Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch joins me to discuss a video put out by Marc Lamont Hill (formally CNN) who argues that the land belongs to the Palestinians, and that Palestine is under the occupation of Israel. But what are the facts? Robert Spencer puts forth his evidence in this video.

I wrote this on facebook in italian, click the link to see original text.

My great-grandfather (and my grandfather Isaac Itzhak Levy, z"l, one year old) lived in Bitola (then Monastir), the Macedonian city north of Thessaloniki. In 1895, with a simple passcard, he came to Jerusalem to live. He didn't need a passport because it was all part of the same empire, the Turkish-Ottoman one. The Jews from Thessaloniki came to the Land of Israel/Palestine, and they preferred to settle on the sea, in Haifa. Thessaloniki was a maritime city. Those from Bitola, the nearby city, was seated on the hills, and they preferred to settle in Jerusalem, on its hills.
For every Jew coming to Palestine between 1880 and 1948, about 2-3 Arabs came as well, looking for a job. My father was a border guard in 1943.  He asked an Arab "you are Iraqi, what are you doing in Palestine?"  The Arab told him "In Iraq there was a rumor that there were Jews in Palestine, and they provided work herep, that's why I came".  Then he met another from Sudan who had come for the same reason.  From 1917 to 1948 there was the British Mandate of Palestine in Palestine.  In 1920 (to make a long story short, let's say 1920, in practice there were two-three decisions, in 1920, 1922, 1923, see Di Segni's clarification below) at an international conference held in San Remo, it was decided to divide Palestine in two parts, one Arab, which became today's Jordan, and in the area now controlled by Israel, Great Britain had the mandate to create a homeland for the Jews, just there, in the second area.  Following two years of staying in Palestine the British gave any immigrant, no matter if Jew or Arab, a Palestinian passport.  Today the world believes that the "Palestinians" are the Arabs who lived here in the Land of Israel until 1948, and the Jews "kicked out" them from "their" lands.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Apart the 25,000 Jews in Palestine in 1881 (according to a Turkish census), the 170,000 Muslims and the 5,000 Christians, everyone else immigrated here.  But if the Jews had not immigrated, the million Arabs that came here back then, in those years, would never have immigrated here. That is because the Jews created the infrastructure for a thriving, modern economy. In theory, for a specific reason, which Westerners do not understand, there is a kernel of truth in that sentence. Islamists and Arab Muslims consider ALL land, from Pakistan to Morocco, Islamic Land.  Therefore, according to them, Israel is an Islamic Land, so, an immigrant into Palestine in the years 1880-1948 (that is, the vast majority of "Palestinians"), who waged war against Israel, losing property because of his own fault (he had not taken part of the war, he should continued to own his little piece of land, till our days), was practically kicked out of a piece of Islamic Land. On the other hand, the Islamists have 22 Arab states and 80 other states in the world, can't they tolerate a tiny Jewish state?  No, actually they can't tolerate it. And the Western world doesn't understand this. Israel is the only state with a Jewish majority in the world.  And you want to destroy it?  It will happen, NEVER !
Until 1948 the Arabs did not want to call themselves "Palestinians", because with that term everyone referred to the Jews in Palestine.  In other words, until 1948 the Jews were called "Palestinians" and the Arabs, "Arabs".
In 1964, three years before the Six Day War, the Russian KGB gave this order to Yasser Arafat, who was an Egyptian leader of the PLO: <<From today, instead of calling yourselves Arab refugees, you will call yourselves "Palestinians">> .
This part of History is told in the West, every time upside down, quite often against Israel, thousands and thousands of anti-israeli lies are told throughout the years.

Clarification by Donato Di Segni:

- The Mandate of Palestine existed from September 1923 until May 1948
-in 1920 in Sanremo there was the creation of the mandates and the Palestinian mandate included both present-day Israel and present-day Jordan.
-in July 1922 at the League of Nations it was decided to divide the original mandate territory in two, creating Transjordan, reducing the Palestinian mandate only to the area west of the Jordan River.
- the Arabs only wanted to call themselves Palestinians since 1964.
__
I would like to point out this - Before 1964, some of them preferred to call themselves "Southern Syrians".  Others preferred to be called "Arabs".
