US Open projected cut The cut line for the 2023 U.S. Open Championship is currently at +2 during Friday's Round 2, after opening the day at +1. Conditions were benign during Thursday's opening round, and the best golfers on the planet took advantage in the lowest scoring U.S. Open first round in event history. With similar weather conditions Friday, the USGA adjusted their strategy with faster greens and more difficult pin positions at the LACC. The top 60 golfers (and ties) will survive to play the weekend, and as of 5:30 PM ET there are 83 competitors at +2 or better. Some notable names who will have some work to do (or get some help) in order to make the weekend include Phil Mickelson (+3), Jordan Spieth (+3), Justin Rose (+6), and Justin Thomas (+7). Prior to the 2023 event, most sportsbooks set the cut line Over/Under at 143.5 (+3.5): Line
Odds Under 143.5 strokes
-135 Over 143.5 strokes
+105 US Open odds to make the cut
Even the big names can miss the cut at a major like the U.S. Open. Betting on the cut line
Betting on the cut line is a very U.S. Open prop. Sportsbooks with U.S. Open odds set a projected cut line score heading into the event and you can bet on whether the final cut line will be Over or Under that projected score.
For example, the cut line for the 2020 U.S. Open was 146 (+6). Oddsmakers posted an Over/Under projected cut line of 145.5, which means if you thought the cut line would be 145 or lower you would bet the Under and if you thought it would be 146 or higher then you would bet the Over.
