The person who died following a shooting involving Reno Police officers has been identified as 32-year-old Scott Kennedy. According to the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office, Kennedy’s cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds.

No new information has been released regarding the status of the deputy or the second suspect.

They say around 6:20 p.m. Sunday, RPD officers were responding to a call of a suspicious circumstance on the 1500 block of Sky Valley Drive.

Around 6:35 p.m., after an interaction with two men, multiple shots were exchanged between two Reno police officers and the subjects.

One of the RPD officers was hit by gunfire and was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.

Police say both suspects were shot during the incident. One of them died, while the other is in an area hospital where his condition is being monitored and will be re-evaluated on Tuesday.

WCSO says there are no outstanding suspects, and no danger to the public. Both RPD officers have been placed on administrative leave while the incident is being investigated, per policy.

It happened Sunday night at an apartment complex on Sky Valley Dr.

Police say the officer is currently in surgery. No word yet on the officer’s condition.

The situation began when police were called to the complex based on reports of a disturbance. Investigators say there are two suspects involved in the shooting. Both were shot, and one of them was taken to the hospital.
