Rules
The castaways get a second chance to revisit some of the challenges from earlier in the season.
In early seasons, the challenge was simply one general obstacle course. However, since Survivor: All-Stars, the challenge was generally held in separate rounds. Whoever finishes the final task first wins the challenge.
History
United States
The challenge was first used in Survivor: The Australian Outback as a Reward Challenge for a Pontiac Aztek that converts into a tent, with a meal and hot shower included. The castaway start blindfolded and feet shackled. The Castaway must use two carabiners to navigate a ropes course, keeping one connected at all times. When they reach the end of the course, they will ring a bell, allowing them to take off their blindfold. Then, they must solve a slide puzzle. When they compete the puzzle, the castaways will get a key to unlock their shackles. Then, the castaways take a bucket, filling it with water from a barrel. They then cross a narrow balance beam to a fire scale and filled the water bucket until it started spitting water out. After that, the castaways must build a fire to burn though a rope, making it raise and setting a fuse...
In Survivor: Africa, the challenge was used as an Immunity Challenge where the castaways must traverse an obstacle course built from elements from past challenges of the season. The first person to traverse it would win. Lex won.

In Survivor: All-Stars, as a Reward Challenge, the castaways must cross a long balance beam, with the last to cross being eliminated from the challenge. The last four must then do a military crawl to a slide puzzle, with the last to finish the puzzle being eliminated from the challenge. The last three must then stomp an item from a balance beam into a raised bucket three times, with the last one to complete the round being eliminated. The last two must then climb a rope ladder to catch a flying fox. First castaway to jump off the flying fox and grab a set of keys wins reward. Boston Rob won the challenge and a car and chose Amber to join him on reward. Amber was given a car as a result of being picked by Boston Rob.
In Survivor: Vanuatu, the castaways first had to go under a mud crawl. Scout was last and was eliminated. The second round, the contestants had to catch a pig with an orange stripe. Eliza was unable to do so and was eliminated. Next, the castaways had to untie knots to rearrange a tiki puzzle. Chris had the lead but lost a piece, allowing Julie and Twila to advance to the final round. In the final round, the contestants had to first cross a balance. Then take a slingshot and knock out all of the targets. Julie had the lead all the way and won. Julie decided to take Chris with her on the reward to a horseback on Mt. Yasur.

Now Who's in Charge Here?! is the twelfth episode of Survivor: Vanuatu.
Challenge: Troubled Water
Winners (according to finish): Eliza Orlins, Ami Cusack and Chris Daugherty
https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Troubled_Water
Troubled Water (also known as Floatsam and Jetsam) is a recurring challenge on Survivor.
Rules
Castaways must race across a series of obstacles situated in the water. If they fall off an obstacle, they have to restart the obstacle from the beginning. When they reach the end of the course, they will obtain an item, then head back across the course to shore. The first person to finish the course (and in some cases, solve a puzzle with the obtained item) wins the challenge.
History
The challenge debuted in Survivor: Vanuatu, where it came down to Ami Cusack and Eliza Orlins as they both got their three flags. However, as they were running up to place their flags in their posts, Ami fell in the water, allowing Eliza to win the car. Coming in second and third place, Ami and Chris Daugherty joined Eliza on a road trip to a resort.
In Survivor: Cook Islands, Ozzy Lusth won yet another Immunity Challenge, beating the six other competitors to win immunity.
The challenge appeared as the final seven Immunity Challenge in Survivor: Cambodia. After Spencer Bledsoe won, Tasha Fox, who was still in the water, accidentally swallowed salt water and had to be helped out by medical.
Trivia
The puzzle used in the Survivor: Cambodia iteration of this challenge was the same puzzle used in the Survivor: Worlds Apart premiere episode, "It's Survivor Warfare". Spencer remembered the puzzle from watching Worlds Apart and solved it in fifteen seconds.
In Cambodia, the course was roughly 328 feet from the puzzle tables to the floating buoys. Also, the boats used were the same ones from the Boats, Brains & Brawn challenge earlier in the season.

