Building A Frame For A Hyperadobe Bottle Wall

In today's video, Douglas will be building a frame for a hyperadobe bottle wall that will go on the south side of our hyperadobe chicken coop tower.

We are Douglas and Keri and we recently quit our jobs, sold everything, and in September of 2022 we took a leap of faith and moved onto our off grid homestead property in the high desert of Cochise County, Arizona. Follow along with us as we build our off grid homestead property from scratch with our two rebels, Willow & Zoey and our 16 y/o kitty, Boo.

We decided on building a frame for our hyperadobe bottle wall because we’ve seen people build with bottle bricks and hyperadobe that end up breaking from the pressure of tamping the bag, so we wanted to try to avoid that. We will plan on putting concrete around the bricks as we set them to give the whole thing strength. Some of you may have noticed we are using the Shou Sugi Ban method to preserve our wood and we will not be doing that on this frame only because it will eventually will be covered with plaster or cob and not exposed.

Hope you enjoyed the video and we always appreciate a like and subscribe if you’re finding value in what we are sharing :)
