Enlightenment is like the moon reflected on the water.
The moon does not get wet, nor is the water broken.
Although its light is wide and great,
The moon is reflected even in a puddle an inch wide.
The whole moon and the entire sky
Are reflected in one dewdrop on the grass.
– Dogen
---
Dogen, also known as Dogen Zenji or Eihei Dogen, was a Japanese Buddhist monk and philosopher who lived from 1200 to 1253. He is best known as the founder of the Soto school of Zen Buddhism in Japan, which emphasizes the practice of zazen, or seated meditation, as the primary means of attaining enlightenment.
Dogen was born into a noble family in Kyoto, Japan, and showed an early interest in Buddhism. He studied Tendai Buddhism, a sect of Buddhism prevalent in Japan at the time, and later traveled to China to study Ch'an (Zen) Buddhism, which had a significant influence on his thinking. Upon returning to Japan, Dogen started teaching and writing extensively, spreading his unique interpretation of Zen Buddhism.
Dogen's teachings emphasized the importance of direct experience of reality through meditation, rather than relying on scripture or intellectual understanding alone. He emphasized the concept of "just sitting" or "just being" in zazen, in which one simply sits and allows thoughts and sensations to arise without judgment or attachment. Dogen also emphasized the integration of meditation practice into everyday life, seeing enlightenment as something that is realized in every moment of ordinary life.
Dogen's most famous work is the Shobogenzo, a collection of essays and discourses on Zen practice and philosophy. It is considered one of the most important works of Japanese literature and has had a profound impact on Zen practitioners throughout the centuries. Dogen's teachings continue to inspire and influence Zen practitioners and others interested in Buddhism and meditation to this day.

I taste a liquor never brewed,
From tankards scooped in pearl;
Not all the vats upon the Rhine
Yield such an alcohol!
Inebriate of air am I,
And debauchee of dew,
Reeling, through endless summer days,
From inns of molten blue.
When landlords turn the drunken bee
Out of the foxglove’s door,
When butterflies renounce their drams,
I shall but drink the more!
Till seraphs swing their snowy hats,
And saints to windows run,
To see the little tippler
Leaning against the sun!
~ Emily Dickinson
---
Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) was an American poet known for her enigmatic and deeply introspective poetry. Born in Amherst, Massachusetts, Dickinson lived a reclusive life, rarely leaving her home and choosing to communicate with the outside world mainly through her letters and poetry. She lived during a time of great societal and religious change, and her views on spirituality were shaped by her Puritan upbringing, her experiences, and her unique perspectives on life.
Dickinson's spirituality was complex and unconventional. She questioned traditional religious beliefs and rejected the dogmas of the organized church. Instead, she sought to understand the divine through her own personal experiences and observations of nature. Her poetry often reflects a deep sense of wonder and awe towards the natural world, which she saw as a manifestation of the divine. She saw God's presence in the smallest details of nature, from a buzzing bee to a blooming flower, and her poetry often celebrates the beauty and mystery of the natural world as a source of spiritual inspiration.
At the same time, Dickinson grappled with existential questions and the concept of mortality. She often wrote about the fleeting nature of life, the passage of time, and the inevitability of death. Despite her unconventional views on religion, Dickinson's poetry often reflects a sense of longing for a connection with the divine and a desire for spiritual transcendence. She explored themes of faith, doubt, and the search for meaning in a complex and ever-changing world.
Although Dickinson's poetry was largely unrecognized during her lifetime, she is now considered one of the most important American poets. Her unique perspective on spirituality, her bold exploration of existential questions, and her innovative poetic style continue to captivate readers and inspire scholars and poets alike. Emily Dickinson's legacy as a visionary poet continues to thrive, and her contributions to American literature and spirituality are celebrated to this day.