Twists/Changes
Expanded Cast: Following its predecessor, this season also featured eighteen castaways.
Tribe Composition: The castaways are divided into tribes of nine based on gender: The Lopevi tribe was composed of all men and the Yasur tribe was composed of all women.
Double Tribal Council: On Day 7, both tribes were forced to attend Tribal Council separately to vote out one of their own.
Tribe Switch: On Day 11, selected tribe "chiefs" were tasked to rearrange the tribes, mixing up the men and the women. Two members from both tribes joined the other.
Merged Tribe Composition: The merged tribe was composed of ten members.
Final Tribal Council Format: Two finalists faced a jury of seven. The jurors individually addressed the finalists.
Season Summary
The players were brought into the game at a native gathering, with the natives dividing the group to men and women. After the opening ceremony, the men were named the Lopevi tribe, and the women the Yasur tribe. Following the ceremony's conclusion, both groups were sent to find their camps in the dark.
At the first Immunity Challenge, Lopevi lost; mainly due to Chris' inability to cross over a balance beam. This seemed like the end of the game for him; however, he succeeded in convincing the older men of the tribe to form an alliance and vote off the younger men. At the all-female Yasur, two factions also based around age quickly emerged, both fighting over Dolly's vote. With Dolly refusing to commit to either alliance, a concerned Eliza made a temporary jump to the older women to vote Dolly out.
A Tribe Switch occurred on Day 11, mixing the two tribes. At the new Lopevi, the men decided to invite Twila into their alliance, who she swore that both she and Julie would side with them come the merge. On the new Yasur, there were frequent clashes between Ami (the head of the women's...

Return of the Outcasts
In Vanuatu, the caller (Lea Masters for Lopevi and out Scout Cloud Lee for Yasur) must guide three groups (each tied together, in two pairs and one group of three) to retrieve twelve pairs of puzzle pieces both on land and in the water, then work to assemble three puzzles on a set of scaffolding. Lopevi managed to collect their puzzle pieces first and extended their lead after Scout failed to spot a pair in the water, allowing them to assemble the puzzles and climb the scaffolding first, winning reward and immunity flint, and sending Yasur to Tribal Council. Another variation of this challenge was used again on Day 30 when the final seven had to direct their blindfolded loved ones through a course to find three bags of puzzle pieces. Once the loved ones found all the bags, the loved ones and castaways had to solve a puzzle. Ami Cusack, Chris Daugherty, Julie Berry, Scout Cloud Lee, and Twila Tanner all managed to reach the puzzle with their loved ones, with Ami and her girlfriend, Crissy, completing the puzzle first to win Ami immunity.
In Guatemala, Brooke Struck for Nakúm and Gary Hogeboom for Yaxhá served as the callers for their tribes. The blindfolded castaways must collect nine bundles of materials needed to construct an archeological tent, while the callers must guide three groups of tribemates (blindfolded and in two pairs and one group of three). After collecting all bundles, the blindfolds can be removed and the tribe must assemble the tent. After assembling, the tribe must go back to their tribe mat. Yaxhá collected their pieces first, but quickly stumbled as they built their tent, giving way for Nakúm to win reward.
The challenge was used again in Fiji. Michelle Yi served as the caller for Moto, while Lisi Linares served as the caller for Ravu. The caller must guide one blindfolded member at a time down a field to smash one of five hanging skulls with a Fijian war club, grab the tiles that fall out, take them to the puzzle solving station, and run back. Once all five sets of tiles are on the station, the entire tribe...

