Monster Soul Volume 1 by Hiro Mashima - Manga Review

Welcome to my review of Monster Soul Volume 1 by Hiro Mashima which is a two part miniseries that he worked on from 2006-2007 while Fairy Tail was also being published. The series pokes fun at the classic monsters from the Hammer horror films while incorporating plenty of references to his own series, Rave Master and Fairy Tail. The main cast of characters work together in a group called the Black Airs and they include Aki who can transform into a direwolf and is comparable to Natsu, Tooran the sand golem who looks and acts like Lucy if she was a brunette, Mummy who is literally a mummy and is best described as a combination of Julia and Erza, and James the Frankenstein monster who reminded me of Elfman. I thought that it was a fun read, but only recommend it to Hiro Mashima superfans. Stay tuned for my other Halloween Month reviews including Volume 2 coming soon. Thanks for watching, let me know your thoughts in the comments down below, and have a great day!