Mental Health Is Not Enough: Why We Need to Focus on Spiritual Health
Are you feeling anxious, stressed or depressed? Do you want to improve your mental health?
If so, this video is for you.
Mental health is a buzzword that is used everywhere today, and for good reason. According to the World Health Organization, 1 in 4 people globally will experience mental health issues at some point in their lives. And the COVID-19 pandemic has only made things worse.
While there are numerous resources available for those struggling with mental health issues, they don't address the bigger problem of poor spiritual health.
In this video, you'll learn about the importance of spiritual health and why it's just as essential as mental health in today's fast-paced, modern society.
A lot of the daily issues we experience, such as anxiety, stress or depression can be traced back to a deeper spiritual problem. This problem stems from not knowing who we truly are, not knowing our purpose in life, and not having a deep and powerful connection with God.
In order to have to great spiritual health, we must take care of our soul, which is a fundamental aspect of our being. The soul is not just a religious or spiritual concept but the essence of who we are—the part that connects us to something greater than ourselves.
It's not enough to focus solely on mental health if we want to truly heal our soul, which requires a deeper level of attention and care that goes beyond traditional mental health practices.
So, if you're interested in exploring this issue further and finding a cure for your mind (and perhaps more importantly, your soul), then hit play and stick around until the end of the video.
Sending peace and love to all!

O love,
O heart,
Find the way to heaven.
Set your sights on a place
Higher than your eyes can see.
For it was the higher aim
That brought you here
In the first place.
Now be silent.
Let the One who creates the words speak.
He made the door.
He made the lock.
He also made the key.
How many men have found tragic ends
Running after beauty?
Why don't they look for you? -
The heart and spirit of all beauty.
~ Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi
From "The Essential Rumi" by Coleman Barks
Original Farsi version from the Divan-e Shams-e Tabrizi
--
Jalāl ad-Dīn Mohammad Rumi (1207 — 1273), also known as Jalāl ad-Dīn Mohammad Balkhī, Mowlānā, or more simply and popularly as Rumi, was a 13th-century Persian poet, scholar, philosopher, and Sufi mystic.
In 1244, Rumi met the wandering dervish and mystic Shams-e Tabrizi in Damascus, who transformed Rumi from an accomplished teacher, scholar and jurist to a humble ascetic. Shams (Farsi: the "Sun") saw Rumi's pride in having immense religious knowledge and fame, and threw Rumi's books on the ground, signifying that he knew nothing.
Under Shams' spiritual guidance, Rumi became introduced to divine love, music, poetry, and dance through the mystic Sufi practice of Sama. The two formed an inseparable bond, which is believed to have isolated Rumi from his students and family members, some of whom are said to have grown jealous of Rumi's companion. Two years after they met, Shams abruptly left Konya.
When Shams returned, however, he disappeared shortly after, with several sources suggesting that he was murdered at the order of Rumi's son Ala-eddin. His death sent Rumi reeling into depression, and to express and cope with his bereavement, Rumi began writing hundreds of lyric poems, which altogether formed The Divan of Shams-e Tabrizi (or Book of Shams of Tabriz).
He continued to write many poems, until one of his companions, Husaam al-Din Chalabi, inspired him to produce an even greater masterpiece. One day Husaam explained to Rumi how great it would be if Rumi composed an epic mystic poem, similar to Sanai's "The Walled Garden of Truth" or Attar's "The Conference of the Birds," which Rumi's followers regularly read. Rumi is said to have smiled, took out a piece of paper, and wrote these famous two lines:
بشنو از نی چون حکایت می کند
از جدایی ها شکایت می کند
Listen to the ney, how it tells this sad tale,
Lamenting separations (from the One beyond scale)
Husaam begged Rumi to write more, and the mystic dedicated the final12 years of his life to composing the rest of the epic poem, which eventually made up his greatest work: the Masnavi-e Ma'navi (or "The Spiritual Couplets"). In December of 1273, he fell ill and passed away days later on December 17. Many refer to the day of his passing as Shab-e Aroos (or "Wedding Night") to signify that the mystic has finally united with his Beloved.