On the new Yasur, there were frequent clashes between Ami (the head of the women's alliance) and Rory, the latter of whom narrowly avoided elimination when the women decided to vote out the untrustworthy Lisa over him.
On Day 19, the two tribes merged and took the name Alinta, with the women outnumbering the men, six to four. While the men reformed their alliance, Julie and Twila broke their promise to them. The six women joined forces and eliminated the men until only Chris was left. Chris was set to be voted out when he failed to win immunity on Day 30, but the women's alliance began to crumble as they decided to vote out Eliza instead. This allowed Scout and Twila, the latter who swore on her son's life that she wouldn't betray Ami and Leann, to pull in Chris and Eliza and flip the game on its head. The plan worked, as Ami and her allies were systematically voted out. Chris won the last two Immunity Challenges, which allowed him to remain in power. He ultimately took Twila with him to the Final Two.
At the Final Tribal Council, Chris was heavily criticized particularly by Julie and Eliza for breaking promises and abusing relationships, while Twila was confronted for swearing on her son's life and attitude. Chris's ability to stay in the game despite the incredible odds against him convinced the jury to vote for him. He won the title of Sole Survivor by a vote of 5-2.
Trivia
This is the first season with 18 castaways where all of them are new players.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Get_a_Grip
Get a Grip is a recurring endurance challenge that originated in Survivor: Vanuatu and has since been used in several later seasons.

History
United States

The challenge was again used as the first individual Immunity Challenge in Cook Islands after the merge. After 2 hours and 15 minutes and a heavy storm settling in partway through the challenge, Ozzy Lusth ultimately outlasted Candice Woodcock to win immunity.
In Tocantins, this challenge was once again the first individual Immunity Challenge after the merge. Tyson Apostol ultimately outlasted Debbie Beebe after over thirty minutes to win immunity.
In Heroes vs. Villains, the challenge was again the first post-merge Immunity Challenge. After over 1 hour and 35 minutes, the last Hero, Candice Woodcock, inexplicably stepped down, leaving Villain allies Danielle DiLorenzo and Parvati Shallow to cut a deal to allow Danielle to win immunity.
In South Pacific, the challenge was used as the final Redemption Island duel. After over 40 minutes, Ozzy Lusth defeated Brandon Hantz, permanently eliminating Brandon, and allowing Ozzy to re-enter the game.
In Blood vs. Water, the challenge was used again used as Redemption Island duel, this time to re-enter the game at the merge. After over 20 minutes, John Cody fell off first, followed by Laura Boneham, allowing Laura Morett to win. John and Laura B. were permanently eliminated, while Laura M. was able to re-enter the game.
In Worlds Apart, the challenge was once again the first individual Immunity Challenge. After around an hour, Joe Anglim ultimately outlasted Carolyn Rivera in the middle of a rainstorm to win immunity.
In Game Changers, the challenge appeared as the final twelve Immunity Challenge. Tai Trang ultimately outlasted Ozzy Lusth after 1 hour and 35 minutes to win immunity.
In Winners at War, the challenge was again the first individual Immunity Challenge, with both the longest-lasting man and woman winning. In Australian Survivor (2016), the challenge was used as the third individual immunity challenge. Kylie Evans won the challenge after over six hours when Brooke Jowett agreed to step down in exchange for a letter from home.
Champions v Contenders (2018)
In Brains v Brawn, the challenge appeared as a duel, where the last two people voted out of the Fire tribe, Baden Cooke and Hayley Leake, competed to return into the game. For 20 minutes, Baden struggled to maintain his grip on the log, while Hayley hung on comfortably. In the end, Baden dropped first and was eliminated from the game, becoming the first member of the jury.
Heroes v Villains
France
...
New Zealand
Thailand
South Africa
The challenge appeared in Maldives as the Final Immunity Challenge. Under torrential rain, the final three held on to slippery poles in a bid to get a spot in the Final Two. Shortly before the 45-minute mark, Bonnie Henna gave up and opted to bail out. After one hour, the rain had subsided, and the final two contestants standing restated their resolve to keep holding on. Two hours in, the storms returned and, at 2 hours and 58 minutes, Hykie Berg slipped and Letshego Moshoeu won her third Immunity Challenge.

