Today in Key Largo I head offshore with Craig on my boat in search of some fish to put in the pan. This episode I do a catch n cook where I compare yellowtail snapper to the famous grunt.

In this video:
We have a bit of a late start since I had to put the boat in the water and then it turned out the battery was dead and then my jumper died so we had to do some manual cranking to get this fishing trip in action.

We run out of tavernier creek and run offshore to 130-250 feet and troll around hoping to find some mahi, wahoo or tuna. The weather was a little weird and we were getting beat up a bit. Some storm clouds started appearing. Man I want to catch a wahoo so bad, I have yet to catch one off Key Largo. The last time I caught one was off fort pierce.

Before heading in we drift the reefs edge between 35-80feet. This is where I hook up on a few small yellowtail. These yellowtail snapper are too small for a catch and cook. I must catch a bigger fish. I'm starting to get desperate and then catch a grunt...

Now normally I would throw this grunt back but I'm so hungry I keep it because I want to cook it. Then we catch a couple keeper yellowtail snapper also. looks like this will be a good catch n cook after all! You might be wondering, how does grunt taste? It actually tastes really good, so this should be interesting to see how it compares to the yellowtail snapper.

SPOILER ALERT!!!
I fry both the grunt and the yellowtail in this catch n cook and compare the 2. Both fish taste amazing, but hands down the yellowtail snapper wins. I still love the taste of grunt and any fishing trip where things are going slow i'll probably put a grunt in the box if it comes down to it...