Slowly, but surely,
the Light
appears,
Washing away old wounds,
tearing down the dusty curtains,
behind which
a dear friend once lived,
illuminating every dark corner
of my heart,
til all I see is light.
All I am is light.

Your Children: Khalil Gibran's Spiritual Wisdom on Parenthood
In this video, we take a deep dive into one of Khalil Gibran's most iconic poems, "Your Children." Gibran was a Lebanese-American writer and artist, known for his philosophical and spiritual insights. "Your Children" is a powerful ode to parenthood, and explores the complex relationship between parents and their children.
We start by reciting the poem in its entirety, allowing the beauty and wisdom of Gibran's words to wash over us. Then, we begin our analysis, unpacking each stanza and delving into the themes that emerge.
One of the key messages of "Your Children" is the importance of love in parenting. Gibran reminds us that children are not possessions, but rather gifts that we are entrusted with for a time. We must love them deeply and unconditionally, even as we recognize that they are ultimately individuals with their own paths to follow.
Another theme that emerges is the idea of freedom. Gibran reminds us that children are not ours to control, but rather independent beings who must be given space to grow and discover their own truths. As parents, we must strive to provide guidance and support, without stifling our children's individuality.
Overall, "Your Children" is a timeless masterpiece that offers profound insights into the joys and challenges of parenthood. Join us on this reflective journey as we explore the spiritual wisdom of this beloved poem.
Thank you for watching and please don't hesitate to drop a like or comment if you enjoyed the video.
Sending peace and love to all!

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you.
And though they are with you, they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
Which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite.
And He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hands be for happiness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
So He loves the bow that is stable.
~ Khalil Gibran
---
Khalil Gibran was a Lebanese-American artist, poet, and writer born in Bsharri, Lebanon, in 1883. Gibran's early life was marked by poverty and loss; his father was a financially struggling cobbler, and his mother died of tuberculosis when he was only seven years old. Despite these challenges, Gibran's passion for writing and art flourished.
In 1895, Gibran and his family immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts, where he enrolled in school and later attended the Academie Julian in Paris, France. Throughout his life, Gibran produced an extensive body of work, including paintings, drawings, and writings. He is perhaps best known for his book "The Prophet," a collection of philosophical essays and poetic musings on love, spirituality, and the human condition.
In addition to his literary work, Gibran was also a talented artist, and his drawings and paintings were exhibited in galleries throughout the United States and Europe. His art was heavily influenced by his love of nature, and he often used his work to explore spiritual and metaphysical themes.
Gibran's life was cut short in 1931 when he died of cirrhosis of the liver at the age of 48. Despite his relatively short life, Gibran's legacy has endured, and his work continues to inspire readers and artists around the world. His ability to blend spirituality and philosophy with beautiful prose and poetry has earned him a place in the literary canon and a lasting place in the hearts of his readers.

Both this world and the next
are adrift within the soul.
The body hidden in the soul,
the soul secreted in the body
-- each is lost inside the other.
Emerge from your confusion,
find the inner seat of your humanity.
There, a single breath will fill you
with the answer to a hundred mysteries.
But if you waver in the Path,
lamentation will swallow you from head to toe.
Keep vigil at night and fast during the day,
until yearning for knowledge
surfaces within you.
Yearn and seek until everything,
even the yearning itself, evaporates.
~ Attar of Nishapur
---
Attar, also known as Fariduddin Attar, was a prominent Persian poet, mystic, and scholar who lived in the 12th century. He was born in Nishapur, Iran, around 1145 CE and lived during the Seljuk Empire's reign. Attar was a pharmacist by profession, but he devoted himself to poetry and spiritual pursuits.
Attar is famous for his works in Persian literature, including his masterpiece, The Conference of the Birds. This book is considered a classic of Sufi literature, and it tells the story of a group of birds who journey to find their king, the Simurgh. The story is an allegory for the Sufi path, and it teaches readers about the challenges and joys of spiritual transformation.
In addition to The Conference of the Birds, Attar wrote many other works, including Asrar Nama ("The Book of Secrets"). His works are characterized by their mystical and allegorical nature, and they often explore themes of love, faith, and spirituality.
Attar's influence on Persian literature and Sufi thought is significant. He inspired many other poets and writers, including the famous Persian poet Rumi, who considered Attar his spiritual master. Attar's legacy continues to inspire people all over the world, and his works are still read and studied by scholars and enthusiasts of Persian literature and Sufism.