Culture Shock and Violent Storms is the tenth episode of Survivor: Vanuatu.
Day 27
CHRIS
“ Yeah, things have changed. There's dissension in the ranks. The women are not tight, and the women come across cocky, confident. They have since the merge, since Rory went home, and it got to Scout the way the other girls were coming across-- you know, the cocky way Ami presents herself. Me and Chad, we're doing our best. We're playing it. We're tugging at their hearts. They are rolling in it. Scout bit. You question a woman's character, you question a woman's ability, she'll snap your neck! You open up your heart, show a woman you're vulnerable, then they start thinkin' with their heart. That's when they open up that back door. That's what happened this time. ”
VOTED OUT:
Chad Crittenden
Voting Confessionals
AMI
“ (voting against Chad) Chad, sorry. I have to stick true to my alliance and my word, and you're the next one to go. Sorry, bud. ”
CHAD
“ (voting against Eliza) Eliza, you've been on the chopping block seems like forever, and with this vote, I hope that my alliance stays strong. ”
CHRIS
“ (voting against Eliza) Eliza, I'm voting for you because your alliance people told me to vote for you. ”
Final Words
CHAD
“ Ami was the one that single-handedly convinced the women outside of Scout, Twila, Chris and I, to change their vote from Eliza to me and I don't know how she did it, but she did it. She is the woman power thing. What can I say? I'm-- I'm not sore or sour but damn, you know, I wish I could've gone further, that's for sure. ”
Trivia
After this episode, Chris is the only male and original Lopevi member left in the game.

Season Summary
...into the game at a native gathering, with the natives dividing the group to men and women.

Rules
Castaways must answer a series of questions about the local culture. The person or tribe who answers the most questions correctly wins.
From Marquesas to Guatemala, the castaways had objects such as masks or pots, usually held up by ropes, which represent their "lives" in the challenge. Each correct answer gives the castaway the right to break one of their opponents' items or cut their rope. The last contestant left with their object intact wins.
In China and South Pacific, the quiz was held in a sudden-death format; any castaway who answered a question incorrectly was automatically taken out of contention.
History
United States
In Borneo, Sean Kenniff won an all-expenses paid overnight trip on a yacht, which he shared with Richard Hatch. There, Sean met his dad Jim, with whom he got to spend time on the yacht. After returning to camp Jim gave the remaining contestants care packages from their loved ones before leaving on the yacht.
In The Australian Outback, the challenge would be used as the Immunity Challenge in "The Killing Fields". The castaways were tested on their knowledge of the Australian environment. Kucha won the challenge.
In Africa, the challenge was used as a Reward Challenge. The tribes started at the top of bleachers. Every time a tribe answers a question correctly they will move down one row. The first tribe to reach the ground wins. Samburu won the challenge for a buffet.
In Marquesas, each player had a station with three ropes each tied to a bundle of coconuts hanging from trees. A correct answer gives a player the right to cut one of the other players' ropes, causing a bundle of coconuts to fall to the ground. Losing all three bundles means elimination from the game. Sean Rector was the first eliminated, followed by Vecepia Towery and Kathy Vavrick-O'Brien. The challenge ened with Tammy cutting loose Robert's last coconut bundle, giving her individual immunity.
In Thailand, each castaway who answered a question about Thai culture correctly was permitted to snuff another castaway's torch; once all three of a castaway's torches were snuffed, they were out. Helen Glover won immunity, narrowly beating Ted Rogers, Jr..
In The Amazon, each castaway will have a mask attached with three ropes to a suspended log. The castaways will be asked a series of questions about Amazonian and Brazilian culture and survival skills. If a player gets a question right, they will cut one rope from any contestant. Once all three of a castaway's ropes have been cut, the log will smash their mask, eliminating that player. The challenge came down to Heidi Strobel and Jenna Morasca. Jenna answered the final question correctly, winning immunity.
In Pearl Islands, the castaways must answer...
In Vanuatu, each castaway is assigned three skulls. The castaways will answer questions about Vanuatu history and culture. Each time a castaway answers a question correctly, they must set another player's skull on fire. The men were quickly eliminated as the women burned all of their skulls. Leann Slaby won a picnic of chicken wings and champagne, and chose Julie Berry to join her.

