mainly towards south. Almost parallel to Subansiri, Dikrong came down to the plains with plenty of water during rainy season. But in winter, like almost all rivers from Arunachal Pradesh, Dikrong also looses its water volume. It has crossed NH 52 and railway line from Rangia to Jonai on the north bank of Brahmaputra. Main town on its bank are Bandardowa (A P) and Bihpuria (Assam). Dikrond merged with Subansiri near Majuli island.It also carries huge volume of sand andt silt. There is a plan to divert its water to Upstream side of Subansiri to enhance the water volume of water in the reservoir of Subansiri dam site.
