TLOC Episode 42 Intro to Meditation
Jesse guides a meditation geared for beginners, and explains some techniques that can help calm and quiet your mind.
Meditation is a practice in which an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state. Meditation is practiced in numerous religious traditions.
The earliest records of meditation (dhyana) are found in the Upanishads, and meditation plays a salient role in the contemplative repertoire of Jainism, Buddhism and Hinduism. Since the 19th century, Asian meditative techniques have spread to other cultures where they have also found application in non-spiritual contexts, such as business and health.
Meditation may significantly reduce stress, anxiety, depression, and pain, and enhance peace, perception, self-concept, and well-being. Research is ongoing to better understand the effects of meditation on health (psychological, neurological, and cardiovascular) and other areas.

Brians Bio From Blahrblahrblahr.com
I am a multi discipline artist. I started drawing with crayons on my bedroom wall as a small boy and never looked back. I became addicted to the thrill of shaping color and texture and that addiction never stopped growing.
I spent most of my adult life as an advertising creative director and went on to direct commercials and film. The best part of that time were the amazing professionals I got to hire and work with. I harassed each and every one of them for techniques and inspiration. Illustrators, photographers, amazing designers and film directors. I soaked up the creative juice like a sponge. It all blended together in this creative gumbo that became my personal point of view.
I always had a passion for painting... something about pushing pigment around on a blank canvas always tickled me. Later, I got into photography really deep and I tried to bring a painters eye to all my images.
For a number of years, I’ve been intrigued with light painting. There are so many talented artists making beautiful inspiring imagery. This last year I decided to get serious and give it a go myself. To say I got hooked would be a massive understatement. Light painting combines all the techniques I’ve come to love in one unique and satisfying package. I’m still pushing color around, but now it’s not pigment... it’s LIGHT!!!!! Woooo Hoooo! I just keep asking myself, “why’d you wait so long?!!!!”
As I learn and practice the enjoyment just keeps blooming in a myriad of surprising ways. I hope that never stops.

TLOC Episode 40 BOWEN BRAMWELL
In Bowen's own words from www.illustrationbybo.com
I am a professional artist and illustrator based out of Phoenix, AZ working in pen and ink, watercolor, woodburning, and digital mediums. I have been honing in on my craft since I was twelve years old. At the age of fifteen I knew it was my calling, but finding myself as a man and as an artist did not come without effort.
At the age of 19, I decided to follow the path of my ancestors and serve a Mormon mission. I learned many wonderful lessons during those two years, however, I felt incredibly disconnected from my true self. I came home in a crippling depression and was bed-ridden for 6 months, unable to function, ignoring my issues, and I dove into drug addiction. Fast forward a few years and a few nervous breakdowns and I found himself in a park at 2am with a knife in my hand. I had given up completely. In the middle of a suicide attempt, I made the decision to live.
Having been homeless, I had exhausted my options and had nowhere to go. A homeless shelter called Phoenix Rescue Mission took me in for 9 months. There, I learned to love others and myself, to accept and face his darkness, and left there a new, spiritually reborn man. I now have a deep love and compassion for the broken and downtrodden of the world and seek to reach those in darkness through my art so that others may come into their own light, find their purpose, and heal as I did.
I am deeply inspired by artists, such as, Van Gogh, Albrecht Dürer, Salvador Dalí, and M.C. Escher.
Having studied many esoteric and spiritual paths, I seek to unify all walks of life through my art. I specialize in telling “Soul Stories”, using subconscious symbolism to tell the storIes of my client’s lives. This idea was gifted to me, by the universe, at the age of 21.
Having created Soul Stories for clients such as Travis Pastrana, Lil Xan, and Julius Dein, I am finally living my dream of creating meaning through art as a full-time occupation.
