I don't know many 20-year-olds who can fight off two people, let alone an 80-year-old, but this 80-year-old man was able to fend off two intruders for one reason only: he had a gun. The gun made him equal, and that's why we fight so hard for the second amendment.

One of the reasons why some people are anti-gun is because they see themselves only as potential victims of gun violence. In reality, guns are the great equalizer.

I always answer my door with a gun in my hand, and some people think that's crazy. But this story is a perfect example of why I do this. According to the Chicago Police Department, the elderly man was also battered and sustained multiple injuries. He was transported to Resurrection Hospital for treatment. NBC 5 confirmed that the 80-year-old is a legal gun owner with a valid Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card.
