*Note to Rumble followers. Out There! is not done or gone. Link got sick several months ago and yes this is ONE reason why we have been on hiatus. But it is not the only reason. We here at Out There! have had surgeries, physical therapies, and recovery in that span and we have still been uploading at a semi constant rate on the home of the Out There! Channel on YouTube. Rumble for one doesn't get anywhere near the views as YouTube. It is really hard to get views on either platform because all they care about is video games and politics. Two things that Out There! is not nor ever will be. Well not this Out There! But you can find us on YouTube at www.youtube.com/@OutThere777 subscribe (follow yes its free) and hit the bell icon and you will be notified when a new video is uploaded. And there are hours of naturtantastic videos over there so we will see yall...

Mission Dam, NC a Out There! Short Tale!
Mission Dam. Located between Hiawassee Dam and Chatuge Dam was actually the first dam built on the Hiawassee River in 1924. Built by the City of Andrews bought by Nantahala Power and Light in 1929 which was acquired by Duke Power in 1988.. As of this recording, it looked to Out There! as if Duke has removed their name from all of the signs on the property... But beyond this, there is very little information out there about the place. Even growing up in the area this dam was very obscure and it took Out There! a few trips down Mission Dam Rd to finally find the entrance to the facility. A hiking trail of sorts goes back up the reservoir and it seems like a nice peaceful place to cast a line or just relax by the water. This Dam has supplied the local population with energy for a very long time. And as it seems it still does so today even though who operates the facility and how the power is distributed and charged to the citizens is a bit of a mystery...
A lot of technical information about the area and the dam can be found at this link if you are interested.
http://www.janandpat.net/dams/dukepower/missiondam.htm
The best way to find out though as Out There! has always found is just to simply....

GoPro 9 versus Samsung Galaxy S10+ Deathmatch Round 1
A side by side comparison video of the GoPro Hero 9 Versus the Samsung Galaxy S10+. And yes I know that the Galaxy does have a video stabilization feature that is not on in this video.. But that is at fault of the phone's software. The last time I recorded with the phone it was enabled. I never disabled it. The software did. So this is DEFAULT settings for both devices. By default the setting on the S10 is off. By default the GoPro's video stabilization is always on. I actually did think the phones stabilization was on while filming it wasn't until I reviewed the footage that I realized that for some reason the phone turned the feature off. But I am just presenting the footage you can decide which footage you think is better. Its not about the stabilization by itself. It is the frame width, the color depth and range, and a million other things.
This video also includes an obvious preview of Out There!'s new video coming soon. It will be a week or so more than likely but it is a sneak peek!
Enjoy

Out There! 2010 Throwback Random Indiana Trails
Out There! has came a long way that is for sure. Today every single video we produce is in 1920x1080p format. We use a GoPro9 and a Galaxy S10 for most of the footage on The Channel. Mostly filmed in 30fps or 60 for slow motion or higher if we want to slow it down super slow. But this video here.... Well it was filmed on an Olympus Waterproof Camera in 2010ish. The pictures although suprisingly in higher quality are in a odd format that forced me to leave them in the center of the editing board because if I tried to stretch them it warped the image really bad and the videos... They were filmed in 320x240.. No where near high definition. The sound in the videos was pretty terrible as well. But sometimes you have to go back and see where you came from to fully appreciate where you are today. So Welcome to Out There! 2010!

Nottely Tailwater Trail Full Hyperlapse plus Bonus Footage!
At 6/10 of a mile this trail offers a fantastic walking path of moderate difficulty since you either have to walk back up/down the trail or the road the climb in elevation the only 'difficult' thing about the trail. But it features some of the most peaceful 'hiking' we've seen in awhile. Beginning at the top the parking area is just on the right as you make your way down the TVA road just before the dam on the east side. The trail makes its way down the hill through the forest crossing creeks and what looks like might be four wheeler trails until you reach the tailwater from the Nottely Dam which flows and continues on down the Nottely River. At the end of the trail which ends back onto the TVA road at the bottom. If you are lucky you can walk up the road a few hundred yards and see the water pouring down the spillway. If you want to see it on video and can't wait to see it in person you can on the Nottely Dam Premier on Out There! at this link https://youtu.be/DtnkHuSHrPQ if you want to be notified when a new adventure is posted then make sure to subscribe to the YouTube Channel today at www.youtube.com/outthere777 and follow here on Rumble for more exclusive content!