Castaway must retrieve sea water with a bucket and throw to a tribemate. The final tribe member must catch the water itself in another bucket, and use it to fill a jar. The tribes must repeat this until they have enough weight in their jar to lower it to the ground, sending a lit flame up to a fire tower, or allowing them to move on to the next section of the challenge.
When used as a Loved Ones Challenge, the castaways may or may not be blindfolded. They must retrieve sea water in a bucket, and then toss it into their loved one's bucket, who will then pour it into a bucket attached to a flag. History
United States
In Vanuatu, the challenge was used as the last tribal reward. One tribe member must race into the ocean to fill a bucket with water. Then they must bring it back and toss it to a tribemate. The bucket must be tossed twice more, and the final tribe member must catch the water itself in another bucket, and use it to fill a jar. The tribes must repeat this until they have enough weight in their jar to lower it to the ground, sending a lit flame up to a fire tower. First tribe to light their fire wins reward. Both tribes had trouble getting the water into their final castaway's bucket. However, Chris Daugherty managed to catch water more easily by getting low to the ground, allowing Lopevi to take the lead and win reward.
In Cook Islands, blindfolded players will retrieve seawater in a bucket and throw the water to their guiding loved one, who pours it into a barrel, which will eventually lower and raise a flag. The first castaway to raise their flag wins. Parvati Shallow won the challenge despite her injured finger.
In Heroes vs. Villains, the version of the challenge used was the same as Cook Islands, but the contestants were not blindfolded. Tempers flared between Colby Donaldson and his brother when they had trouble. Jerri Manthey won the challenge and chose Parvati Shallow, Sandra Diaz-Twine, and their relatives to join her and her sister in reward.
In Cagayan, one player retrieve water with a bucket and toss to other players until another bucket in a teeter-totter. Once that bucket is full, it will release a ball. Two players would put the ball in the center of a spinning vertical maze, and use two ropes to spin the maze until the ball is out of it. First two tribes to finish, wins immunity and reward. Aparri held the lead for most of the challenge and eventually emerged victorious. Luzon recovered from an early blunder to defeat Solana in the puzzle portion of the challenge, and clinched their only immunity win.
When the challenge reappeared in Edge of Extinction, castaways were once again competing with their loved ones, with the challenge being identical to its Heroes vs. Villains counterpart. Ultimately, Ron Clark and his husband won the challenge, earning themselves a picnic back at camp. Ron chose to take Gavin Whitson and Julie Rosenberg, along with their loved ones, with him on the reward.

Return of the Outcasts
Rules
Each person has three plates with his/her name on them hanging from a tree. Using a slingshot, each castaway must try to break everyone's plates before his or hers are entirely broken. The last person with a plate still hanging at the end wins.
In Vanuatu, the challenge was modified for tribal use. Taking turns, each tribe member will take a shot at a ceramic tile grid. On the ground lies twenty wooden squares on a 4-by-5 gameboard, each of which will be turned over when its corresponding ceramic tile is broken. Once all four squares in a column are turned over, the tribe member assigned that column will move to a finish mat and exit the challenge. The first tribe to break all twenty tiles wins.
History
United States
In The Australian Outback, Amber Brkich was first out, followed by Keith Famie, Tina Wesson, and Rodger Bingham, all taken out by Colby Donaldson. Colby knocked two of Elisabeth Filarski's plates out to win immunity.
In Africa, the challenge consisted of eighteen clay pots in a line. Each player's name is printed...
In Marquesas, each player has an hourglass structure filled with sand. A tiki is placed at the base of each structure. Each player takes turns firing small rocks with a slingshot at another player's structure hoping to break one of nine tiles on it. Breaking a tile releases sand that falls over a player's tiki. Once a player's tiki is completely covered, they are out of the game. Players rotate one space over after each round. The last...
In Pearl Islands, the challenge was done in three heats. Each castaway would use a slingshot to fire marbles at targets. Whenever a target is hit, it will ignite a flame that would climb to the next target. The targets must be hit in the correct order, otherwise, if castaway hits the target that is not in the right order, he/she will be out of the challenge. The first person from each heat to hit their three targets in ascending order would move on to the final round. The first person in the final round to hit their three targets wins reward. After winning the last heat against Ryan Opray and Lillian Morris, Rupert Boneham won reward, but opted to give it to Burton Roberts, who shared with Lillian.
In Vanuatu, the challenge was modified for use as a tribal Immunity Challenge. Facing certain elimination as the last man on Yasur, Rory Freeman gave his tribe a consistent lead against the rival Lopevi tribe to success, winning immunity.
In Panama, the challenge was used as the second half of the final six Reward Challenge. After Courtney Marit, Danielle DiLorenzo, and Terry Deitz won the team phase of the challenge, they each used a slingshot to break hanging tiles. Terry was the first to break all his tiles, thus winning the reward: a brand new car.
Australia
France
South Africa
In Santa Carolina, the contestants had to sift through sand to search for their slingshot and marbles before attempting to break three plates. Many of the contestants managed to break two plates, but it was Kaseran Pillay that broke his third plate first to win his second consecutive individual Immunity Challenge.

