In this episode of the VMblog Expert Video Interview Series, we spoke with Barak Schoster, CTO and Co-Founder of Bridgecrew, a developer-first #cloud #security company.

Quick background. Bridgecrew's stated mission is to bridge the gap between cloud security and developers. It's undeniable that security is shifting left and becoming more automated, as it's being deployed more and more as code. And that means it will fall within the developer's purview. The company was started because they saw that there was a huge bottleneck in security engineering, in DevSecOps, and how engineers were running cloud infrastructure security.

Watch this video interview to learn more as Schoster dives in and talks about the rise in DevSecOps, and explains the move to cloud and distributed environments and how that creates unique challenges. We also discuss in more detail the differences between cloud infrastructure security and application security and where they overlap. You'll also want to hear as Schoster talks about their VS Code extension that flags security concerns for developers right within their dev environment.