A Cicada's Last Ride
A new friend of the Out There! family. This guy wanted to catch one more ride before his death. Cicada's only live above ground for a month or so while mating before laying their eggs and dying. We are pretty sure this is a male. He was found on the forest floor and although could very well hold on tightly for the ride. He was laying on his side and couldn't walk very well. At the end of the trail he fluttered back into the forest to spend his last hours alone... He will be missed. But we hope he enjoyed a ride with Out There!

Mammoth Cave, KY - An Out There! Short Tale!
Mammoth Cave is the longest known cave system on earth. With over 400 miles of surveyed tunnels. Underground water systems (and washouts from a flood) carved their way through limestone strata capped by a layer of sandstone. These passageways give visitors a breathtaking view of the cave system on guided and unguided tours ranging from 0.25 miles at 30 mins to 5 miles at 6 hours. Ranging in difficulty from family and kid-friendly to mostly only them spelunking type humans out there. There is plenty of mud and water to get filthy in.
Above ground, the citizens of America's land stretches across 52,830 acres of backcountry with the Green River passing through. Offering plenty of hiking, camping, exploring or just riding around and getting lost.
We aren't really going into a geological lesson or a tour guide write up here but this video is just a TINY preview of a massive underground cave system. And we hope it encourages you to...

Murphy River Walk and Konehete Park Murphy, NC
The Murphy River Walk is an 'approximately' 3-4 mile easy trail 'conceived' in 2002 and improvements continue today. It stretches from Konehete Park to the Old L&N Depot in historic Murphy, NC. Built and maintained by volunteers from the Murphy River Walk & Canoe Trails Project Team sponsored by Heritage Partners. The 'center loop' is at the confluence of two rivers the Valley River and the Hiwassee River which includes Hiwassee Lake. The trail finds it's way through rock cliffs, a hardwood forest, a marshy wetland, and open meadowland. Besides the hiking trail which has fishing spots literally built into the trail there are canoe trails also along the rivers and lakes which change with the seasons. In the summer when Hiwassee Lake is full backing up into the rivers and low lands it covers some of the hiking trails but opens up more places for canoers to paddle around in. But watch out though Cherokee Legend tells of a giant living in these here waters. You can read about it along the trail or listen to the audio tour provided via QR codes along the trail. Or at the Koehete Park trailhead side you can visit the local pool the Murphy Health and Fitness where you can swim get buff or both. Or you can play baseball, basketball, tennis, cookout with the family and let the kids play on the playground at Koehete Park. How they managed to fit so much stuff to do in so little space is beyond me but it is pretty swell. Besides the pool there wasn't nothing there but trees and water when I was a kid. So much to do right in your backyard you have no excuse so you should probably.....

Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest - Out There!
Trees
by Joyce Kilmer
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest is a 3,800 acre tract of virgin forest in Graham County North Carolina. Named in memory of the poet Joyce Kilmer. It is one of the largest tracts of 'Old Growth' Forest in the Eastern United States. Some trees are said to be over 400 years old. Killed in action during WWI in France the VFW petitioned the United States Government to set aside some land in 1934. After investigating possible locations the United States Government decided on land along the Little Santeetlah Creek and on July 30 1936 dedicated the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest. There are several types of trees here namely Yellow-Poplar, Oak, Basswood, Beech, and Sycamore. Some of the oldest are over 20 ft in circumference and 100 feet tall. Diseases on our cursed planet have wiped out many species as well. Gone today are the American Chestnut and the Hemlocks some of them so big their trunks are still visible rotting on the forest floor. In the months of April and May many different species of wildflowers cover the forest floor. There are two miles of looping trails here and all the trees and flowers are only accessible by foot. (Although half the trails were closed on both trips for me several months apart.) But because the forest which the Memorial is in the Joyce Kilmer-Slickrock Wilderness is apart of the Nantahala National Forest many trails cross here but the main trail is heavily traveled and easy to follow. If you plan on going off the main trail to one of the side trails we suggest using a real GPS. A phone is not a GPS and although some apps can increase the signal strength of satellites you should not rely on a phone for any kind of backcountry hiking. We also recommend checking out alltrails.com to find trails and research where you want to go before you head out. Just don't forget to the untrained eye trails on a flat map sure do look a lot shorter than when you actually get on the trail itself.
After hiking the easy-moderate trail and enjoying the sites. There is a place where folks swim or wade in the creek. The rocks are slick so be careful. There are picnic tables (should have seen those in the video......;)), grills, and a restroom with some flushing toilets. There is no camping or overnight parking 'allowed'. (Public Land)
So enjoy and have fun! And if you can't or just won't remember that is what we are here for!!
We will see you......-