The Art of Dying Daily: Transcend Your Ego and Experience Awakening
Welcome to this spiritual teaching on the art of dying daily.
In this video, we explore the fear and uncertainty surrounding death and how it is not the end, but rather the beginning of a new and higher state of being.
We can cultivate this perspective by embracing a practice I like to call "the art of dying daily," which involves waking up each day with the mindset that you will only live for that day.
By practicing detachment, mindfulness, surrender and acceptance, you can transcend your ego and experience awakening.
This deep and inspirational video reminds us to live life to the fullest and to embrace and cherish death as a wonderful guide on our spiritual journey.
I hope you enjoy it and find value in this teaching. If so, please drop a like and consider subscribing to the channel. Your support really does matter.
Sending peace and love to all.

Do not go to the garden of flowers!
O Friend! go not there;
In your body is the garden of flowers.
Take your seat on the thousand petals of the lotus,
and there gaze on the Infinite Beauty.

Kabir Das (1398–1518) was a renowned poet, mystic, and saint who lived in northern India during the 15th century. He was born into a Muslim family, but his poetry transcends religious boundaries and is revered by Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs alike. Kabir's poetry is known for its simple yet powerful language and its emphasis on the unity of all things.
Very little is known about Kabir's life, as he left no written record of his own teachings or experiences. However, it is believed that he was raised in a weaver family and received little formal education. Despite this, his poetry has had a profound impact on Indian spirituality and culture.
Kabir's teachings emphasized the importance of spiritual practice and direct experience of the divine, rather than relying on external religious rituals or dogma. He believed that the ultimate reality was beyond all concepts and dualities, and that the true nature of the divine could only be known through direct experience.
Kabir's poetry is filled with images and metaphors drawn from everyday life, such as weaving, farming, and cooking, which he used to illustrate profound spiritual truths.
Today, Kabir is widely recognized as one of India's greatest poets and spiritual teachers. His poetry continues to be read, recited, and sung by people of all backgrounds and faiths, and his message of unity and love continues to inspire seekers around the world.

When I Was the Forest – Spiritual Poetry by Mystic Meister Eckhart
When most people hear the name "Eckhart," they generally think of the contemporary spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle.
But more than seven centuries before Eckhart Tolle came to prominence, there lived another Eckhart, whose soul continues to inspire other souls on the awakening journey: Meister Eckhart.
This video delves into one of the mystic's best poems, When I Was the Forest, which is a great contribution to the world by Christian mysticism.
I realize this video is quite long, but if you have the time and interest to watch all of it, I am confident you will learn something meaningful from this incredibly deep poem.
Thank you for watching and please don't hesitate to drop a like or comment if you enjoyed the video.
Sending peace and love to all!

When I was the stream, when I was the
forest, when I was still the field
when I was every hoof, foot,
fin and wing, when I
was the sky itself,
no one ever asked me did I have a purpose, no one ever
wondered was there anything I might need,
for there was nothing
I could not love.
It was when I left all we once were that
the agony began, the fear and questions came,
and I wept, I wept. And tears
I had never known before.
So I returned to the river, I returned to
the mountains. I asked for their hand in marriage again,
I begged—I begged to wed every object and creature,
and when they accepted,
God was ever present in my arms.
And He did not say,
“Where have you
been?”
For then I knew my soul—every soul—
has always held
Him.

