What is the difference between knowledge and wisdom? Knowledge is what we know; it has to do with our intellect. Wisdom, on the other hand, is how we put it all together, whether from our knowledge, words, or even actions; wisdom is how you navigate life. In today's readings, we will explore how wisdom separates itself from some examples we will read about in today's passages. That is, we must follow the way of sound wisdom and maintain ourselves on that narrow path because that path leads to life.

James 1:5

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Wisdom/Reading Proverbs 2:12-22
Wisdom's Importance in Daily Life
Jared explored the topic of knowledge and wisdom, emphasizing that wisdom involves applying knowledge in daily life. He stressed the importance of following the way of sound wisdom and staying on the narrow path that leads to life. He then shared a reading from Proverbs, underscoring the role of knowledge in leading away from evil and onto the path of eternal life. He highlighted the necessity of seeking wisdom to avoid the path of darkness and attain eternal life.

Matthew 14:1-21 Discussion on Compassion and Suffering

Jared led a discussion on a biblical passage from Matthew, focusing on Matthew 14:1-21. The conversation revolved around the beheading of John the Baptist, Herod's fear, and his oath to give the Baptist's head to his niece, Herodia's daughter. Jared emphasized the importance of following Jesus's example, highlighting his compassion for the multitude and the miraculous feeding of the 5,000. He stressed that even in hard times, God's work shines through, and we should strive to emulate Jesus's behavior, showing compassion toward those suffering.

Spiritual Interpretation of Bible and Old Testament Reading

Jared provided a spiritual interpretation of the Bible, associating the five loaves and two fish with various religious texts. He also led a reading from the Old Testament, specifically Genesis chapters 40 and 41. In the reading, Joseph interpreted the dreams of two officers in Pharaoh's court, predicting their future prominence.

Genesis 40-41:40

Joseph's Dream Interpretation in Pharaoh's Dreams
Jared discussed the biblical story of Joseph, focusing on his interpretation of Pharaoh's dreams. He recounted how Joseph, as an interpreter of dreams, could predict the future based on the symbols in the dreams. Jared highlighted the story of Joseph's dream, where he foresaw seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine. He concluded that the dreams of Pharaoh were a prophecy of what was to come.

Joseph's Humility and Prophecy in Egypt

Jared discussed a biblical narrative about Joseph interpreting Pharaoh's dreams, predicting a seven-year famine in Egypt. He highlighted the significance of Joseph's humility and ability to predict future events, which he suggested were signs of divine wisdom. Jared also emphasized the importance and validity of prophecies, explaining that if short-term prophecies come true, the long-term ones are likely to. He concluded by encouraging the audience to follow the path of wisdom, as exemplified by Joseph.
