Obamas Accused of Hypocrisy on Climate Change for Buying Waterfront Property in Martha's Vineyard

After the news broke that former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama are buying a $15M waterfront estate in Martha’s Vineyard, some took to social media to accuse the Obamas of hypocrisy on climate change.

"If I genuinely believed in 12 years coastal areas would be under water, I wouldn’t buy a $15 million mansion on...Martha’s Vineyard. Call me crazy, but it doesn’t seem like Obama is taking climate change all that seriously,"

Others made a similar point in reaction to the news of the Obamas purchase, which has reportedly not been finalized yet.

"If climate change is as bad as Obama said it was, why is he buying property on or near the beach?" wrote Twitter user @Huffman_Hippy.

"How about Obama pushing climate change legislation then buying a coastal mansion at Martha's vineyard?" wrote Twitter user @Mikel1618.

Twitter user @Chris_Roy wrote that the Obamas $15 million investment in a waterfront property "seems odd for a climate change alarmist believing in sea level rise and the destruction of coastal regions.Hmmm 🤔. Obviously not thinking of what he will leave his children."

Why don't the Obamas believe in science?

As some have noted, the Obama picked up a $14,850,000 seaside mansion on Martha's Vineyard, despite the inevitable doom of climate change, global warming, global cooling, a climate emergency or whatever we're calling it this week.

Renting the place is one thing. Shelling out almost $15 million bucks is an investment.

A prime thesis of lefties (including Bernie Sanders' Green New Deal announcement) is that vulnerability to "climate change" is a financial risk. Companies that fail to act appropriately might be targeted by the SEC. And here are the Obamas moving into a very vulnerable location.

Casa Du Hope and Change is located directly on the Edgartown Great Pond. The 29 acre estate has a view of the Atlantic Ocean.

That's because the Edgartown Great Pond is separated only by a thin strip of "barrier beach" from the Atlantic Ocean.

A sea level rise here would wipe out the Obama estate.