In the Arms of the Beloved – A Rumi Poem on Reuniting with God
There is no greater feeling in the world than reuniting with God.
But why wait until you die to achieve this union? Why not achieve it now, while you are alive?
In the Arms of the Beloved is a beautiful Rumi poem on doing exactly that, with the seeker's heart yearning to leave behind the world of form for the world of soul.
The spiritual journey one must take to achieve this union is long and hard. But if you are patient and committed enough, you will experience incredible spiritual growth and move closer to God.
If you are looking to enhance your spirituality and develop a real and true connection with God, listen to this Rumi poem and interpretation. Make it a part of your spiritual practice, and keep traveling inward to find the key needed to soar above this world.
Please don't hesitate to reach out with any comments or questions, or if I can be of assistance in any way.
Hope you enjoy, and sending peace and love to all!

At last you vanished,
gone to the Unseen.
Strange the path you took
out of this world.
Beating your wings and feathers,
you demolished this cage.
Rising up to the sky
you attained the world of the soul.
Then you heard the drummer’s call
and flew beyond space and time.
This phantom world gave you false signs
But you turned from the illusion
and journeyed to the land of truth.
You are now the Sun -
what need have you for a crown?
I’ve heard that you can barely see your soul.
But why look at all? –
yours is now the Soul of Souls!
O heart, what a rare bird you are.
In your yearning for divine heights,
You flapped your wings and smashed into the spear like a shield
The rose flees autumn, but not you –
You are the fearless rose
that grows amidst the freezing wind.
You were rain from another world
that fell on this dusty earth.
You ran in all directions
and escaped down into the roots
Be silent.
Now the words are over
and the pain they bring is gone.
Now you have gone to rest
in the arms of the Beloved.

When Rumi was a young child, the Mongols invaded Central Asia, forcing Rumi's family to escape westwards via caravan to avoid persecution and death. When Rumi turned 25, his father passed away and he felt a deep void in his spirituality. He followed his father's footsteps and took over the role of the Islamic molvi, or Muslim doctor of law. For roughly nine years, Rumi practiced Sufism under one of Baha ud-Din's disciples, Burhan ud-Din, who helped prepare him for an even greater spiritual encounter down the road. But it wasn't until November 15, 1244, that Rumi's life turned upside down.
On this day, Rumi met the wandering dervish and mystic Shams-e Tabrizi in Damascus, who transformed Rumi from an accomplished teacher, scholar and jurist to a humble ascetic.
He continued to write many poems, until one of his companions, Husaam al-Din Chalabi, inspired him to produce an even greater masterpiece, which eventually became his Masnavi-e Ma'navi (or "The Spiritual Couplets") that he worked on for the remainder of hsi life. In December of 1273, Rumi fell ill and passed away days later on December 17. Many refer to the day of his passing as Shab-e Aroos (or "Wedding Night") to signify that the mystic has finally united with his Beloved.

Samadhi – Spiritual Wisdom from Paramahansa Yogananda
Paramahansa Yogananda is considered to be one of the greatest spiritual teachers of the 20th century. Although he is known for his Autobiography of a Yogi, his less-known but deep spiritual poetry also provides immense wisdom.
Samadhi is a beautiful poem by Yogananda that describes the awakened state the yogi and mystic was in, especially during meditation. I have reproduced large amounts of the original poem, providing a modern interpretation of the spiritual teachings contained within.
I hope you enjoy this video and find value in its precious words.
Please don't hesitate to reach out with any comments or questions, or if I can be of assistance in any way.

