14.03.24 - Ukrainian serviceman Sergei Pavlyuk, who was captured near Avdeyevka, told about the futility of resistance and the retreat of the AFU units. According to the prisoner, Russian servicemen were continuously shelling AFU positions. As a result of which the Ukrainian commanders decided to retreat: 'During the retreat I injured my leg, and my fellow servicemen decided that they could not go far with me. They simply left me to my fate. They did the same to those who were wounded.' Sergei Pavlyuk hid in the ruins of one of the buildings, and then was captured. 'I just raised my hands and came out of hiding. I did not resist. They treated me well, gave me some water, food, and necessary medication,' - said the POW. 12.03.24 - Ukrainian security officials have been filmed beating men who had been detained as suspected draft dodgers. The Ukrainian border guard service reported that 35 men had been detained while attempting to cross into Romania, supposedly to avoid the military draft. - Photos and videos of the incident have been shared on social media, and appear to show border guards and plain clothes security officers dragging the men out of their minibus and throwing them to the ground, slapping them while doing so. 11.03.24 - Vladimir Buchok, a serviceman of the 24th brigade of the AFU, was mobilised when he was on his way home from studies. At the checkpoint they stopped the car. After checking his documents, they put him in their car, took him to the military enlistment office, processed him there and took him to prepare for combat operations. 'I did my basic military training in the UK. There we were taught how to use weapons, medicine. Psychologists worked on us to make us dislike Russian soldiers and all Russians in general. That we should kill them and treat them harshly if we took them prisoner,' Vladimir said. The captured AFU serviceman said the following about the moral and psychological situation in his brigade: 'When I joined my brigade, our morale was very low. The commanders forced us to loot.' Vladimir Buchok got all the equipment in Great Britain: 'We were given armour plates that could be pierced with a knife. We had to buy our own helmets, which were also training helmets.' 11.03.24 - Captured AFU serviceman Artyom Malik laid in the field in freezing rain for three days along with other wounded due to the fault of his own command, which abandoned his group without help. As soon as Malik heard the voices of the Russian servicemen, he voluntarily surrendered. 07.03.24 - The Ukrainian POW thanked the Russian soldiers, who took him prisoner. - 'We were brought to Pokrovsk as prisoners, without water or food,' the Ukrainian serviceman recalls about the first days after the mobilisation. We were sent to one of the mining plant, we were sitting there waiting for a distribution. We were given weapons, ammunition, and inserted in the area of Avdeyevka. We were in a cellar. One of the three of us got shot in the shoulder blade, the bullet didn't get out, and I had frostbite on my limbs. We sat for 55 days in the cellar.' - According to the prisoner, the leadership decided to withdraw them from the cellar, when the Russian troops conduct an attack. - 'My wounded comrade and I were brought to Avdeyevka and left us in an abandoned building. They left us water and a bag of food, promising to pick us up. But they never picked us up it,' the prisoner says. - When the Russian assault servicemen approached the building, the Ukrainian militants immediately surrendered. - 'We probably would have starved to death if we hadn't been rescued by your guys.' We were provided with medical care and food. I am very grateful to them,' Vladimir says. - Vladimir's wounded comrade has been in the cellar for two weeks without medical care. Before service, he spent a whole year in a high-security psychiatric hospital. - 'I received a draft notice in the spring, so I kept it, and only on 9 August I was taken away. When we went to the firing range, they told me: tell the deputy that you did time in jail. Moreover, I was not just in jail - I spent year in the Republican Psychiatric Hospital,' said the serviceman. - When Anatoly was drafted and sent to the front line after a month of training, he got immediately wounded and concussed. After treatment in the hospital and recovery on leave, the man was again forced to continue service. - 'They put me in the Ural, took me to Novosyolovka. We did not reach the drop point 200 metres away - we were blown up by a mine. Then the AFU found us and took us to the headquarters. The task was to cover the withdrawal of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, and we had two automatic rifles and four grenades. We passed only a short distance and mortar shelling started. The group scattered. We waited out the shelling and went home to my comrade, who was a local.