Final Words
JOHN K.
“ Well, I came, I played, I lost and I'm a little bitter. I'd love to say I walk out of here with no regrets, but, uh, I have to say I'm shocked because I really wouldn't have turned on any of you guys, but you guys turned on me. Um, Chris, best of luck. I hope you win. Sarge, I hope you come in second. Everybody else, hope you lose. (chuckles) ”

Production
The 44th season was filmed in the same production cycle as Survivor 43, with the same COVID-19-related modified protocols.
The season was accompanied by an official Survivor podcast, On Fire with Jeff Probst, which provided behind-the-scenes insights and discussion regarding each week's episode.[3] On the podcast, Jeff confirmed that, even with the relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions, future seasons will continue to play as 26-day games, with the exception of "special" seasons that will revert to the 39-day format.[4]
Twists/Changes
Shortened Game: The game only lasted for 26 days, 13 days shorter than the standard 39.
Tribe Division: The 18 castaways were divided into 3 tribes of 6. No unifying theme was used in dividing the tribes.
Penalties for Losing Immunity Challenges: The tribe that lost an Immunity Challenge was forced to surrender their flint to Jeff and could only win it back if they won the next Immunity Challenge.
Shot in the Dark: By sacrificing one's vote at Tribal Council, a player in trouble could choose to invoke this advantage for a one-in-six chance to be immune from the vote. If successful, the play acted as if a Hidden Immunity Idol was played.
Hidden Immunity Idol: Each tribe has a locked birdcage containing a bag. Hidden somewhere at their camp is a key that unlocks the birdcage and thus the Hidden Immunity Idol inside the bag. The bag also contains a tribe-colored trinket which has no power and whose utility is left to whomever opens the cage to decide. The appearance of the Hidden Immunity Idols is different for each tribe—a bracelet for Ratu, a medallion for Soka, and a coin for Tika—and each tribe's real idol matches the appearance of another tribe's powerless trinket—Ratu's medallion, Soka's coin, and Tika's bracelet.
Summit: Castaways from different tribes were taken to another island. Separately and in private, each castaway would draw from a bag containing three packages: two will cause them to lose their vote at their next Tribal Council, while one contains an advantage. If the castaway draws the advantage, their task is complete. If they find that they have lost their vote, they may choose to draw one of the two remaining packages. They may either receive an advantage, or find that they have lost their vote for the next two Tribal Councils that they attend.
Bank Your Vote Advantage: The advantage holder is allowed to keep a blank parchment at any Tribal Council instead of casting a vote, allowing them to vote twice at a future Tribal Council.
Inheritance Advantage: This advantage allows its holder to pocket all advantages and Hidden Immunity Idols that are played at any Tribal Council up until the final seven. Its holder must play the advantage when casting their vote.
Temporary Hidden Immunity Idols: On Day 8, the three castaways who went on the summit each received an idol that would expire when the individual phase of the game began. The castaways did not have to risk their vote to receive the idol.
Tribe Switch: Also on Day 8, the three castaways who went on the summit were instructed to drop their buffs and pick a new buff at random to switch tribes.
Earn the Merge: The final 12 players were divided into 2 teams of 6 by random draw. The teams competed in an Immunity Challenge where the members of the winning team won individual immunity, a spot on the merge tribe, and the merge feast.
Post-merge Team Immunity Challenge: In the first round as a merged tribe, the group split into two teams. The winning group would be immune from Tribal Council under the rules of tribal immunity, but would observe Tribal Council from the jury bench.
Control a Vote Advantage: The winning team was given the chance to search for an advantage that would allow them to control one vote of any of the losing team members at Tribal Council. The advantage holder will announce their intent to play the advantage at Tribal Council, publicly stating both the target and the person whom the target will vote for; the target must vote as the holder dictates. As clarified at Tribal Council, this advantage affects only a single vote, so a...