Vanished are the veils of light and shade,
Lifted the vapors of sorrow,
Sailed away the dawn of fleeting joy,
Gone the mirage of the senses.
Love, hate, health, disease, life and death –
Departed, these false shadows on the screen
of duality.
Waves of laughter, scyllas of sarcasm, whirlpools
of melancholy,
Melting in the vast sea of bliss.
Bestilled is the storm of maya
By the magic wand of intuition deep.
The universe, a forgotten dream, lurks
subconsciously,
Ready to invade my newly wakened memory divine.
I exist without the cosmic shadow,
But it could not live bereft of me;
As the sea exists without the waves,
But they breathe not without the sea.
Dreams, wakings, states of deep turiya sleep,
Present, past, future, no more for me,
But the ever-present, all-flowing, I, I everywhere.
Consciously enjoyable,
Beyond the imagination of all expectancy,
Is this, my samadhi state.
Smoldering joy, oft-puffed by unceasing meditation,
Which blinded my tearful eyes,
Burst into eternal flames of bliss,
And consumed my tears, my peace, my frame,
my all.
Thou art I, I am Thou,
Knowing, Knower, Known, as One!
One tranquilled, unbroken thrill of eternal, living, ever-new peace!
Not an unconscious state
Or mental chloroform without wilful return,
Samadhi but extends my realm of consciousness
Beyond the limits of my mortal frame
To the boundaries of eternity,
Where I, the Cosmic Sea,
Watch the little ego floating in Me.
Not a sparrow, nor a grain of sand, falls
without my sight
All space floats like an iceberg in my mental sea.
I am the Colossal Container of all things made!
By deeper, longer, continuous, thirsty,
guru–given meditation,
This celestial samadhi is attained.
From Joy we come,
For Joy we live,
In the sacred Joy we melt.
~ Paramahansa Yogananda

Paramahansa Yogananda (born Mukunda Lal Ghosh; January 5, 1893 – March 7, 1952) was an Indian Hindu monk, yogi and guru who introduced millions to the teachings of meditation and Kriya Yoga. A chief disciple of the Bengali yoga guru Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri, he was sent by his lineage to spread the teachings of yoga to the West, to prove the unity between Eastern and Western religions and to preach a balance between Western material growth and Indian spirituality. His long-standing influence in the American yoga movement, and especially the yoga culture of Los Angeles, led him to be considered by yoga experts as the "Father of Yoga in the West."
He published his book, Autobiography of a Yogi, in 1946, to critical and commercial acclaim; since its first publishing, it has sold over four million copies, with HarperSan Francisco listing it as one of the "100 best spiritual books of the 20th Century". Former Apple CEO Steve Jobs had ordered 500 copies of the book for his own memorial, for each guest to be given a copy. The book has been regularly reprinted and is known as "the book that changed the lives of millions." A documentary about his life commissioned by the SRF, Awake: The Life of Yogananda, was released in 2014. His continued legacy around the world, remaining a leading figure in Western spirituality to the current day, led authors such as Philip Goldberg to consider him "the best known and most beloved of all Indian spiritual teachers who have come to the West....through the strength of his character and his skillful transmission of perennial wisdom, he showed the way for millions to transcend barriers to the liberation of the soul.

This time I must confess,
I feel a total hate for myself.
While crowded and swarmed,
my heart wishes to be a single self.
Seeking that single pearl,
I crave to dive deep into this sea.
But fear of murderous waves
makes me beg for your help, my friends.
Scattered with so much going on inside,
I long for nothing but an inner unity.
Duality must be abandoned
if you seek to drink the soul of unity.
You must bet and lose
everything you’ve ever owned
if you truly desire
to become one with your Beloved.
Listen to the secret sound
of the revelation now
when your quest aspires the skies.
Fly away from this lowly earth.
My heavenly soul,
who only nests in the heights,
is tired of its house on earth.
It wants to abandon the body.
It wants to take the final flight.

So, if you're looking for some inspiration or spiritual wisdom to help you on your life journey, dive into this beautiful Sufi poem and let yourself be carried away.

