Woodturning - The Lost Limb

Piece of oak from a recent crown lift, at some point a long time ago this would have been a new bough growing and was snapped off. I knew it would be off balance but it wasn't until I started to hollow it out I could see most of the inside had rotten away, which would explain why it was so off balance.

It had been in the drier for a few weeks and had stopped loosing weight, but the inside was still like a sponge and extremely difficult to get a decent cut on, so the inside was drilled to give an edge to cut from.

Sanded to 800 and finished with Danish Oil only, didn't think a high gloss finish would do it any justice