Rules
Throughout the numerous variations of this challenge, the primary goal involves moving an object (a tiki segment in Vanuatu, puzzle pieces in Heroes vs. Villains, or buoys) through a rope and across a series of obstacles to a finish. At the end, each team or each individual castaway may have to perform a secondary task (e.g. a puzzle or landing buoys in a hoop) to complete the challenge.
History
United States
The challenge debuted as a tribal Immunity Challenge in Vanuatu. From a platform in the water, each tribe member must transport a tiki segment to the shore, navigating the segments over and under a series of above- and below-water obstacles. Once on shore, the first tribe to reassemble their tiki correctly wins immunity. Ami Cusack and Chris Daugherty collapsed on the beach after completing their part. Rory Freeman gave Yasur a lead, however Leann Slaby had trouble underwater, allowing Lopevi to win immunity.
In Heroes vs. Villains, the Heroes dominated the challenge and won immunity. During the challenge, Colby Donaldson notably instructed Russell Hantz to claim the Heroes' Hidden Immunity Idol from J.T. Thomas after the challenge. During the victory celebrations, J.T. handed the idol to Russell.
In Philippines, the castaways raced to push a buoy along a rope in three rounds. The first round consisted of an obstacle on the beach. The second round involved pushing the buoy along a rope wrapped around a balance beam on the beach. The final round involved obstacles in the water including a boat and a platform and was contested by Carter Williams, Denise Stapley, and Michael Skupin. Carter, won the challenge in a very close finish over Michael, who got stuck at the final knot in his rope.
In Blood vs. Water, the castaways dove into the water and ride along a buoy. After making it back to shore, the castaways solved a puzzle of an eight-word Survivor phrase ("You are going to have to dig deep"). Ciera Eastin came from dead last during the swimming stage to solve the puzzle first, earning her individual immunity.
The challenge re-appeared as the second Immunity Challenge in Worlds Apart. Each castaway had to navigate a buoy from the starting platform, through a series of obstacles, to the finishing platform. Once they had reached the finishing platform the next tribe member could start. Once all five buoys reached the final platform the contestants had to shoot the buoys into a basket. The first two tribes to get five buoys in their tribe's basket would win immunity. Although the Nagarote tribe started off with an early lead, they were slowed down by Will Sims II's struggle to guide the buoy through an obstacle, which opened the doors for the Masaya and Escameca tribes to come back from behind and finish in first and second places respectively.
The challenge appeared in a modified format as the final five Immunity Challenge in Millennials vs. Gen X. Castaways moved a buoy through obstacles in the water. Upon reaching shore, they transported puzzle pieces across a teeter totter and then used the pieces to solve a word puzzle; first to do so won immunity. Ken McNickle won this challenge.
In Survivor 42, the challenge appeared as a team Reward Challenge under the Basket Case format that debuted in Worlds Apart. The blue team comprising Chanelle Howell, Jonathan Young, Mike Turner, Rocksroy...