My fleeting life has come and gone
A wind that blows and passes by.
I feel it has been all too brief,
Just like the blinking of an eye.
To this true word God will attest:
The Spirit is the Body's guest,
Some day it will vacate the breast
As birds, freed from their cages, fly.
Life, my good man, can be likened
To the land that the farmer sows:
Lying scattered all over the soil,
Some of the seeds sprout, but some die.
If you visit and give water
To a sick man who needs care,
With God's wine, he shall hail you there
One day when you soar to the sky.
~ Yunus Emre
---
Yunus Emre (1238-1328) was a 13th century Turkish folk poet and Sufi mystic who greatly influenced Turkish culture, literature, poetry, and philosophy. Some writers and scholars even regard him as the most important poet in Turkish history, as well as a key figure in Sufism. Rather than composing poetry in Persian (or Farsi), which was the region's literary language during that time, he wrote mostly in Turkish, with his poems often dealing with divine love, human destiny, and reuniting with God or one's True Essence.
But aside from being a poet and wandering dervish, Yunus was also a popular preacher and man of the people. He called for social justice, equality, and other humanistic ideals, often coming at odds with those whom he deemed as oppressors of the common people. He believed that loving one's self, or ego—and seeking power, recognition or wealth to enhance that self—creates distance between us and the rest of our community, hardening our hearts and obscuring the divine love we have for God and all of humanity.
Like many Sufis during his time, he believed that one had to annihilate their sense of self to reach God.
There are several interesting comparisons between Yunus Emre and his more famous contemporary Rumi. These comparisons are probably due, in part, to the similarities in their life journey prior to becoming the beloved poets, mystics, and philosophers they are known to be today. Just as Rumi had Shams-e Tabriz, Yunus had Taptuk Emre, who humbled and inspired him to leave worldly pursuits behind in favor of acquiring real spiritual wisdom.
Rumi was known to write his stories, songs, and poems for a well-educated group of urban Sufi mystics, almost exclusively in Persian. However, Yunus Emre was more itinerant, traveling and teaching among the rural poor in the Turkish language of the everyday folk.
Even though he is not as famous today as Rumi, Yunus Emre is still loved in many parts of the world. His poetry still touches the hearts of lovers...even seven centuries later.

Good deeds
And I, a sinner,
We're far apart;
On different plains,
A different way,
the way of the heart!
No common ground:
We drinkers here;
you puritans there!
The sermon and
The song of the lute!
How can the two compare?
It weighs upon my heart,
This lie of living
in fake purity.
Where is the Saqi?
Where the wine?
They're worlds apart!
What will my enemies
Gain by staring at my
Beloved's face so fair?
They are as dying lamps
And she the brightest Sun
beyond compare!
The thought of the Beloved
Drove out the thought
of days gone by.
Where did the vanity go?
Where is the anger gone?
Where is my pride?
Do not expect
From Hafiz
A life of peacefulness,
Repose.
What is patience?
What is peace?
Who knows?
~ Hafiz Shirazi

Khwāje Shams-od-Dīn Moḥammad Ḥāfeẓ-e Shīrāzī (Persian: خواجه شمسالدین محمّد حافظ شیرازی), known by his pen name Hafez (حافظ, Ḥāfeẓ, 'the memorizer; the (safe) keeper'; 1325–1390) and as "Hafiz", was a Persian lyric poet, whose collected works are regarded by many Iranians as a pinnacle of Persian literature.
His works are often found in the homes of people in the Persian-speaking world, who learn his poems by heart and use them as everyday proverbs and sayings. His life and poems have become the subjects of much analysis, commentary and interpretation, influencing post-14th century Persian writing more than any other Persian author.
Hafez is best known for his Divan of Hafez, a collection of his surviving poems probably compiled after his death. Hafez primarily wrote in the literary genre of lyric poetry or ghazals, that is the ideal style for expressing the ecstasy of divine inspiration in the mystical form of love poems. He was a Sufi.
Themes of his ghazals include the Beloved, faith and exposing hypocrisy. His influence on Persian speakers appears in divination by his poems and in the frequent use of his poems in Persian traditional music, visual art and Persian calligraphy. His tomb is located in his birthplace of Shiraz. Adaptations, imitations and translations of his poems exist in all major languages.
